For me the most important matter for deciding for the Weebill S was, that it is much smaller und less heavy than the Ronin SC. It is easier to transport the Weebill S as an „always with you gear“ When you are travelling and making tours everybody knows what I’m talking about. When you buy in addition the SmallRig handheld for this Gimbal you can fix on it a second monitor. A second monitor with good quality is a must have when you shoot in bright sunlight, because on the normal camera screens and smartphone panels you see nothing in bright sunlight. Also important is the camera compatibility for operating it with the gimbal.
I got the SC 6 months ago. Today i wish i bought the Weebill-s. There are so many small things wrong with the SC that are not abvious without a few weeks of testing.
@@JakeSloan The Ronin seems to be stabilized wrong. I have a Sony A7III + Tamron 28-75 and its very smooth. Ronin SC is even working with my Sigma 35mm 1.4 + Variable ND + Rode VideoMicro. Can't use underslung mode but it's smooth.
Great comparison video, thanks Jake! ..and finally someone who chooses a beautiful location for a tech review :) Another factor for me is product support. Have dealt with both over the last years and here DJI is simply waaay ahead of Zhiyun. Keep it up!
That’s true! I haven’t had to deal with Zhiyun tech support so I cannot personally comment on it but I do know DJI generally has quite good tech support! I happened on this location just after the sun came out and the clouds went away so it was really great to film in. Which gimbal do you use or which one would you choose? Cheers!
We are in the market for a gimbal to help stabilize our travel footage. We have the A7iii, 16-35 GM, and the Rode Pro Plus. It looks like the Weebill S can handle the weight of our gear. My questions, how would you mount the Pro+ so that it doesn't interfere with the gimble movements (underslung mode ~ for example)? Also, just curious, what software are you using to edit your footage?
Hey! I use Final Cut Pro X to edit with. Davinci resolve is another great option if you’re not Mac based. The weebill S would def handle that weight and they make this little thing here to move the mic off to the side of the camera amzn.to/3fim9pd (Affiliate link) so the mic won’t interfere with the camera movement!
Well, I bought my SC before the release and I wish there was a way to return it... Build quality is definitely good on SC but as an overall performer weebill S wins.
Own both gimbal and I agree with a lot of the comment, DJI's app is easier to use and much more functional, but Weebill S' motor performances and "sling handle" makes traveling easier.
Yeah I’ve found myself using the Weebill s more and more because the motor strength is just that much better. Have you found you prefer one over the other?
@@JakeSloan Just like the you said, if you plan to record yourself walking because there's no one to help you hold the gimbal+camera; the active track 3.0 on the DJI Ronin-SC is a better choice when you want to record yourself walking down a path. Honestly I carry the WeeBill S for traveling because my main set-up (Sony a7r3 + 16-35GMaster) is quite heavy and the Ronin-SC can't balance it well. And the sling shot handle on WeeBill S is much more comfortable to carry around all day than the single/tradition gimbal arm on Ronin-SC.
The Weebil is my favorite, it also stabilizes better from what I've seen, and that's the most important thing at the end if the say for me... the form factor also is nicer imo
lol I guess you like the hardware and overall experience with Zhiyun (me too), while on the other hand DJI does have better Apps and software advantage tbh...
Wow. Great comparision , thanks a lot Jake. Did you have any picture profiles on the A7iii? The blues and dynamic range in general are so much more better than the a6400. sure, it is a different league of camera but that different?
Great vid Jake, loads of info though I still am undecided which is best for me, I will be using the A6400,so no IBIS, paired with Sigma 16mm F1.4 and sony 18-105 f4,..... what you guys recommend out of the two, which I know are both awesome btw. Thanks in advance and hope you're all staying safe.
I wish I would've watched this before I bought the Weebill S! :) I'm going to return it and get the DJI RONIN SC, I'm a bid APP Usage guy, thanks for the review.
I had a Weebill Lab, which recently broke so I got a Ronin-SC. Honestly, I prefer the modular design of the Ronin. The bottom tripod port on the Weebill, where you screw in a tripod to balance the gimbal, is on a plate that is stuck there with epoxy resin (if it breaks off, you'll see the hardened epoxy in some slots that cover the allen bolts), and it looks like the S has the same design. That plate broke off after I slipped in some mud and instinctively put down my hand carrying the gimbal to break my fall. With the Ronin, I'd just have to buy a new battery grip and all's well, but with the Weebill I have to either fix it (not easy!) or buy a new gimbal. The fix (deep clean then re-epoxying the plate) lasted one shoot then it broke again, so I decided to get the Ronin. By the way, thanks, Jake, for all the Ronin-SC videos, they were a big help in making my mind up!
Excellent point!!! I hadn’t thought of that but you’re right the modular design does make repairs easier in some ways. Glad the videos have helped! Thank you so much for letting me know. Cheers
Great Comparison, Thanks for doing all that leg work for a true comparison. I do whitewater video and Photos and thinking about a gimbal in my work flow.
this is very helpful and straight forward i have subscribed! i am using the crane plus and i really don't like it much. i would have gone with the crane 2 but i am petite and its kinda big and heavy. i do use zoom lenses so i think the weebil s will work for me. i need mostly for architectural video.
The Weebill S works really well for heavier setups! I carry mine in hand for most the day without too much trouble while filming and moving between locations. It's a really great option. cheers and thanks for subscribing!
I would recommend looking at either the Weebill 2 or the DJI RSC 2 now. Both are significant upgrades from these. I have reviews of them here: ruclips.net/video/0Oj9OCrfrmY/видео.html
As always, another incredible video thank you so much for taking the time to compare these 2 gimbals. It seems to me if you are a simple run and go videographer And just want great stabilization with differences Camera and lens combos... without the fancy active track, the DJI is not the winner... i’ve been watching several videos about the new weeble lab and it’s crazy how much the payload is !!! Love your content!! Also I know that’s green screen because you actually live in LA right? Haha #jealous #Alaska
How does the Zhiyun Crane v2 compare to these two? My current setup is a sony a6100 with a sigma 16mm f1.4 lens. Could possibly go up to s full frame camera like the sony a7iii at some point.
I could not make the Weebill S work. I even tried it with the transmitter. I had to return it. I was so excited about it because I'm a solo creator as well and needed it the tracking. Bummer.
Oh that’s a bummer! Depending on what camera you use consider the ronin Sc. It has fantastic tracking ability. I did a whole video on that specifically here: ruclips.net/video/84AGE2aKQJs/видео.html I hope it helps! Cheers
Jake, have you had any issues going from underslung mode to normal with your Weebil? Seems there are comments re: this problem which I've read about today. Good work, as usual from you.
@@JakeSloan I'm primarily a wildlife, natural history shooter. So, when I see a location like this, I drool a bit. I live in Phoenix area and I have to drive a couple hours or more to find coniferous trees and reasons to wear a jacket or coat! I still have a Zhiyun Crane v2 with my GH5, but it failed me a bit on a very important shoot a couple days ago. I'll attempt to adjust settings, but I think it's time to upgrade. And now the DJI RSC2 is out, so I have to decide if the extra money for it and it's fancy features will serve my less flashy needs vs the Weebil.
Great comparison! I have an Olympus OM-D EM1 mark II camera that is not included in any of those gimbals' compatibility lists. Which features are not going to work in my case (e.g. will Focus Wheel work through Focus Motor)? DJI has not been able to give me any detailed answer in this matter ...
I’m still undecided between these two. My setup is Sony a6400+Sony E35mm f/1.8+Sigma 16mm f/1.4. I prefer the DJI software, but also prefer the form factor of Weebill S. Which is better in compatibility with my Sony?
Great job!! Glad to see that you have turned off the IBIS. It helps a lot to those of us who have cameras with no stabilization in the body. In your opinion, in which of the two models the lock mode works best in terms of stabilization? Thanks!
The Weebill S stabilization is incredibly good due to the stronger motors. So I’d have to go with that for lock mode. They both work well but the Weebill S just handles weight and movement a little better while keeping its small size!
@@JakeSloan Thank you very much for your answer. I've almost decided that this Weebill S may be the best option for me thanks to your video. I have a Ronin-S and, in general, it works fine, not perfect, but it's ok. The problem is that the lock mode is quite erratic and it doesn't follow a clean straight line, there are too many shakes (in all axes) that make it difficult to make a photo-hyperlapse for example. Something that I have easily achieved with GoPro gimbals like my old Zhiyun Rider M (and also with the Feiyu WG1 or G6). My question is about that: Does the Ronin-S continue with that 'malfunction' of the lock mode that the Ronin-S has? And the Weebill S is better keeping a straight path without shaking?
8:11 is that your dog or just so happens to be a great wildlife scene you just so happen to miss happening behind you? I have the Canon EOS R with heavy lenses and it's tough to decide between the RONIN S, SC or the Weebill S. Would a smaller lighter lens work better with the SC with an EOS R?
It was someone else’s dog behind me. They were playing fetch with a stick in the lake lol. I would take a serious look at the Weebill S for your use. If not then the ronin Sc would work with the R and smaller lighter lenses. The Weebill s will work with many heavier lenses though.
Jake another awesome video. Love your work and I am looking in doing similar kind of work / imagery minus vloging. I started with the Ronin SC though just returned it because of the release of the webill s and the fact that one of my lenses is the Sony 24-70/2.8 GM. What would be really helpful if at all possible is you doing a tutorial on how you step up your A7lll for gimbal work, I.e. focus settings and other tips that would be helpful. Curious with all the outdoor shooting you do what Sony Picture Profile do you like using ? Thanks again
Thanks Steven! I have been planning to do a video on how I set up my camera for shooting for a while now and you have pushed me to do it sooner rather than later lol. Stay tuned! On the picture profile I use PP1 but I changed the default quite a bit after using EOS HD pro color v4 settings for a bit. I then adjust the contrast shadows and highlights just a little bit in post. This video was particularly challenging to shoot. Strong backlighting and rapidly constantly changing from harsh sun to no sun kept me adjusting things constantly lol. Cheers and thanks again!
I just bought both the DJI Ronin SC and the Tamron 17mm - 28mm lens for my A7iii and shot with it a couple days ago. No issue with the eyepiece hitting.
Hi Jake, I currently have the A7iii with the Tamron 28-75. I m looking for a gimbal that could give me smooth footage with this combination. I ve tried the Weebill Lab but Im not satisfied with results, the Zhiyun Crane Plus a little bit better but not totally satisfied. My choice is between the Weebill S and Ronin SC. From your video it seems that the Ronin is a little bit shaky, can you confirm? For me having the smoothest result is the must, which one do you think is better for my needs and camera+lens combination? Many thanks and great video!
For that combo the Weebill S is super solid even if the lens is zoomed to its full range after being balanced at 28mm. The Weebill s is def the most stabilizing gimbal right now with larger setups.
Hi Jake, I loved your review. Just want to ask for help, I'm using canon 250D and I will be using it to shoot events such as weddings and birthdays, which gimbal would be the best for me? Weebil S or Ronin SC.
Fabulous video and appreciate all your effort to reply to so many comments. I am new to video ... I can use my phone with an App as a bigger screen. What is the difference between that, and, getting an actual video monitor? I've heard of "Zebra" as being a setting that is not on my Olympus OMD EM1.2 gather I would need a monitor to (?) to adjust other kinds of settings? thanks in advance
not a lot of difference other than maybe slightly less lag (depends on your app and the strength of connection). The camera app made by the camera maker usually has the most control over settings as well compared to this. Cheers!!
For that i believe you want to buy the pro kit or buy the focus motor separately! I have the correct one linked in the description of my Weebill lab accessory’s video. Cheers!!
Thanks for the review buddy. I did a comparison between the old Weebill Lab and Ronin SC and the Ronin SC was the better one. But now this Weebill S seems to be a bit better than the Ronin SC. But then again I think the Ronin SC is just one firmware update away so that it can handle heavier set ups as well. What do you think?
Hi Jake, thanks for the great video. This is probably going to be a stupid question, but on the compatibility list or the Zhiyun Weebill S, it doesn't have a listing for the Canon 70D but does for the 80D. Would you say the 70D is kinda sorta compatible or not at all? Thanks!
Thanks for the comparison, I've been wondering which one of these to get... Do you know if it's possible to have the active tracking with the Weebill S on a Canon M50, by any chance? It is not on the compatibility list so I wonder...
I just bought the weebill s 2 days ago. It was my first time on gimbal. I totally dont know how to use it. Seeing your footage is really fantastic. However i sold off today bcos it not compatible with canon eos r (mirrorles) 28 - 70 f2 lens. I will really like to take the video with that lens. So had to pick another one. Do you think ronin sc will be compatible?
How was the Weebill S not compatible? The Ronin SC will not be able to carry any where near the weight the Weebill S can so from a stabilization standpoint the Ronin SC will not be able to do as well.
@@JakeSloan it cant balance at all. We had to do balanfing at first. However the lens is so heavy that even we push the camera to the most inner part. It still fall off to the front
@@MrSkylines32 Im using a Panasonic S1 with 24-105 and 50 F1.4 lens combinations with the Weebill S. I think these setup is way heavier than the R. Maybe you need to balance it right XD.
Do I need the transmission module in order to use my smartphone as a second monitor for Zhiyun? And can you also program some focus points on Weebill in order to film yourself (saw in the dji app you can mark some spots where the camera should focus and what speed etc.). I have a sony a7iii and would love to go with the ronin-sc but it seems like Weebill-S is overall the better choice except for the app itself (also can handle my 16-35f4).
If you camera has WiFi and an app to monitor through then now. If you camera doesn’t have an app or you don’t want to plug a small external monitor directly into the camera then yes you will need the image transmission module to monitor video wirelessly. I have a video coming up focused on the wireless image transmission system!

I got the SC 6 months ago. Today i wish i bought the Weebill-s. There are so many small things wrong with the SC that are not abvious without a few weeks of testing.
Wow really? I used the Ronin SC for 8 months and still use it from time to time and I didn't find that much that was wrong with it
1:46 the Ronin SC actually is not stabilized at all :)
Def not as well as the Weebill.
The question is did He turn off the A7iii's in body stabilisation?
Thanks for sharing the comparison Jake. Enjoyed watching cheers 👍🙌
Thanks Adrian! Cheers mate. 😁
great vid, thanks for all your hard work on this, its much appreciated.
You're welcome!
Great comparison video, thanks Jake! ..and finally someone who chooses a beautiful location for a tech review :)
Another factor for me is product support.
Cheers!
Thanks for the great comparison !
You're welcome!
@@JakeSloan Great! Thank you.
Very clear and straight forward, thank you!
You're welcome!
Well, I bought my SC before the release and I wish there was a way to return it... Build quality is definitely good on SC but as an overall performer weebill S wins.
I dunno. The SC when setup well does a fantastic job! The Weebill S can def handle more weight but for lighter weight setups the ronin Sc does well
Nice clear review/comparison. Many Thanks
You're welcome thanks for watching!
Excellent comparison! keep the great work!
Thanks and I will do my best!!
Great review. Thanks!
Absolutely! Thanks for watching!!
Thank you Jake 🙌🏻 . Nice comparison 💯
You're welcome!
Awesome review Jake you have just made my mind up thank you....
Excellent glad I could help!
Great comparison, thank you!!
Thank you for watching!
Thank you! This is very helpful and exactly what I needed.
Excellent. So glad I could help! Which one would you choose?
@@JakeSloan Weebill-S. Was balancing between this and the Ronin SC.
Great choice. I’ve really been enjoying using mine. It’s been incredibly stable in all kinds of environments
Hi There Jake. Great honest comparison. Im going with the Weebill. Subbed and liked for some cool future content! Thanks for the video! :)
Thank you so much! Great choice on the gimbal. I’ll have a few more videos coming showing how to setup and use the gimbal app and modes etc. cheers!
The Weebil is my favorite, it also stabilizes better from what I've seen, and that's the most important thing at the end if the say for me... the form factor also is nicer imo
I agree the Weebill is fantastic and much more powerful than the ronin Sc
lol I guess you like the hardware and overall experience with Zhiyun (me too), while on the other hand DJI does have better Apps and software advantage tbh...
yeah at the moment it is that way but I think Zhiyun is catching up
Thank you for the review! Really help me to choose..
Excellent I’m glad I could help! Which one did you decide on and why? I’m curious to know lol. Cheers!
Great comparison. Super nice location!
Thank you so much! Which gimbal would you choose?
Wow. Great comparision , thanks a lot Jake.
Did you have any picture profiles on the A7iii? The blues and dynamic range in general are so much more better than the a6400. sure, it is a different league of camera but that different?
Thanks! I use the standard Picture profile
Super useful comparison thank you!
You’re welcome!!
Great vid Jake, loads of info though I still am undecided which is best for me,
I will be using the A6400,so no IBIS, paired with Sigma 16mm F1.4 and sony 18-105 f4,.....
what you guys recommend out of the two, which I know are both awesome btw.
Thanks in advance and hope you're all staying safe.
Thanks Ed! I would highly recommend the Weebill S for your setup.
Excellent Review, cut to the chase style 👍. Going to pick up the Weebill
Excellent choice! I’ve hardly picked up the robin sc since getting the weebill s.
@@JakeSloan Never really been a fan of DJI when all there stuff is app related. I Just need a solid tool which gets the job done haha
I wish I would've watched this before I bought the Weebill S! :) I'm going to return it and get the DJI RONIN SC, I'm a bid APP Usage guy, thanks for the review.
Youre welcome
Excellent. I’m really glad it helped you!!
I just ordered my Weebill S
Awesome!
this is very helpful and straight forward i have subscribed! i am using the crane plus and i really don't like it much. i would have
gone with the crane 2 but i am petite and its kinda big and heavy. i do use zoom lenses so i think the weebil s will work for me.
i need mostly for architectural video.
The Weebill S works really well for heavier setups! I carry mine in hand for most the day without too much trouble while filming and moving between locations. It's a really great option. cheers and thanks for subscribing!
I own an a7 camera and I wondering which one fits the best? Your video is super informative anyway.
I would recommend looking at either the Weebill 2 or the DJI RSC 2 now. Both are significant upgrades from these. I have reviews of them here: ruclips.net/video/0Oj9OCrfrmY/видео.html
great video jake!! keep up the good work!! SUBSCRIBED!!
Thank you!
Wow! Great video. Thank you. And fantastic location... Can't wait to visit Alaska.
Thanks!
Need this test with a pocket 4k with follow focus
Send me one and I’ll do it! Lol. Wish I had access to one to test with but unfortunately I do not.
ROFL yeah it's all green screen and stock footage 😜. Thanks Bryan!!
How does the Zhiyun Crane v2 compare to these two? My current setup is a sony a6100 with a sigma 16mm f1.4 lens. Could possibly go up to s full frame camera like the sony a7iii at some point.
I’d recommend looking at the weebill S or RSC 2 from DJI
@@JakeSloan thanks for the reply. I’m liking what I’m seeing with the Weebill S
Cheers
Great comparison.
Ty
Jake, have you had any issues going from underslung mode to normal with your Weebil? Seems there are comments re: this problem which I've read about today. Good work, as usual from you.
I haven't but I also haven't upgraded to the latest firmware yet. I had heard that it had issues
I went with the webill S and it’s amazing.
It really is mine is still going strong and it has been through some hard stuff!
Dùng tốt ko bác ơi e cũng mới bán ronin sc để sang wb s
i bought my weebil S 5 years ago...and it is till my go to gimbal in 2024. Rocks my Sony A7sIII in a Cage with my Sigma 24-70 F2.8 like a champ
The Weebill S is still a great gimbal!
How do you give this a thumbs down? This is so clear, such a good review. Doofuses! Subbed
lol thanks I appreciate that
@@JakeSloan I'm primarily a wildlife, natural history shooter.
I don't know but have you looked at the compatibility list on Zhiyun's website? It might provide some answers
Great video - thanks ☺️
For Sony a6400, which one would you recommend me? I mean is Weebill S is great option for a6400?☺️
I would highly recommend the Weebill S now. It’s an excellent gimbal!
@@JakeSloan Thank you so much for the fast response ☺️ yes I thought so but I wasn't sure.. it's even smaller and cheaper ☺️ have a great time.
You’re welcome!
Hey Jake, loved the video! Please consider having the music less loud when you’re talking. Subscribed to your channel anyway
I have moved away from music in my videos when I am talking. Thanks for the feedback!
I’m still undecided between these two. My setup is Sony a6400+Sony E35mm f/1.8+Sigma 16mm f/1.4. I prefer the DJI software, but also prefer the form factor of Weebill S. Which is better in compatibility with my Sony?
They both have the same compatibility for start and stop recording etc. neither one can adjust camera settings from the gimbal
The Weebill s does a very good job at lock mode. The Ronin SC does a good job as well. both do a better job than the ronin S did
I have a Weebil S with my G85. Pretty epic, can't wait to do some real stuff with it.
Enjoy! I love my weebill S. It’s been awesome
Another great video for those of us trying to decide which one to get
Thanks!
Thanks for the review! I went with the Ronin SC for now :) I can't wait to try motion lapse :D
Fantastic! I did some motion timelapses in my ronin Sc review and I really like it.
Jake , great review . If using with Sony A7iii & Tamron 28-75 setup which one you recommend? I need this for my events coverage . Thanks in advance .
I would def look at the weebill S. It’s pretty much all I’ve been using since doing this video. Cheers!
Jake Sloan Thank you Jake . Appreciate your quick reply . 👍
Fabulous review!!! thanks ... any idea if the Weebill S will work with the A7S iii? thanks
it does work just like the A7III does!
Thank you very much, your video is very instructive and helpful !
Fantastic glad I could help!
I just bought both the DJI Ronin SC and the Tamron 17mm - 28mm lens for my A7iii and shot with it a couple days ago. No issue with the eyepiece hitting.
That lens doesn’t have an issue it’s the 28-75 and larger lenses that run into the rear arm
Jake Sloan aw okay... I haven’t tried the other one yet. I’m loving the 17-28 though... great combination
Amazing location! Where was this shot?
edit - looks like you're in Alaska. Beautiful!
Yes Alaska the place I call home lol. You can see lots of Alaska in my videos. It provides a wonderful backdrop!
Jake Sloan Live in Alaska too, just sub I want start a channel too from the Last Frontier!
@@JakeSloan Thanks man! I will definitely try it!
Very good, thank you, orderd the weebill

Hi Jake, I loved your review. Just want to ask for help, I'm using canon 250D and I will be using it to shoot events such as weddings and birthdays, which gimbal would be the best for me? Weebil S or Ronin SC.
the Webill S for sure
Nice video i am using the crane 3 lab its a beast.
Awesome. I haven’t had the chance to try one of those out but from everything I’ve heard it’s fantastic.
Anchorage looks good during this time. It is snowing like crazy in the North Pole.
We got a fair bit of snow the last few days finally but it’s been late coming!

Weebill S for sure, I just wish I waited on that instead of getting the weebill lab 😐
Did you get the Lab recently? I used and really liked my Lab for the 9 months I had it.
@@JakeSloan I got it back in July and I do really like it, but when I use heavier lenses it'll act a little wonky
Ahhh I see. Well when it’s time for an upgrade you might have even better choices available! Cheers!!
Cheers!!
@@JakeSloan Appreciate ... the response!
Which one can I use for my Canon EOS 2000D. It's a mirrored camera.
The Weebill S will work with that camera easily.
@@JakeSloan Thank you for your fast response. Does it come with a spinning motor for the lens or should I buy it separately.
For that i believe you want to buy the pro kit or buy the focus motor separately! I have the correct one linked in the description of my Weebill lab accessory’s video. Cheers!!
@@JakeSloan thank you
Best video comparison
Thank you very much!
I think so as well! The ronin Sc still beats the Weebill s in smart features though.
Gary Jahman not sure how much the firmware can help with the motor power
Thank you for your wisdom!
You're welcome! Cheers
Hi Jake, thanks for the great video. This is probably going to be a stupid question, but on the compatibility list or the Zhiyun Weebill S, it doesn't have a listing for the Canon 70D but does for the 80D. Would you say the 70D is kinda sorta compatible or not at all?
Thanks!
It’s should treat It pretty much exactly the same. Not a lot changed from the 70 to the 80 in terms of control or software.
@@JakeSloan Thank you!
Thanks for the comparison, I've been wondering which one of these to get... Do you know if it's possible to have the active tracking with the Weebill S on a Canon M50, by any chance? It is not on the compatibility list so I wonder...
It does have an hdmi out so I would say yes however for object tracking to work you will need the image transmitter as well.
@@JakeSloan I see, thank you so much for the answer!
Of Course
I tried many time. Mine cant is bcos of the lens. R WITH 24-105 lens is fine. With the 28-70 is 2kg. The lens is very massive
@@MrSkylines32 my camera with the lense is more than 3kg and the s can handle it. Maybe you should try ronin S but not sc. Sc is weaker than weebil s.
