I Appreciate the heads up on this. Got my boys a power wheels for $6 at a garage sale that didn't have a battery anymore. Got some old screw guns gonna do the same thing now ❤ 🙏😇💪😎👍🌄☯️♾️🕉
Kids gonna love the power wheels again. I did the same for my daughter with the Craftsman version. Give her more driving time then the OG battery ever did and charges faster.
Should keep cheap upgrading the Power Wheels as the kids grow up and slowly turn it into a battery go-kart! Helps teach the kids essential skills and is SUPER fun!
That's a clean install. I did this for my kids with a dewalt adapter, I would recommend installing a DC-DC adjustable voltage regulator to bring the 18v down to around 14v so you don't burn up the 12v motor. You also have to be careful with the dewalt batteries as they do not have a low voltage disconnect circuit built in and they will not recharge if you let them get to low.
Yes agreed, I should have used this regulator if I knew about it. I used the adapter on a broken Dewalt drill + battery on one of these power wheels and I ended up burning up one of the motors on it...
Get ready to start breaking parts and burning up motors. I have been fighting to keep my daughters running for the last year breaks every few weeks. Mainly gear gears in the gear box.
was gonna buy a whole new battery but came across this video, gonna check the hardware stores today for your recommended supplies, i already have the rigid battery, gonna try your method! , great video!
We have a hilly gravel drive and those plastic wheels get no traction. I found a bike tire on sale so I cut it in half and screwed it to the back wheels and it’s awesome! Has great traction now😁👌
That’s so cool!!! It just reminds me of how many of those toys I pass up on side of the road that could be fixed !!! Thanks man!!! I’m going to keep an eye out!!👍🏻
tried this for our daughters' power wheels and it was working fine for a day and the next day it doesn't want to run anymore, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏻
There's a huge community of people in the power wheel groups. I'm sure there's crazier builds. I followed a little. My son's has the Lighting McQueen and I upgraded his 6v to 12 lead acid battery. It was plenty of power. I heard you can even go to 36v safely.
Have you ever changed the motors? I saw you ride it and was impressed. Wasn’t sure if that was the original motors or if the better battery just helped out?
@@eazyd1983 you take a jumper cable preferably a 12 gauge and jump the positive terminal to a positive spot on the battery and the negative plug to a ground and it’ll jump it just enough to charge
Important to have the fuse in line also to save the lithium ion battery!!! Need to have a low power cut off! Or make sure your kid doesn’t run these batteries completely dead! It will ruin the battery before the summer is over.
I tried this with my kobalt 24v to my kids power wheels. Blows the 30a fuse everytime. Did you have to use a step down 18v to 12v for your kids power wheels?
I am doing a project with battery operated toy vehicles just simply trying to make it go a little faster wont 12v to 18v burnout the toy radio in the vehicle ?
I got a power wheel on market place. I can't tell if its a power wheel or a knock off. Can all of em take that battery or how can I tell if mine is genuine or not...or does it even matter?
I got the SafeAMP Wire Harness Connector and a dewalt adapter for my 18v dewalt battaeries but its slower than the 12v. Both the adapter and the harnes connector have fuses. Could that why its not performing?
I have done this many times and everyone saying the motor will burn up🤔. I have never personally experienced this, as the next weakest point are the plastic gears. They will shear loooong before the motor has a problem. Unless you foolishly have the gears remade in metal then the motor will get smoked.
looking to hook this battery set up to a water pump in the bed of my truck for auto detailing, pulling from a water tank. What do I need once I buy the Milwaukee M18 Battery Adapter, I know nothing about wiring , totally new
Great fathers like these are what makes the difference.
Having your boy do things with you is how you make a man. Good job.
Thanks for sharing this precious moment with us! I hope all is well with your family!
The smiles on the kiddos is all worth it! Be blessed and prayers to your wife and the baby.
You're a legendary dad, thanks for the video!

Can you post link want to do a car radio on a cooler
I bought the low voltage alarm and DC regulator, can you explain how they are all connected?

How do u wire it ?? I have 2 range rover . All love bud

This is the easiest version of this mod I found on RUclips. Appreciate you.
Thanks for the great video! You seem like a great father who's raising some great kids. Rock on, man!
That is so cool. I'm going to get 3 of those adaptors for my grandsons rides, if they make them in Dewalt.
They do.

My son's mom sat on his on Christmas Day after the second lap around the house and broke it It still gets on my nerves 3 years later
My wife did the same thing!
Big gal huh
Looks like the lesson here is avoid big girls with big egos lol
Bro I’d be frustrated too.
Is be mad to man, thats memories w the boy gone🙄 cuz she thought she was being funny

I pick them up everytime I see them. Just had a race on the weekend. 90% of the time they are a very easy fix.

This video......wow speechless at the same time have so much to say.......wow..... great FAMILY. Keep doing what you do. Best video on YT EVER!!
Is this setup for all power wheels or does it vary
Awesome father brother.
very cool video! I have a little man too and not going to lie the battery stuff was very informative but watching you guys having fun was awesome!
60V !? Maybe with new motors, wheels, axle, frame, suspension, disc brakes, seats, harness, roll cage... Sounds fun! :D
Yeah. I was thinking it would be a pretty high upgrade for that 60V battery. 🙂✌️❤️

What an amazing father 🥰 Lucky kids !
Can it damage the motor if you put higher voltage battery?
I think you can, that's what puts me off
Could I get this stuff at Walmart, Lowe’s, harbor freight, or something like that?
That's nice. Is better than a go-cart. Is pretty cool. 👍👍👍👍
Have you ever changed the motors? I saw you ride it and was impressed. Wasn’t sure if that was the original motors or if the better battery just helped out?
Your daughter helping you is super cool.

Thank you for the info.
PS- Titus is a good helper. I like his long hair!! Go get the robbers, Titus
I’m so glad that connectors only have 2 genders.. it makes things so simple
😅😅😅😅
ironic right 😂
😂
I'm dying 😂
Lmaoo Houses unfortunately uses a Gender neutral!
You are a great father it is inspiring
Did you change the gearbox for the same voltage?
its like putting a 50 shot of nitrous on that beast. it was flyin!
what is the best battery to use to have the best performance?
Looks awesome. Just make sure the battery doesn't drain too low or it won't charge back up unless u jump start it with another battery
How do you jump start from another battery?
My battery ran low and won’t charge!!! I have a spare.
@@eazyd1983 you take a jumper cable preferably a 12 gauge and jump the positive terminal to a positive spot on the battery and the negative plug to a ground and it’ll jump it just enough to charge
Don’t connect directly the 18v. You’ll need this PWM DC Motor Speed Controller Switch 30A. Hope this helps.
I learned the hard way that's exactly what I did I didn't know
This does help, thank you. Another forum recommended the same. What volt setting should it be set to? 18v?
@@Rivster7918v input, 12-14v output, I would say.
Good morning. How do we do it if the car has two 6 volt motors. Thank you
Did you only change the Akku from 12V to 18V without changing anything on controller board or motors? :)
super easy to install, thanks for the tips and links
Happy kid. Can’t beat that.

a regular , small angle adapter would work better...i use mine all the time
I am doing a project with battery operated toy vehicles just simply trying to make it go a little faster wont 12v to 18v burnout the toy radio in the vehicle ?
Huffy Green Machine 360, any idea how to upgrade these ?
I have my kids car comes with 2 batteries 7A , can I replace it with bigger one piece or need a compatible one?
I got a power wheel on market place. I can't tell if its a power wheel or a knock off. Can all of em take that battery or how can I tell if mine is genuine or not...or does it even matter?
Its not gunna last long feeding that 12v dc motor almost double the voltage… you need a step down buck converter to regulate the voltage at 12
Yeah this is what am i thi king too
I’m doing this now how do I wire in buck converter with low voltage detector and voltage controller
Is this the coolest dad in the block or what?!
Definitely go DeWalt with the 15 amp hour battery
this is exactly what i needed. thanks bud!
Very nice! Do I need a 9ah 18v battery to do the upgrade or would a 6ah work? I found some 6ah 20v batteries for sale just wondering. Thanks
Ah (Amp hours) just tells you how long the battery will last. 6ah will work but won't last as long as 9ah before needing recharged.
Awesome Build! Quick question, will 18v burn out the stock speed controller or can it handle it?
Eventually the motors will go but idk what would first , motors or wheels, however parts for these are cheap
Did you change your 12v controller
I want to ask that you have only changed the battery ,not the motor????
I did the ryobi verson and it keeps blowing fuses
Put a car battery on it and you can pop wheelies and it will fly lol
And burn it up.we did it 20 years ago.fast for awhile
Will this work with my sons bentley mulsanne 12volt ? If i send you the specs could you direct me please 🙏🏾
Where can I find this battery adapter please o. Linke
Will it blow out the 12v in end
I just did this and it definitely goes faster but now the music functions and the remote don’t work. Not sure what happened? Anyone help?
Does this can work with 4Ah 40 V ryobi battery ?
For a couple of minutes maybe. Then those 12 motors are going to burn out.
Where do you buy the battery
I got the SafeAMP Wire Harness Connector and a dewalt adapter for my 18v dewalt battaeries but its slower than the 12v. Both the adapter and the harnes connector have fuses. Could that why its not performing?
Do they sell those adapters for all batteries?
How long does it last?
I did this. Worked fine for about 20 minutes. Now the fuse blows. Put in a new one. Same result. Any advice?
motors are toasted
Heads up, don't put any traction on those tires. You will break gears. Tires are much cheaper to replace.
Appreciate the heads up. 🙂
Need low voltage cut-off so don't kill battery
I have done this many times and everyone saying the motor will burn up🤔. I have never personally experienced this, as the next weakest point are the plastic gears. They will shear loooong before the motor has a problem. Unless you foolishly have the gears remade in metal then the motor will get smoked.
tutorial on installing sound engine boss
my son is gonna love this (i dont have children. i do have powerwheels tho 😎)
Excellent
So, how long will the motors and gearbox last, with 50% more voltage? Asking for a friend...... 😂
Where can I get the adapter
Does it still run?
Would I be able to keep the stock controller?
No, if you do you will blow the motors
tutorial for installing engine sounds, boss 🙏
Better to upgrade the wheel motor/gearbox and stay at 12v.
As a father of a 7 year old I was waiting for the “why?” After the male/female connector lesson 😂
i do same but with dc to dc 18 to 14v to protect motore
looking to hook this battery set up to a water pump in the bed of my truck for auto detailing, pulling from a water tank.
What do I need once I buy the Milwaukee M18 Battery Adapter, I know nothing about wiring , totally new
Is there any guide on how to do this right?
Those 9AH octane batteries are rare commodity these days
Very cool mod!
My upgrades were working but all of the sudden my 30 amp fuses are are blowing in all four power wheel cars. Any idea what could be causing this?
Yea the fuses are wearing down
@@RTfishing33 They are brand new ones that are blowing.
@@jeffdeporter628 hmmm maybe short circuit somewhere or faulty wiring?
Tak for videoen, vi glæder os til at lave vores søns bil 👍
How long is the battery life?
Now that's really cooll ☺
Go go power wheels
Won't the motors burn out?
Does it give more power to the car
jesus, i just did this and I can see why you would want to add the motor control to it, jesus that spins fast.
Gonna need a trailer for when your other kid/kids are born lol
curious why not just buy the same style battery instead of doing this?
Needs a Turbo! Great video!💯💯
Sick video thanks dude!
Try to run a Kobalt 24v battery.
I think either metabo or Makita make a 36v battery pack too.
I did the same with my kids power wheel
