The band is also known for being the openers for Ronnie James Dio's last live performance with Heaven & Hell before he succumbed to cancer.
That's Lzzy Hale. I don't know that much about female vocalists in metal but all I ever hear is that there's no one with a better voice than her. And so far I have to agree :D She's absolutely amazing. She obviously sounds great on the albums but it's performances like this one that just blow you away completely

Her younger brother Arejay is the drummer & they started Halestorm in 1997 when she was 13 & he was only 10 years old. Joe Hottenger(Guitar) & Josh Smith (Bass) joined in 2002. They won the Grammy in 2013 for this song in the Rock/Metal live preformance making them the first Female fronted band to win in this category. She also has 3 signiture Gibson Explorers. She's also won awards for her guitar playing, It's pretty weak on this song but her and Joe do some pretty awesome harmoney playing live (I've been a guitarist for over 40 years so I'm not talking as a fan but as a fellow musician) Any other songs you check out by them try to do the live versions.
Lzzy's vocals never fail to give me the chills! There's a song that they've only done live called 'Takes My Life' where the range of vocals she hits is downright batshit crazy.
If you are looking for ladies in rock, there is a trio of sisters from Mexico called The Warning. They are quite young. The eldest turned 21 just a short time ago. If you decide to check them out, don't expect Lzzy type vocals (although the lead singer/guitarist is a huge fan) instead expect deep, meaningful lyrics.

Believe it or not I learn my poor english from 2pac and company and the show ''Friends'', so I have such a respect for hip-hop scene since the time I was growing up and learning myself the language so I can understand music writting art and the songs storyes. The thing about Halestorm is that they are just, solid. Not trying to be paragons of their disciplines, not trying to be "The best" or anything like that. They are just out there, making solid music that THEY enjoy playing. I've heard/seen some people give them a "meh" kind of reaction because they aren't hard enough, metal enough, shredding enough, blah blah blah. But they don't and shouldn't have to be. It's rock and roll.
