This reminds me that although most of the fighting on the western front in WWI required going ‘over the top’, there was also a lot that was below even the level of the trenches because of all the tunnelling that was done, which sometimes entailed very close quarters fighting. This would make for a very interesting - though probably even more challenging - project in creating a board, potentially allowing two levels of fighting occurring simultaneously. (Your bunker might even have a basement level, increasing its market value)..
While I’m sure this is well within your abilities, I don’t think it would fit the Doggerland setting
due to the ground being freshly reclaimed from the sea. However this didn’t prevent the extensive tunnelling that took place historically not all that far inland, so maybe it could be feasible. Please ask the author when you next speak.
With regard to the UV putty you were using, which I noticed in your earlier video about building the board, is this generally available? I don’t 3D print but as you showed, this could have a lot of uses.

I actually love the look of unpainted kit bashed models (and thus also unpainted gaming tables). You can really tell what materials where used. I think modellers can see what you did better in that way. Of course if you wanna eventually play on the table, it makes sense to paint the whole thing.

What a nice interview - it would be great to see the long form version.
It's always nice to get an impression on what the rules designer's core aims were and what inspired them/what they had in their head while creating the lore (this can sometimes get buried in overly chunky rulebooks)
as the old saying goes "a doggerland man's home is his bunker (/possible ritual sacrifice site)"

Absolutely captivating!! I thoroughly enjoyed the blend of fact and fiction, skillfully intertwining them while maintaining a grounded approach. The metaphorical 'kitbashing' of ideas-comparing returning German soldiers of WWI with far-right "Freikorps" to alternate landscapes like Doggerland and No Man's Land-added depth. Exploring historical perspectives and the insight into the role of rules in fostering randomness - making the world more engaging. The interview's portrayal of the setting, with you and Silburn-Slater interacting through the computer screen, brought a realistic touch.

That bit about Russian conscripts has me thinking about the Bolshevik Revolution. I don't know if the book covers Russia. But it makes me think about how Russia had to exit WWI to deal with the death of the Tzar and the Bolsheviks trying to overthrow the government. I imagine, when the planet itself is thrown into upheaval and magic returns, the Reds and the Whites would naturally need to pause their civil war to deal with that.
"Boris, it is terrible! We cannot keep fighting the loyalists right now, because Baba Yaga is stealing our souls!"
Obviously, the ceasefire won't last forever. It might change, though. A three front war for control of Russia. The Red, the White, and the _Black._ With the Black being the forces of flesh-hungry Baba Yaga, the _things_ from the earth she whipped into formation, and the humans pledged to her due to fear and despair and veneration for the old ways.

    • @Ainar86

@@52Miniatures Yes, that one! I sometimes add water or airbrush thinner when covering a porous material to make it penetrate it better. When thinned you can cover large areas pretty quickly with it but for some materials it might require a second or third coat for best seal. I once used it to make papier mache and it was as hard as plastic after drying.
