This is a build I tried making myself, and in retrospect it's a little embarrassing how, for all the ways I approached the build, I didn't think of bard in order to get stoneskin.
I stand by making Ling a monk tho.

He's pretty much only good with swords and brawling, but he also has a hidden talent in heavy armor.
He's fairly straight-forward except his defenses are great.
Heck yeah! I've been saying for a while that bards make good "monks" with the number of self buffing spells they get(just call your magic "ki"), and especially the college of swords bard. If you take unarmed fighting style and your DM lets you use Dex with it(they should) it gets even better, but if not just one level of monk works.
Bards can fill almost any role if they're skilled properly, they're quite literally the jack of all trades
Why should the DM let you do DEX with Unarmed fighting if you aren't a Monk? Thats one of the Monk's core features
The unarmed fighting style specifically calls out Str for a reason. It's meant to fill the role of straightforward brawling and grappling, covering styles that there's no mechanical incentive for a Monk to use, and available on classes with no armor restrictions. It does a disservice to both the Monk and to the classes with the Fighting Style feature to just allow Dex with that style, unless there's a bunch of homebrew being used already, since it exists for people that want to play toward Str.
...Would still allow it to combo with a 1 level Monk dip, though, as that expressly lets you use Dex with any unarmed strike. But, grappling is still Str (Athletics), so you're no better off than just using a quarterstaff/spear with Martial Arts (if only concerned with damage), or the options of battleaxe/longsword/trident/warhammer with Dedicated Weapon if you have a race or multiclass for one of those proficiencies (racial being the most fun part about the option, since that's some potentially nice roleplay flavor on top of the mechanical benefit).

Holy crap! Ling from FMA Brotherhood?! Hell yeah! One of if not my favorite side character of the series.
Since the 19th level of bard is kinda useless, wouldn't it make sense to take the 2nd warlock level for the eldritch invocations armor of shadows and fiendish vigor?
I mean it boosts con to 16 which is an extra 20 hp and makes the save a plus 9 which is always nice, but like tulok always says make it your own.
I'm more in the camp of "Eldritch Sight" plus Devil's Sight to show his heightened senses.
you could probably cut out a few levels of bard just so you can still squeeze the Kensei in there
I'd have replaced the mage armor spell with death ward and taken armor of shadows to replace it.
Kinda surprised that Warlock wasn't carried far enough for Armor of Shadows.
I might alter this a bit and go to warlock 3 for pact of the blade, because then I could homebrew some sort of weapon that is like a gauntlet to mimic greed’s hard skinned claw attacks, thus having the option of sword and that for the sake of theme. Great build!
How about pact of the tome for primal savagery?

Artillerist battlemaster
Variant human with gunner feat
Repeating shot pistol, offhand gun is her turret
Her rifle is the arcane firearm staff
Artillerist spells flavored as gadgets, like fireball grenades
Artillerist is the best way to dual wield firearms because DMG pistols arent light, and the artillerist can't misfire

How to build: Orko from He Man
Goals:
1. Quirky Magic: there are no bad spells only bad casters, use creative ways to make even the most obscure spell work wonders.
2. Luck and Pluck: despite what the critics say you are a master of the universe, with that comes a lot of guts.
Race:
Orko is a trollan from trolla, both not in dnd, so when in doubt a tabaxi of the arcane arts.
Spells of focus: playing as orko means your foregoing the destruction based spells, but rewards creative thinking and true skill.
8:19 slight correction here, you only get *one* extra first level slot. You dont get the second until level 2

Goals:
1. Good with a sword.
2. Artifacts(Adol finds alot of these in his adventures, only to loss them later.)
3. Map it(Adol has experience in Cartography)

I know barely anything about FMA and don't know who Ling is, I'm just watching because I love Tulok and his videos. They give me great ideas for characters.
Ling has learned the ancient art of sensing the flow of energy. This is the only time where Perception and Wisdom makes sense together and yet he dumps that stat
He did take proficiency in perception though

Ah yes, best girl! My best guess is variant human (tiefling?) dragon sorcerer/dragon monk multiclass. Sadly, dragonborn look like dragon furries, not cute anime girls.
I don't know why but when i heard "durability, good sword stuff and immortality" and saw charisma and strength being prioritized I immediately thought "ancients paladin." Might just be because I like paladins, but good build as always Mr. The Barbrarian, thank you for your work!
While Hexblade is a nice catch-all patron, I think it actually works best for the Homunculi anyway. "Mysterious entity from the Shadowfell" certainly fits Father or Pride at least, but all the Homunculi have kind of a shadowy aesthetic.
I love how Greed's full shield has tusks. I think it's super sexy that they turn him into a half-orc like that

I totally thought this was going to be a kinsei monk majority build. Ki is even referenced in the story! I was not expecting Bard, but Swords-Bard makes enough sense. I can imagine Ling pretending to be a traveling performer as he makes the trip from Xing to Amestris.

Aw dang I was hoping you'd use the new Undead Warlock for Greed because the Form of Dread works so well from his unbreakable armor form. Though as I write this while I realize is has the flavor it also has other things Greed doesn't do, so oh well for that thought lol
You know who else could potentially be a Hexblade Warlock? Jesse Faden from Control. Although, she could also be any number of other classes.
I think Jesse would make a good Warlock/Wizard multiclass, especially with access to Catapult.
@@OrangeyChocolate maybe Warlock/Sorcerer? Since she doesn't study for her powers, they're just a part of her/granted by another. Plus, that keeps everything on Charisma.

Lol I was just asking about that on the tulok and discord chat. I'd go for 5 levels in samurai/ and the rest in hexblade and sword bard. Kensei monk also works for Yoh, but it all depends on how you want to do the shaman abilities since Yoh for the most part is a pretty strictly physical fighter.

I was able to create greed ultimate shield in a super interesting way with armor of shadows invocation giving at will mage armor a abjuration wizard of mine had a reflavored diamond skin transformation at level 10 he could spend 1 minute to fully recharge his 25 hp barrier and it was even better because of his ac making the most tanky wizard possible.

Ling is pretty ninja-esk, i would have built him with a few levels of Monk and Rouge. But this works too

Personally I would’ve done swashbuckler rogue with hexblade because that’s just how I’d do it. But great video nonetheless. My only issue is, how do I get advantage on my weapon attacks next turn? You didn’t pick up the best cantrip so how am I supposed to get advantage? Horrible video disliked

How to play Luther Strode in Dungeons and Dragons.
I'd argue favoring Str over Dex to support Alter Self attacks and such was unnecessary even on a flavor basis, since Ling was never as good at using his carbonized limbs as offensive weapons as the initial incarnation of Greed was. Greed before being paired with Ling was a Str fighter, but GreedLing is a Dex character with some suboptimal Str-based options. He doesn't even use Ultimate Shield for full coverage most of the time, just covering where he's going to block with instead since he's fast enough to not favor standing in place to tank hits.
Though, Ling is still decently strong, so it would be a straight swap between Str and Dex of the base stats you gave.

As I understand it, you spend a whole action, and on your next turn, you have resistance to non-magical and non-elemental damage for that round. That seems drastically bad to me.

Tulok often puts suboptimal spells in their list because it fits with the character.
