Some of the many great activities for visitors to Skagway and its surrounding area to partake in include walking around the city’s downtown area, riding the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway, visiting the Red Onion Saloon, and hiking the Chilkoot Trail. Much of Skagway’s downtown area has been designated a national historic park, which means that there are many finely preserved historical buildings to see. The White Pass & Yukon Route Railway, meanwhile, offers what is considered to be one of the greatest train trips around.
The Red Onion Saloon was once a functioning brothel during the Klondike Gold Rush. Nowadays, it’s a nice little restaurant and bar, though there’s a museum upstairs paying tribute to the building’s former use. Finally, the Chilkoot Trail is 33 miles long and lined with awesome scenery and some more historical remnants from the Klondike Gold Rush. From checking out the Gold Rush-era historical buildings downtown to going for a hike on the Chilkoot Trail, join ViewCation to find the best things to do in Skagway, Alaska.

I made a video to share with all the tourists that have spent 1 day or are going to spend 1 day in Skagway. ruclips.net/video/MGFId71pXzM/видео.html I’m sure you discovered one day is not enough to really understand Skagway’s rich history and all things to see or do. When I created this video about Skagway I realized I only experienced tiny fraction of its unique history and all the fun/free things to do.

This video is created by someone who spent a day in Skagway and wanted to give everyone a deeper understanding of Skagway’s rich history. Took me about month to create. I was in Skagway just getting to it from our ship did me in , I have a bad heart and that’s a long walk , for the elderly, otherwise we loved seeing the town with its Russian architecture and Shops, we didn’t get a chance to ride the train, we if I ever get the chance to visit again, I would figure out transportation into town and I would definitely take the train trip 👍🙋🏼‍♀️

We are planning to go soon to Skagway. It looks so beautiful! I’ve heard really good things about The Big Nugget Tour with the Moonshine Monty tour guide. I can’t wait! I love this kind of stuff.

    Train ride is excellent
The actual Yukon Trail is visible for about a 1/2 mile of the ride.
The town is not that interesting.
