Hi Arlynn, 100% agree! The hour before landing in Anchorage I was glued to my window taking pictures. The guy next to me thought I was nutso 🤣.

So agree Arlynn. Our first Alaska cruise was in 2005, and it's my happiest of happy places! We went again in 2017, and that was our second and last Alaska cruise, and I miss it more than I can say. We are scheduled to go in 2023 but we may change it to 2024, due primarily to back issues (have had surgery and a few steroid injections and now going through diagnostic blocks to determine if the remaining pain is another issue - TMI but it's the primary reason I'm hesitant to go next year). I want to be able to walk and see more but standing and walking hurt more than sitting. : ( Thank you so much for all your videos - I love them! And we all love you .... "to bits to bits to bits." : )

Thanks for all your wonderful information. I have a few questions as this will be our first cruise ever and its for our 50th anniversary! How far in advance should we book, which side of ship for best views with a balcony and what camera do you recommend that isn't too expensive? Should we use a travel agent? Do you think September is a good month to cruise? Thanks for all you do.

Hi Virginia, I'm terribly sorry that I haven't seen your questions before now...ugh to me!!! Let me see if I can help you:
How far in advance should we book, which side of ship for best views with a balcony and what camera do you recommend that isn't too expensive?
~You should book asap, especially if you prefer a certain side and a certain area on the ship. We usually book mid-aft on the Dolphin Deck (deck 9) in a mini suite. I always prefer the Port side--not for any particular reason in Alaska as both sides on one of the Voyage of the Glaciers cruises will see as much as the other. Regarding a good camera, that is such a personal choice, and I honestly don't know of one that is available these days. All of our DSLR camera are several years old as are our zoom lens'. IF you are going to go to Alaska, I would highly recommend a nice camera to capture the beauty though.
Should we use a travel agent?
~Again, a personal choice, but, yes, if this is your first trip to Alaska, I highly recommend a TA who has literally sailed on an Alaska cruise. There are many moving parts and one can really get bogged down in the details without some help.
Do you think September is a good month to cruise?
~I have cruised in all months of the Alaska cruising season, I honestly don't think that there is a bad month in which to cruise the Great Land (I'll be going in September this year myself).

Thank you for your detail information. May I pls ask when you say sit on the right hand side, would that be the driver side or opposite to driver side. many thanks 😊

Hi Sarah, are you asking about the White Pass and Yukon Railroad train excursion? If so, when I say sit on the right side I mean the right side of the train as the train is facing forward. On the way up the mountain, sit on the left for the best viewing and on the way down sit on the right. :)

@@sarahbrown7055 OHHHH okay Sarah. Well it depends on what you are most excited to see. On the journey to Whittier from Anchorage, the right hand side of the bus -- meaning the right as the bus is moving forward (the passengers side in the US) will have an awesome view of the Chugach Mountain range and the Turnagain Arm...stunning, stunning views. BUT, after you exit the Anton Anderson tunnel and enter Whittier, your cruise ship will be sitting off to the left, so if you want to see that, then sit on the left hand side of the bus as the bus is facing forward.
