    Smart on the voltage cutoff.. too many are not doing this and will damage their batteries.. I believe a 16V cutoff is recommended

    As a Milwaukee dad too, I'm going to have to do this to my youngest daughter's power wheels car for her (and let big sister drive it). I've already covered the drive wheels with bike tire tread so the next upgrade is ditching the weak 6v for this setup. Thank you for including the battery discharge protector link and great how-to video sir.

      The only thing I have changed since the video ( which I'm getting ready to make a new 1) is I ran 2 battery protectors 1 for each battery. I did this because after a few months if only 1 is used it will fail

      @@EricksonMachinePerformance thanks for the heads up. I actually ordered 2 protectors (in case it failed, I had a replacement on hand) so I'll order 1 more and run 1 per cell with a spare if I need it.

    Thanks for the video. Can't wait for my parts to arrive. One quick question: How did you wire the batteries? Do you just have both positives wired together and going to the cut off? Same with the negatives?

      I used Amazon knockoff milwaukee m18 6.0 batteries. With 2 it would last over 45 min and is still running strong now. Only thing I would do differently is run 2 battery voltage cutoffs. 1 for each battery

    • @jayc3110
      @jayc3110 Год назад +1

      @@EricksonMachinePerformance thank you. Since I am wedded to a set of Ryobi power tools, I could probably find a good Ryobi knock off with about 8 Amp hours. I think that should be sufficient for about 20 to 25 minutes of time, with the single battery. That should be enough for my need, and if I need more time I could put in another fully charged battery. I don't want to get into the complication of dual batteries Etc. I appreciate all your help. Best wishes

    So at work we use milwaukee. We run them until they die. Then grab a new battery... why would this not be the same?
    I bought a extra 12.0 to try this swap on. But now I'm worried. The 12.0 milwaukee is not a cheap battery.

    • @EricksonMachinePerformance
      @EricksonMachinePerformance  2 года назад

      all Milwaukee products have a low voltage cut off on them to save the batteries which is why you add a low voltage cut off When you convert these cars to run lion or lipo batteries. Lithium batteries can be damaged if discharged too low

      What is the advantages and disadvantages to wiring them in series??

    • @dham99
      @dham99 2 года назад

      @@brentduvall5446
      Parallel: 2 batteries keep the Voltage the same, Ah doubles so you get longevity
      ex: 12v7ah + 12v7ah = 12v 14ah (negative to negative, positive to positive)
      Series: 2 batteries double the Voltage. You will get a lot more power but the longevity is the same or slightly less than running one battery
      ex: 12v7ah + 12v7ah = 24v 7ah (postive to negative)
      With Power Wheels/BCP jeeps, etc, the factory motors are generally 12v as is the ESC, steering motor, etc. If you double the voltage, you will get big bump in power but will absolutely fry your components. Its VERY cheap relatively to upgrade these. Get something like the RX30 (24v ESD) with a remote control, 24v motors, and buy a contorller. Each of these components is pretty inexpensive. All said and done, you can greatly increase a ride-on/power wheels abilities for under $100 and some basic 101 wiring.
