For those that are asking, this show is from 2009. This is long before the album version was recorded. It's what East Harlem originally sounded like. I honestly prefer this version because it's more true to their original style.
It’s also impressive that most of them if not all of them are multi-instrumentalists... some (eg Kelly) even playing 2 different instruments in one song

They are good. I heard a friend say this man hates his own music. I am curious as to why. If I had to guess (if it is true) I would assume he is like most musicians...wanting a more complex progression. Simple encompasses the best songs. They are good.
@dancingfreakalicious I desperately hope I can get tickets. It's been sold out online for weeks. If I can't get in I'll just sit outside the fence and bawl.
hi, hello you know what he says at the end of this version (min. 2:50), because I do not understand what it says, help please, because missing a part of the letter.
Unfortunately the extra verse wasn't included on the East Harlem album and Zach doesn't really put much effort into enunciating his lyrics (and I say that with no disrespect, he's an outstanding artist). Hopefully one of our fellow fans has a really keen ear, I'd love to know what he's singing, too!

Its just here in USA everyone beleives whats on the news which isnt always true. Everyone thinks its all sand and terrorists just cause its in the middle east
Kurt Varju This is the question we will all reach, but I do not think there is a simple answer to this seemingly simple question. Depending on the song and the part of the song it may change slightly. But I do not mean to sound hopeless, actually the opposite. Something I have been playing with recently is trying to listen to the song, and simply play around with the chords until you find something that sounds like what you hear. Just learned the Penalty by Beirut this way. Good luck to you my fellow musician.

Still the best version of this song and he’s one of the best songwriters of his generation
he is underrated genius
Could you imagine writing a song like this when you were 17?
Yes, most great song writers produce their best when they are young.

esp0624 This is better for sure. The album version doesn’t even come close
He changed the original lyrics of the final paragraph. What a versatile artist! 💜
it is the original song. album one was released in 2011, two years after this video
I adore this song. This version is even better than the album version.
These guys are phenomenal live - go see! Their sound really does translate to the stage. First and only time I saw a tuba solo.
Which song?
Nicely played! For anyone wondering, the chord progression on the uke is G - C - D, then G - C - D - Em for the end part. Got that from UkuleleHunt.
Their live performances are seriously better than their recordings. This is absurdly awesome.
Charming vocals
Do someone else feels your heart stopping and floating in each chord?
As duas versões dessa música são lindas!!!
Beirut é massa demais!!! ^^
Essa versão é especial demais. Pra mim a melhor e com larga vantagem! 🙌🏽
His music is magic
His voice is so lovely and swoon-worthy. :)
Realmente, a melhor versão dessa música é essa! Provoca sensações indizíveis! ♥
God his voice is seriously something else
Lembra o Circo, alegria...muito lindo!
Simplesmente perfeito!
He wrote this when he was SEVENTEEN?!?!?! omg he is amazing
Bela canção!
Tem uma energia incrível... =)
Beirut é bom demais!!!
I've been waiting for a new Beirut song for YEARS, so I will gladly take this.

CANT WAIT TILL PORTLAND THIS SUMMER, WHO'S WITH ME?
Wow. I love this song even more now.
This is cool to see this song's early stages before they slapped it onto an album!
Beirut music could cure the culture.
It’s also impressive that most of them if not all of them are multi-instrumentalists... some (eg Kelly) even playing 2 different instruments in one song

Watch out we got someone who actually wins stuff over here
Lol

Come back to Brazil!!!!!
Seeing him in NY in exactly 2 weeks!!!!
The best.
I love how Zach cracks a smile at 1:24. He really is too cute, it shouldn't even be legal.

his VOICE though
Another rose...
the feedback 0:15 it couldnt handle zachs perfect voice
so, the lyrics are different than whats online for the second part of the song. can anyone tell me what they are?
Does anyone know what the lyrics are for the second part of the song?? They're different from the album version, and I can't figure them out!!!
I have no idea what he's saying from 2:53 to 3:34 but it's beautiful anyway. (does anyone know what he's saying?)
I cannot love Zach Condon more even if I tried. Oh wait..I just did.
❤
Wtf!! Where did the rest of the band go? Come back?
What was your highest accomplishment when you were 17?
hi, hello you know what he says at the end of this version (min. 2:50), because I do not understand what it says, help please, because missing a part of the letter.
When I was seventeen I got my brown belt in Goju Ryu Karate.
@lunaticbeeFly Donde donde?
Can anybody tell me what show is this? Or where i found this show in complete version? DVD or something? Thanks!
This voice reminds a bit of Ron Sexsmith. Both great.
