im from the philippines and even games in SEA region give me about 150+ ping but unlike every other fighting game ive played its hardly noticable, ive been comfortably playing in NA as well

@@Ixs4i bro me too, never been able to play a fighting game in asia , i bought tekken 7, i hardly get any matches and the matches i do get, seem to be really laggy, strive works super smooth even on NA servers with 300 ping

As someone who never really could play a fighting game for more then a couple of weeks before dropping it I'm glad I've finnaly found one I want to get better at. I always love watching high level anji and seeing all the conversions they do with RC and fujin

A great Nago is definitely one of my favorite characters to watch. Wish that first set could have gone on longer.
When you play games with similar mechanics but different timing, you really understand the concept of "Muscle Memory".
Try playing a game with all of your buttons reversed, you’ll understand the concept of torture

Don’t feel bad. I often watch other players for renewed inspiration on how to approach a character, or see something cool I’d like to integrate. This is part of the learning process.
There's no better time to give it a shot, you might like it. The shorter match times make it pretty engaging
LOL god, same. I pre-ordered teh Ultimate edition, and had vacation last week which i planned on using the majority of it playing Strive... I THINK i maybe played 4 or 5 hours. I spent way more time watching Max, Koe and Sajam.

But that's how I learned SFV, watching people play it for long periods of time, most strings or moves I do are from shadowing other players. Honestly for me it's more... I guess just knowing that despite any amount of practice I put in I'm pretty much gonna lock at one specific spot for skill level. Not garbage, but never pro.
That plus some discussions in FGC really kill my interest
@@KraftLawrence1 I would recommend playing through the mission mode. It's a good way to familiarise yourself with the mechanics and build up that confidence/motivation to play (also it's comfy to go through while having Max's stream on the second monitor).

Hey Max i dont know if its to much to ask for but if you are using an Arcade stick for strive would you mind doing a video similar to your fighterz video a few years back showing your preferred button mapping? I've been playing fighting games for a while now with only a controller to this point and have been getting ready to purchase my first Arcade stick to practice with while playing strive. Also if you have any updated recommendations for what Arcade sticks are decent it would be appreciated, thank you.

I desperately wish I could keep my cool when getting my ass kicked like Max does. I am so easy to tilt, it's infuriating. I don't even mind losing; it's when I feel like I can't even move that I completely lose my mind.
Might just take practice. Guilty Gear certainly is one place to learn that...though I'm finding it's really helpful to avoid other player's offense if I figure out what my character wants to do and find chances to do that...or just focus on stuffing their approaches. Guilty Gear is very offense-oriented.
@@GrayderFox For me, on a basic level, it's really all about feeling incompetent. Today I fell from floor 8 all the way down to floor 6 in the span of 45 minutes. Then, shortly thereafter, I got buried alive in a mirror match by someone from floor 5... which also resulted in my falling down another floor. So in about an hour and a half, I went from floor 8 to floor 5, and didn't win a single match in all that time. But here's the thing: I've been playing fighting games for 30 years. The feeling of incompetence that this incites in me is fucking white-hot. The self-loathing it brings with it is unspeakable. It isn't a matter of practice. It's a matter of loving something and wanting to be a part of something that you are mentally incapable of, and being saliently aware of that. It's insufferable.

@@MrVacuumBrainBimbo You are definitely not alone, what helps me is to stay off ranked and just play casuals. It helps me level up and it feels somewhat better to get your ass handed to you by someone you know at least.

Started playing this game for the first time Saturday and got clapped so many times🤣. I had a lot of fun though, I never really played fighting games online but the adrenaline is addicting even when losing lol
This might be dumb but can you set the older music instead of the new stuff?
Yes. You can fish for those and set most of them as bgm. The ones you can't set are weird music for things like story or transitions

nago has VERY inconsistent combos. his F+HS on combo puts them on the ground and you get another F+HS but sometimes it connects and sometimes it doesnt
gptta time it the exact second they hit the ground, soon as they touch the ground, f+hs and itll hit everytime. Do it at any other time and u miss. Mashing it makes it inconsistent, see if u can get it into muscle memory

For real, the VA's direction is all over the place. It's like different lines were recorded for entirely different characters and accidentally stitched together.

This might the dumbest GG question, but I give no shits. Why do I see so many random/raw supers? How come nobody bothers to combo into supers in this game?
Part of it is they changed how easy it is to cancel into supers in Strive. Not many moves can do it anymore, so people are still trying to figure out combo paths since the game is new.
Sony sent me another link for ordering a ps5. I might order a digital PS5 and hold onto it.

I've played Guilty Gear 1, at least two of the Guilty Gear X series games, Guilty Gear Isuka, and both versions of XRD. I cannot get into the series. The game plays too differently from anything else I've played for me to fathom how it works. This is of course a me problem not a series sucking problem, but it also prevents me from grasping what the fuck is going on when watching. I hope Strive does really well, but I just can't watch it and certainly can't play it.
