  • Today on Steam Culture, Brent talks about Russia's steam powered truck the 1949 NAMI 012. This truck was built to get away from the lack of affordable oil based fuels and use the resources around them. This steam powered truck helped rebuild Russia after World War 2.

We should be using more steam electric hybrid. Wood pellets, propane, There are more viable options for affordable, available fuel. Turbines are the best for generating electricity that goes directly to a battery bank. Electric means no weight time. Give it a gear box to save power consumption. The 3 technologies help each other perfectly to extend range and deliver power. External combustion, electricity generation and gears. A steam car went 132 mph in 1925. We ran our battle ships with steam electric. Tinkering with small steam turbines and electric bicycles could be promising.

Love your T-shirt and you're Friday topics. Also thoughts and prayers go out to the people in your community affected by the house explosion in Jeffersonville, Indiana. I was a first responder / service technician for 35 years for the gas utility in St Louis, Missouri and was glad to hear the local utility had nothing to do with this one. Hopefully the investigators can find out what the cause was inside the home. Again thanks so much for your videos and knowledge you so freely share on social media. I can assure you the topics you cover help keep our communities safe in ways you cannot even imagine ; just need more people to participate in our Industries to share the knowledge & education.

Triple cycled and re-cooling would solve the water problem..like for the third cycle, use a turbine for the auxiliaries, batteries and pumps

Have you seen the British sentinel which was made before these and was a lot better than this Russian thing due to the boiler being water tube and not fire tube which somehow made a better vertical boiler. There is a RUclips called doubleboost that has videos of the larges sentinel made running and some of when they had the cab off so you can see the boiler.

Why steam instead of wood gas generators?

Probably efficiency. Wood gas generators are pretty inefficient, generating a lot of waste heat. The efficiency of the car engine on wood gas is also not great. It might very well be that a conventional steam engine and boiler consume less wood.
But this is mostly speculation. I am completely certain that there have been studies about that in the 1940s, i just don't know where to find them.

wood gas actually sucks ass it just barely works and most gasoline cars can use it with minor modification that's why it's semi popular
