It's so fascinating. And I just love it. It just shows that Mike truly loves to create and to inspire others. God dammit. We don't deserve Mike Shinoda. ;^; I COULD LITERALLY sit in the studio for endless hours and just watch him work. It is truly so fascinating.
@@Tess1061 Well now, (2020), although you can't sit with him in the studio, you can watch him make beats for endless hours. I guess your wish came true anyways hahahaha. thou he's no longer using Waves and is using Maschine.
@@Duckquek17 Yeah - his twitch streaming has been a dream come true. I've been soaking it all up! It really reminds me of the days I would spend in my step dad's studio as a kid. Mike reminds me of him a lot. It's great fun to see him create music live. Brings back some fun and old memories of my childhood. And that aside, it's just cool as hell to see how Mike operates and what decisions he makes on the spot.
Most people will find this boring or uninteresting, but I can watch these kind of videos for hours. It’s so fascinating having a musical genius breaking down how he makes music and what goes on in the studio from his perspective. Favorite band of all time

Here as a student to the game. Crazy to think I’m at where they were 11 years ago in my journey now. Ironically purchased metaflanger two weeks ago. Guess I know some sounds
I literally came here because I saw Mike’s arms in the thumbnail and was like wtf is he wearing Chester’s shirt or something because hONESTLY THAT’S REALLY TIGHT MIKE.
i have a bundle but i have no idea what to use with what... i think there should be a place where ppl like me thats just starting out should knw what plugin should be used with what instrument or vocal etc.... if there is anyone know?
he uses Auto Tune as insurance-- just in case some one gets off-pitch by like a half-step or something-- both Chester and Mike dont use it live-- its just to make sure every little nuance in the vocals are in-key
@@Rusli1659LPSoldier Pro Tools is the Digital Audio Workstation, or DAW, that Mike is using in this video. That's the program all the sounds are put into.
I really don't like Waves plugins, they always felt really clunky to me and excessively processor intensive. I used to use them, but these days I've found much better alternatives. Some of which are the native plugins inside my DAW Cubase
@39smoothgreenday Nothing in this video even showed that they use autotune. The video only showed that the application they use assimilates autotune as one of their effects people can use; autotune was never selected in 2:18 like MetaFlanger is...
+Jason Mercieca its not exposed. Everyone whos ever done any kind of production or recording or mixing work knows that it's basically the first plugin on every vocal - at least during initial work on the track and might then be later replaced by something a bit "better" sounding i.e melodyne.... In fact if I remember correctly in the little booklet for Hybrid Theory it actually says "Linkin Park uses (...) Antares Autotune (...)"
I don't think they use it in a bad way tho, for example on this song Mike showed (The Catalyst) the vocals should sound affected. its not that neither of them can't sing, they just wanted that sound for vibes (or whatever you want to call it)
Amazing how Mike consistently shares the bands secrets with everyone. Pretty nifty stuff.

And yet nobody can replicate it
It's crazy thinking about how timeless their music is.
Mike is a literal Genius, anything Mike has ever worked on has always been a hit or has sounded amazing
Can we get a Mike Shinoda Masterclass?
The most similar thing are the twitch streams
mike is such a cool guy
You know what album was when you see Mike's hairstyle
Hahahahaha true 😂
RIP Chester

These are gems, I'm sitting here with MetaFlanger and MondoMod open and copying the settings, lol. The presets do sound great.
I like how they know their stuff. It's impressive that they're not some sellouts, picked up off the streets and told how to record their stuff.
he is a genius
I'm going to college for music, I'm still in high school and I understand most of what he's saying. YAY!
Hey there my friend you wrote this comment 7 years ago. I hope you achieved what you wanted in music

Mike, you are the best!
Did you know I don't know 100% of what the hell Mike is talking about?
Same
Nice work Mike :)
Miss you LP 💚
Anyone what song is that
Catalyst
@kedejackfrom He intelligently uses Auto-Tune. unlike many people who uses autotune as trend effect.

Wow. Great stuff here.
Why is all the waveform of the audio blown out?

"99.9% of commercially released music uses AutoTune" LOL Nope.
@El Gamerico, sorry but you have no idea how the music industry works.
