On the last tip, place a popsicle stick or tongue depressor type stick on the mat under the pen when adjusting the height of the pen. When it touches the stick, close the clamp. It will be exactly the right height without messing up the top of your paper or your mat.

Here is a second hack for those mats that have lost there clear covers: turn it inward facing a mat that is already covered with a clear cover and use the one clear cover for two mats by facing both mats inward! Works perfectly.

For weeding, I use a pen style x-acto knife. It's so much more comfortable in hand when you're working on something with a lot of detail and, if you're blade isn't as sharp as it could be, you have a sharp blade already in hand to loosen the material and do a quick recut of the lines.

I should be ashamed of myself, my husband got me the Cricut Maker a year ago and I just got it out. He bought all these extra accessories and projects. I appreciate you taking time to share these hacks because old hacks or not you are helping someone out that did not know any of these hacks. So thank you and I am now going to use this Cricut and make things. I subscribed, this is the first video I have seen and am going to watch more.

Someone mentioned buying dental picks for weeding. I mentioned that I used one for this purpose when I was at the dentist and they gave me a handful of them. They recycle them. The best one that I have found has a very small right angle hook on the end which allows you to slightly penetrate the vinyl layer and pull it up and away. It is also great for separating any material from its backing at a corner before peeling. Thanks for your tips!

I turned all of my vinyl scraps into a giant ball. It started out the size of a gum ball and now it's bigger than a basketball and is solid! I just layer it on as I go. I'm trying to see how big I can get it and then one day I will cut it in half :)

I use the binder for my scraps too however I add a piece of card stock paper in to the plastic sheets. This way I can use one side for the lighter color and the back side for the darker color of each color

    Some great tips,thank you!
you use a needle pushed in the end of a mechanical pencil if you dont have a weeding tool, and lint rollers can be used to weed intricate cuts like on brush fonts (you may need to rub the roller on your shirt first to make it less sticky) you can also use the lint roller to stick intricate weeds to from your weeding tool.

Carolyn Gloria storing vinyl in the ikea bag holder is a convenient way and Organized way to store but beware it can make your vinyl “tunnel” or pull away from the carrier sheet when Unrolled.

    • @aliciat2216
      @aliciat2216 5 лет назад +4

Omg I do this b4 I watched thus video I thought I came up with bc I haven’t seen anyone else do it this way lol
I actually use two binders. One binder is for Permanent vinyl, glitter vinyl , frosted vinyl, stencil and speciality vinyl like the holographic, frosted vinyl and stencils
The second finder is for Iron on and removable vinyl.
I have dividers with the tongue sticking out so I can label each section. That way it’s easy to find the glitter vinyl, stencil, removable, ect. For the smaller pieces that could get lost with the larger pieces I will put in an envelope and put it in that storage sleeve. I even have a swim in each binder for regular transfer tape and strong transfer tape. Thanks I’ve organized the scrap pieces this way it makes it so much easier to find places I’m looking for.

These are some REALLY great tips!! I'm new to the Cricut world so I'm scouring the internet for these little nuggets of knowledge!! One of the things I discovered online is the use of wood stick beneath the pen when applying a non-Cricut pen to avoid the pen from touching/marking up anything below when inserting. I thought this was a great idea because sizes vary. Thank you for the vid and keep them coming!

MANY great hacks! Loved the scrapes in binder- I started putting them in a box and now I'm wasting good time in searching for the correct piece--binder will save me time which means....
    MORE TIME TO CREATE
    THANK YOU

Mary hotmail Simkins thank you!!! Lol!! I used to do something like that until I started putting the scraps in a binder and it makes it so much easier to find what I’m looking for! :)

Is the gold chunky glitter that you showed cutting out the faux leather ribbon from hobby lobby? I am having a tough time with that moving while I am cutting. Would you mind sharing all of the settings you used to cut that?

Did I hear that correctly, that you can use clear contact (like you use to cover school books with) as the transfer tape? I only purchased my 1st cricut 2 days ago, so am very fresh learning before I attempt to use the machine lol.

Thank you so much! I have not gotten a cricut yet...can not decide on the Maker or Air (wood & faux leather pieces) but, I have watched some of your video’s & they are very informative.
