I used to do gymnastics but now I do tumbling, the only things I need to move up levels is a handstand roll, a rebounded round-off (You see, I’m getting back into this kind of stuff since I was really good at gymnastics like 3 years ago, so I’m not as good as I was), and a backwards roll. I can do the backwards roll, I’m just always on my knees at the end instead of ending standing up... I don’t even know why it’s so hard for me now? 😂
I just picked up Floor 2 and having a blast exploring all this awesome tumbling. These cues are super helpful on helping me straiten out my backward roll, thanks a bunch

Hey! I’ve been having such a hard time with this for at least a year but today I found this video finally got how to do it!!! Thank you!! I practiced a lot and made many successful rolls!
Most important thing is to make sure they don't allow their elbows to pop out to the sides. As long as elbow position is solid, they can support their weight through the transition. Might need to work on wrist flexibility some and emphasize keeping the kneed glued to the chest.
bro, I was trying to do this for months and couldn't. It appears the only thing i needed to do was tug my chin in and round my upper back and boom. done haha. Thanks alot!!!
Andreas Sokratous I just watched this and that’s what clicked for me too. I can’t wait to get in the gym and see if not tucking my chin was my only problem. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
I did it, the key for me was to stretch my legs out straight like he did at 0:51. Then it just happens automatically, I didn't even really need to push with my hands they were just there for support. Keep going everyone, you can do it :)
Thanks so much this worked. Also i have dance class and i did this infront of my teacher, she was so amazed she let me do this in a dance competiton and i got 1st.
Practice. And then practice again. Maybe not what you want to hear but it's tough getting things the first time you try them. Check out this other tutorial we have called How to Roll to Break Your Fall on our RUclips channel and it will also help you with your back rolls.
Stay tucked until your toes are almost rotated to the mat, then extend the body by stretching the legs out and straightening the back. Keep the chin tucked and butt tight.
@@gmbfit Thanks!! I watched a lot of videos, but I was afraid to apply momentum fearing my neck might pop :D I watched your video, and in that frame I saw you go through the roll while legs are back with almost zero momentum, that was what I needed to do to succeed :D Thanks again!!
GMB Fitness Ok I tried doing it. Now I have back pain since then and its been a week. How do I get rid of back pain. It's like one location and hurts when I jump
I learnt how to do it today on a hill and you just kinda have to go for it. Keep pushing on your head (try not to hurt yourself) and keep trying going further and further back until eventually you manage to go over. Then you'll know what the maneuver is and will be less scared. That's how I learned anyway
I keep doing a shoulder roll instead of a backroll! Any ideas why i am falling into a shoulder roll instead? Do I have an unknown fear? is my body not able to do a backroll? Please help me
I'm a skater and this save me multiple times from hitting my head on the concrete the number one move to get out of a bad situation and I also did parkour and wrestling
Awesome. I did it only thrice bfor this but without using my hands n it really hurt my neck(thank God I didn't get injured) after this tutorial I felt so stupid for not using my hands....thnx alot
Holy moly! The moment I pulled this off was such an amazing feeling! This really helped both my ability’s and my confidence. I literally screamed out loud on my lawn when I pulled it off. Thank you!!
thank you very much. basically you need to do it fast, not very fast but give it an ok start, push a little to ensure your heart is safe and let your weight do the rest .
I can do the version into the hand stand but not the simlle version. I dont understand where my head should go its tucked completely to my chest and i am pushing like crazy with my arms. I definitely dont lack the flexibility or stength.... confusing 😂
Simile version? Not sure which one you're referring to, however, if you've got the form down then try to slow it down or oppositely, speed it up to use momentum to see if one or the other works better for you. Might just be a matter of practice.
I only watched 1:30 of it and I went on the floor and did the back roll.
