okay you're wrong in a couple of areas the Chuck key will break by over locking yes but it also sends pressure down the gear shaft that will make the shaft break or make the snap rings pop off gear or even shear the pin that holds the gear to the shaft also the fender gears the last ones that were made did not use any seals between the wafers they were most commonly on the gears that have the tang shaft
These were in Porkys too! I remember their 5000 switch illuminated switch box, looked like a trapper keeper!
