yeah he definitely tries to stretch the story to come to a conclusion that is shocking/will get a reaction from his viewers
Isn't this concept well known, where if you achieve everything you wanted and have nothing else to do you become empty? Humans are meant to do some form of work to keep themselves occupied so they aren't bored to death. This gives meaning and reason to keep living.

I tried defending Notch in a random Twitter convo once and he actually replied insisting it was all his fault. You can tell he regrets saying what he said and it feels wrong to erase him from his work because of it.
Its almost as if people can grow and mature and yet there are still people that to this day despise Notch 6 years later.

It's true for people of average to even above average net worth. But if you have say like $200 million even or more, let alone a billion, I challenge you to find a house that is $100 million. Not even Bill Gates's house is worth that much. I want to say his house was the most expensive house in the world at some point and it was like $55 million or so but that's on the high end. Most people who live in like Beverly Hills and places like that, their mansions on the high end are like $30-40 million but generally speaking an expensive mansion in the richest areas to live in the world is about $8-12 million. If you have billions of dollars you can literally buy those types of mansions over and over again hundreds if not thousands of times.
I just Googled it and at the time Notch bought the most expensive house in Beverly Hills at $70 million. That's the most expensive one in Beverly Hills. That didn't even put a dent in his wallet.

@@NienNienNien Like the game, but in the browser. If I remember right it used Java back then. Still got some of the indev videos uploaded. I was one of the first people to buy it. In the beginning it had literally nothing but a world of 50x50 blocks or something and terrain generation that was just dirt pillars. Pre-alpha was wild.

Not going to lie in lockdown I got so bored from playing only video games like it was a dream for me to play games day and night but in reality, it was super boring and I wanted to go outside which is a thing that I didn't do in normal days
After lockdown, I start going to the gym and every weekend I try to go to some historical places in my country read a book, and realize how empty my life was just sitting on my ass playing games
(I'm not saying playing games are something bad no there are multiple games that are better than most of the movies/books these days such as RDR2, Witcher 3, Half-life, etc.)

It always makes me chuckle how upset people get at the benign statement : " It's okay to be white"
The thing about Notch is, he got too successful too fast, he never was humbled in the real world and never really needed to feel an immense brick wall opposing him. It's not to say that he never struggled ever, but his endeavors were fruitful and very well accepted by all, not bcz of him but bcz people already wanted a game like Minecraft at the time, the game didn't hold your hand, didn't care if you got blown up or get scared by spooky sounds and endermen, it was just numbers on a screen and you played however you wanted to play, it was freedom and a sense of escapism many would love.
Notch selling it for that amount was a good deal, he wasn't as invested on the game as his team was, nor his fans were, nor even Microsoft. I personally don't think he would have gotten a better deal than that, but the problem now is that he doesn't do anything with the money, he's in a standstill of feeling as if a victim and getting outraged on other people's behalf, his ego is too inflated that he thinks everyone he's going to meet would always be after his "fame" or wealth now. It's also seen that he attach his ego to Minecraft, branding personal dates where it was definitely unnecessary and kinda creepy, but nothing of the same investment from any sort of meaningful work for its community.
His quick success may have killed his drive, his haters may have caused him to ditch Minecraft, he may have been just losing his flame and doesn't know how to reignite it, but his worst decision yet is doing nothing and thinks everyone should be entertaining him instead. He probably should just go offline, and just start giving back to the community and start finding himself again, twitter will only push him further to insanity. He doesn't need to part with his wealth, just organize random fairs and start enjoying random real people's company rather than feeling like he's a victim, the dude is a billionaire but has zero ideas.

You cant JUST make a good game, im learning programming, and working on a new whole idea of a game, SUCKS, its very hard to predict what most people want to see in your game and you also have to remember not to repeat same ideas as in last games. Making videogames is hard due to newer and newer hardware being introduced to each game, you must learn, adapt and make.

Not even joking, everything I just listed there is accurate to my friend's situation. He has a $20000 gaming PC, has a Telsa Model X on order, is going to inherit a mansion, and will eventually get the company credit card for his own use. He may even inherit the company entirely.
But here's the thing, he has no need to go to school, no need to work, no need for anything. All he wants to do is game and watch anime all day every day. All he does is LITERALLY watch his reflection in his G9 Odyssey and wait for me and my other friends with jobs to come home and game with him.
Oh also, on top of owning an entire company, he wants to work at Tesla (He's a Tesla fanboy of course) and make sentient robots, emotions, super strength and all. What could possibly go wrong?

The ONLY thing you're paying for in tertiary education is the diploma, which is required for a lot of high-pay jobs. Clearly you don't need this type of education because many billionaires have done extraordinary things without it, but for most of us, we aren't ambitious enough to do that, so we take the college or university route to allow us a higher pay in whatever job we want.
Personally, I'm going to college. I don't have to to get to where I want to be, but I feel that I need to be learned before entering my field. Also, they like to see that you took the college program. It makes it a little easier.

I think his problem was that he lost what kept him motivated and occupied for money and then didnt do shit with it.
