I was wrong though. Thought this was the trans member but I got it figured out. Remember I dont have the trailing arm member yet. I'll be buying that off your site
Just discovered your channel and love the builds. I'm curious though if this crossmember could be adapted to other year trucks. I imagine as long as the frame rails are similar width, it should be simple enough with maybe some new frame brackets.
Awesome parts. There are many choices now for this. Im excited to get to work on my 64. Ive owned my C10 since 1989 and the future looks great for our trucks. Great Video.
I had already bought a trailing arm x member to replace my stock one because my driveshaft is super close to the top. I hadn’t seen this one. Just ordered it and will sell the other one. Love that you build the first gen C10s as they seem not to get the love like the 67-72s
Replaced my cross member about a month ago. Wish I had seen this, I like the quality and three piece design. I used the one piece CCP for a 4” static drop because that’s what I’m going with. Two things, that reinforcement strip on the bottom of the frame has a purpose to strengthen the frame where the cross member mounts and from what I can tell, this design would allow you to leave the outer two rivets and the plate attached. I too replaced my rusted trailing arms. I went with stock replacements from Dynacorn. After reading about how trailing arm suspensions work and how GM designed the two piece I beam arms for maximum flex side to side I decided to stay with the stock design. Probably over thinking it but what I read convinced me that increased side to side rigidity in the trailing arms isn’t desirable. Love the videos!
Do you still recommend the rust reformer and truck bed coating? I’m about to do my whole frame after I clean it up a bit. I saw in one of your newer videos you used the sweet patina product. I like the idea of the rattle cans but not opposed to brushing if you recommend the sweet patina more. Thank you.
I still like the rust reformer and truck bed coating. The sweet patina stuff was awesome too but I do enjoy spraying it. Which sweet patina does have a spray now. It just matters if you want it shiny or matte.
@@SIMPLE.C10 man I really appreciate what you do and also answering questions. You’re 100% the reason I’m not scared to tackle my 72 stepside with my daughter. One more question on the rust reformer, the label says to let it dry for 24 hours before applying a top coat. Do you wait the full 24 hours before applying the bed liner?
First of all thank you for all the videos. They really helped clarify several things. budget friendly mods and upgrades. I have a question about the trailing arm crossmember ( probably already answered) can I use the factory trailing arms. Thanks again. Keep those videos coming
The holes in the rear of the crossmember were the trailing arms go are those holes to give clearance in case you lower the rear with lowered springs or bags?
Great content and very helpful. I'm working on a 66 at the moment. I'm using Tinwork's trailering arms. I assume it's necessary to cut the Velaworks blocks down? Thank you!!!
Huge fan of your builds. Was thinking of copying your set up for my 63. My only worry is in the strength of the bolt in step notch and the giant 4 inch blocks. I plan on driving my truck quite often and I’m worried the blocks and notch won’t hold up.
The bolt in notch is a great design and works well. I’ve never worried about longevity of it same goes with the four inch blocks. You’re welding then into the trailing arms do they aren’t going anywhere as long as you have tightened the the ubolts correctly. If you’re worries about the bolt in notch then just use the Velaworks weld in notch. That’s my next video I’ll post before thanksgiving.
I find it absolutely ridiculous when you did your Safety speech.....lol Are you talking to a 5th grader shop class ? I didn't think so. You do some really nice work, just saying most couscous people are Safety oriented, you should be more Safety conscious when using spray paint , try using a paint mask next time ..... while we're on the Safety topic. 🏁
My boy breathing all that rust dust like a man. Hell yeah brother haha
Mask messes up my beard. Lol
Watching this now to see how to install mine brother. Thanks for what you do
I love doing it. Thanks for watching.

@@joesanders7567 I’m still connecting names from RUclips with instagram and Facebook lol
All good brother I can understand that man. Shes coming along though. I'll get you more pics later tonight after I get a few more things accomplished
Another great video
Thanks!!

Tinworks makes crossmembers for other years. Thanks for watching!!
I’m building a 67 c10 swb. I’ve been using CPP products and they seem pretty good. Love what your doing.
Thanks a lot!

Did order the trans mount and rear trailing arms crossmember told them about your videos
Awesome. Thanks for the shout out!
@simple.c10 your more than welcome!👍
Still waiting to receive order nearly $1000

Yes you can!
Great content 👌.
I have a 61 panel truck. Would this crossmember work with my X frame? Thanks in advance.
I don’t believe so. Those frames are so much different. It may though.
Do you have to use the trail arms with that cross member or can you still use the stock?
You can use stock.
The holes in the rear of the crossmember were the trailing arms go are those holes to give clearance in case you lower the rear with lowered springs or bags?
Those adjust pinion angle.

Yes. If you don’t cut them down you will run into scrub issues where the ubolts will drag the ground if you had a flat.
Its a same they don't make them for a c20 rear trailing arms
Gotcha

Thank you for the positive feedback! My wife tells me to wear a mask too lol.
Witch crossmember is that one? The one on their website is different
On the video I mention that I asked for the front section of their frame stiffener. You can contact them and do the same!
Taylor plans to add the new style to the website soon!
Thank you brother. I’m working on a 1970 c10 can I still use all the parts you mentioned on your videos for this truck?
@@JosePerez-nf1ly yes! Same frame until 72
