Today we have a build for Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist in Dungeons & Dragons! She's got giant claws and is (almost) invincible, that should make for a solid combo in D&D 5e.

So often people point out the strengths of these builds as the best part of them, but I HAVE to applaud the inclusion of her seeming weakness to fire by neglecting dex saves. Incredible build that exemplifies the idea of building an interesting character with mechanical crunch rather than making the ‘best’ character.
That's what I was going to point out! Joking about when would a dex saving throw would come in handy for her just made me think of all the fails on a fireball being perfection.
Absolutely. Characters' weaknesses are just roleplay opportunities in waiting! My shifter barbarian with low CHA gets to be cutely shy and unsure of himself in a world with scary magic he doesn't understand (when he isn't just swinging his axe at a monster).
I thought about fire ball when he said that but I failed to comprehend the depth until now. Thank you for this gift.
I don’t watch him for the optimization at all I see a lot more optimization with my players then with him But when I Want FLAVOR. He is the one I go to.
For those who didn’t get the joke, the voice actors for lust and Roy in the English dub are married IRL
and they're both members of Critical Role.
I didn't know that, thanks!
I can just imagine playing this in a campaign.
Wizard: So you're telling me our tank is quite literally a LIVING weapon?
Bard: (frothing violently at the mouth)
Lust is the primary example I think of to illustrate that you have more spell slots than the boss has legendary resistances.
Great build
My man Roy Mustang really just said "I will use as many fireballs as I need to in order to kill you!"
"LOOKS LIKE I WAS ABLE TO GET YOU ON YOUR KNEES AFTER ALL!"
--- Col. Roy Mustang 2010
I like the flavor of the female barbarian being a sexy lady archetype
it's refreshingly different
Yes, it is an interesting contrast of archetypes.
Laura Bailey is easily one of my favorite voice actresses, excited to see how you build Lust!
Facts Travis is also fantastic
The fact that Laura voices Lust always slips my mind, which is so funny because I never forget that Travis voices Roy.
Hexblade beast barbarian just sounds... so fun, I really want to make one now. Start hexblade, but slowly due to the pact's influence, you are the one becoming the living weapon...
For a similar concept, Keith Baker's "Dread Metrol" has an Artificer subclass called "Mastermaker". I'd personally call it somewhat over-powered, but there are some neat ideas there.
You know I was looking through Tiefling virtue names in Xanathar's Guide. When I saw Lust I immediately thought of FMA. Next thing you know I'm making a Tiefling Eagle Totem Barbarian with a whip that's all about mobility and having a zone of control for opportunity attacks. For roleplay she'd be distantly descended from a succubus, be chaotic neutral, and basically does what she wants to get what she wants through either seduction or combat. And naturally she uses her large personalities to distract weaker willed warriors. And to me the more I developed her levels the more perfect the idea and imagery became. Like instead of an eagle her totem would be flavored as a bat so when she gets flight she sprouts her demonic wings and flies around with whip lashing everything in her path like a madwoman.
“Especially Roy Mustang for some reason, can’t imagine why that is…” hehe
It must of been an strange convo between Bailey and Travis when they are talking about one of the characters they play kills the other
I'm pretty sure i remember Travis saying he needed therapy after "killing his wife" and hearing her screaming like that
Oh no, poor Travis. I mean it shows how good of a voice actress his wife is if she can scare him like that I guess.
Fans who've seen the Lady Dimitrescu build: "Hey, I've seen this one before! It's a classic!"
What do you mean you’ve seen it? It’s brand new
To everyone pointing out how the build has Deception from both the race and the class: he's giving the build all the Charisma skills, so he probably meant to say Performance since he mentions using it later in the video.
Alternately, you can start with your Cha at 14 and use the 2 spare points to put your Str at 14, so instead of starting with 13, 12, 14, 10, 10, 17, your stats are 14, 12, 14, 10, 10, 16. You don't lose anything from your Cha, but your Str modifier is 1 point higher at Level 1. Then you can use your first ASI for +2 Cha instead of +1 Str and Cha, and still be at 18 Cha, and you don't have to be looking at two useless odd numbers on your sheet for 6 levels.
Lust walked so Lady D could run, but I'd imagine both have a hard time running with those heels
"Speaking of hot, hi, it's me" what I wouldn't do for that level of self confidence
Idk if maybe I imagined it but I vaguely remember you talking about a potential side series where your builds fight each other. But this it's exciting to see more build from this great series none the less.
I would watch the heck outta this!
Kind of funny that Laura Bailey (Lust) is married to Travis Willingham (Roy Mustang)
Always excited for a warlock/barbarian multiclass. Even more excited for a whip barbarian. This was the best of both worlds
I feel like Eldritch Blast wouldn't be a bad way to represent the long, pointy finger attack. A bit surprised you didn't go that way.
Use this and the lady Deumustuis build and you have quite the intimidating and arousing monster twin villains of your campaign~
I still find it so ironic that dub mustang and lust's voice actors are married
that is an oof
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Hexblade weapon feature says "Whenever you finish a long rest, you CAN touch one weapon that you are proficient with and that lacks the two-handed property." Wouldn't that mean that your hexblade property carries over each day without needing to reapply it?
I always understood it as touching a weapon when finishing a long rest is only required when changing your weapon to something new.
If so, you would only need to rage once and apply it to your barbarian claws then it's set as long as you don't change it. Thoughts?
Depends on how the paragraph follows. It could also be that the "can" refers that you can decide to not have a hexblade weapon for that day.
I don't have the book sadly, so I can't look it up for you.
@@arend681 Here is the full paragraph from dndbeyond on my Hexblad characters sheet:
You gain proficiency with medium armor, shields, and martial weapons. Whenever you finish a long rest, you can touch one weapon that you are proficient with and that lacks the two-handed property. With that weapon, you can use your CHA modifier for the attack and damage rolls until you finish your next long rest. You can also use your CHA modifier for the attack and damage rolls for any of your pact weapons if you have that feature.
@@thephantomdecidueye5329 Reading that full paragraph, yeah, it would have to be re-applied each long rest, but you do also have the option to just not pick a weapon to get that benefit. Good eye.
Edit: Although, re-reading that last bit, it would **not** have to be re-applied to pact weapons.
Near the end of the section on hex warrior it indicates that "This benefit lasts until you finish a long rest" so if this works at all you would need to do it at the start of every day. To make matters worse, I would say that going strictly by the rules that the claws cease to exist when the rage ends and this means that hex warrior would not continue after that point .
That being said, if one my players wanted to play a character like this I would likely allow them to house rule it so that at the start of the day they can choose their claws as their hex weapon without using a rage. Having fun is more important and this definitely wouldn't break the game.
That’s how I run it, I agree
This was a really good build!! Honestly kinda expected undying warlock, but as usual tulok knows what he's doing much better than I do afdsfg
To note: Your Superiority die from the fighting style does not change to a d8 the moment you become a Battle Master, it isn't until your gain the feature that turns all your dice into d10's that the fighting style (or the feat one, for that matter) that they grow
Awesome video man I love the fullmetal alchemist builds, alphonse is my build right now and I love it! I also wanted to ask if you could do Greed next I would love to see that.
That segue into the ad copy was ::chef's kiss::
Love the build, love the dump trunk amount of HP...
Such confidence and beauty. You are the best sir.
4:37 that joke... that's gonna be the funniest thing I hear this week
Man ive been waiting for something like this
Great video as always
The song choices are top tier
Been waiting for this!!
Please keep making riposte as ridiculous as possible! 😂
Love your humor Tulok, thanks for always bringing a smile
Love this build!!!
Whoa, you got a lot of fuel out of the Roy vs Lust fight. All those fire jokes heat up this build, really made it pop and crackle.
I'm not as good at that as you are.
It was nice of you to think of Gluttony while building this.
"This girl is on fire" strait up had me dead 😭 🔥
A truly wonderful build
"And speaking of being incredibly hot, it's me."
Sir, I just woke up.
A great mix of build, flavor, and that spicy heat. Hide from your opponent's Fireball cause this one ain't making the save.
I do so love the Barbarian multiclasses on this channel
That intro song - when the "on FIIIIIIRE" hit I straight up ugly laughed
That intro got me real good
Fighter isn't the only class to get extra...
Oh wait, I see what you're doing.
Gotta get that RUclips comment section engagement up there somehow if they don't have True Strike 🤣😂😁
Great job on the build, and fun video as always!
Love the Lust/Mustang chemistry comment.
Thank you for Kirk and Spock. Still pulling for Eglantine Price (Bednobs and Broomsticks), Winifred Sanderson (Hocus Pocus), Prince Voltran (Flash Gordon), Counselor Troi (Star Trek: tNG), Mary Poppins, and the Reverend Doctor Syn (The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh). Bugs Bunny would be great too. Sir Dragonet King Arthur's court jester (Idylls of the King/Morte d'Arthur) would be good too.
Heck yes, please give us Miss Eglantine Price! I want to see Tulok's take on Substitutiary Locomotion.
You should make a James Bond build, you did an Austin Powers build that was spectacular lol I'd love to see what you do with a real spy, similar to how you built Sherlock. Keep up the awesome work!!!!
Tulok: Being hot is not a personality
Roy Mustang: What about extra crispy?
Welp almost spat out my drink when the music ooen started. Wow.
ok, but the musical sting at the start was VERY good
that intro song had me dying!
“I wonder why that is”
If you know, you know
I'd be really interested in seeing a build for Paul Atreides from Dune.
Me, a simpleton: A-loose-tia?
Tulok, an intellectual: A-luh-sha
Love to see Gluttony. Or even Pride from Brotherhood.
Just saying reflavor eb to be claws. At max you fire off four finger blades
Thats what i was saying, maybe even create one of his homebrew weapons!
I’d love to see an attempt at building the characters from Order of the Stick. Are they already D&D characters? Yes, but they’re from 3.5e which is basically a different game
I know it's not likely but I would love to see a build for the oots cast, esp since with the exception of Elan, they're all suboptimal by 3.5 standards and have various weaknesses built in to their builds. I'd love to see how they'd look in 5e
@@JaelynMcgee You'd also have to assign them subclasses, since those didn't exist in 3e
@@thegayghost872 yeah. which is relatively easy but also difficult at the same time. They'd all probably end up optimized as a result of how well a lot of the various classes mesh with each other. Which ones would you pick for the main crew?
@@JaelynMcgee Battle Master, Thief, Evocation, Monster Slayer, Swords and Tempest
@@thegayghost872 Hmm, I never actually thought of monster slayer for Belkar but ot works really well, esp with the few barbarian levels he gets. and V would be ridiculous if they got access to the entire spell list, instead of just being restricted to spells that blow things up. It's a good set up for them all
Thanks.
Baelin from Baelin's Route from Epic NPC man. The unkillable fisherman!
I was thinking earlier today where’s my tuloc video
"Speaking of incredibly hot, hi it's me"
Me: "He's got a point there"
I hate to say it, but the scene of Greed 1.0 being melted down really does make him look like Spamton G. Spamton.
I feel like everytime we see him, Tulok is somehow even hotter.
He's a babe for sure.
he's been working out and eating right 👌👌
I’m not jealous of his thick, wavy locks…shut up!
I would love a How to play Eris Greyrat (from Mushoku Tensei)
It's funny how Reborn works for her Brotherhood and 2003 backstories, but in very different ways.
Fun fact: the voice actor who plays Roy Mustang is married to the voice actress who plays Lust.
*Pushes up glasses*
Um, Actually.....it's rippity dippity, Sir.
I vote for mercury next....also that joke about Laura and Travis (Lust VA and Roy VA) being married love it.
Build the red guy from Cow and Chicken, please
Ya know what this should have been titled?
Lust from FMA, aka.
D&D, and DD.
Can you build a platypus, it should be easy, they don't do much. WAIT! PERRY THE PLATYPUS!!!
Dm: yeah dex saves won't come up often *sweats nervously looking at the npc sheet of the fire flinging spellcaster*
This is neat and all, but you know what would be equally neat? A Beetlejuice build
Can you do Greed next?
Please do a build for Chop Chop from Skylanders.
I made Lust once in 3e, made her a warshaper.
This is when I learned I cant play DnD well as I rolled a critical fail and broke my arm. Yeah...
Yeah got no luck for rolls. Still would love to find a group to play but Id end up dead from tripping or something dumb.
Double deception Race and Warlock
Can you do Izumi Curtis next?!?!
Keep up the great work you make great videos.
Ainz someday maybe plz?
oh man, i hope Sailor Mercury is the one that wins. she was my favorite.
"Ouroboros abhors this world"
How would you make a Mad Hatter build?
Can you do a build on Godzilla or Professor X
3:12 so we need to choose Deception before becoming a Warlock.... then choose for the Warlock Skill Deception as well?
But doesn't attacking with Charisma mean that you can't use Rage damage bonus and Reckless Attack because they require attacking with Strength?
That's what the rules say
you should make turn Re:Zero characters into DnD characters, i want to see you try making Reinhard Van Astrea, the Witches of Sin and the Sin Archbishops into DnD 5e characters
Get as many magic hands as possible, telekinesis is required
Speaking of Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham, is it worth it to make any characters from Critical Role/Legend of Vox Machina? Since they are already D&D characters, would the builds be pretty straightforward? Do the players have a copyright on them, or something?
Well, their character sheets are already available online, so it's probably pointless
Can you do Liu Kang?
I'm surprised she's not a Long Death Monk or Undying Warlock. Both excel at not dying, Monk would increase her AC, and she'd be able to disregard having things thrown at her face. Knives, bullets, arrows. It's all a minor inconvenience to her. Plus, she has the stone in her chest that she pulls health from if you need to justify the undying warlock.
She very famously isnt good at dex saves, so evasion wouldnt be great on her
another week, another wish that I win the lottery so I can afford tulok's totally fair but very expensive commission prices.
Is there any place where we can suggest the next characters for you to do a "How to play... in D&D"?
So, wait- if you’re using your Charisma, doesn’t that mean you’re losing out on a couple of the barbarian abilities that require you to use Strength?
What book is the Reborn from? I don't seem to have it
Tulok the Character Build Alchemist
Wondering why d&d beyond does not list Unearthed Arcana?
The hottest character I've ever seen, Tulok is the dream!
Can we have the Punisher please?
Can we please get Quasimodo as a build?
Since you have a weapon in each have, couldn't you use two weapon fighting?
Can you do the shield hero from the rising of the shield hero?
He already did, two years ago. Ep.123
Didn't he already do that? He's just an abjuration wizard with a tank build anyways.
@@KingTwelveSixteen idk. I'll have to look at the play list.
