A log doesn't really reveal it's beauty until ya get inside of it. Much like people really. It may appear one way but once ya get inside of it... The beauty is revealed!

In my humble opinion it's a "Dead Oak" with a few powder post beetles on the outside edge. The British call any oak that shows a brown colour due to aging " Brown Oak" The pock marks are they from insect or bruseing , interesting pruning jobs done 30 years ago and grow overs.

I don't know, but I'm guessing it's black oak which looks almost identical to red oak. I can only tell the difference between them by their leaves.
    Thanks for the video.

It is Willow oak I think ,on a living tree the bark looks like post oak, which I don't cut for wood cause post oak makes a cold fire, but willow oak makes good firewood it does have a lot of sap wood most oaks has very little sap wood and it has lots of limbs down low just like that tree has they split fairly easy, the knots are troublesome if you use a ax or splitting maul even a wedge is needed on some pieces, enjoy

Another great video guys. Over Easter weekend I flew from Chattanooga to Dallas (and back) to visit relatives; I imagine the flight path was overhead of your place since you've always got planes buzzing around...lol. Tried to see if I could spot your sawmill from 35,000 feet up, but no luck. Would you consider adding links to the music you use in your videos? I love the intro song and the other song you used in this upload is nice, too. Take care and be safe...

being the son of a timber management icon from the 40,50,60's, managed 480,000 acres, i believe it is a "water oak", i know its local term...it grew next to a water source, did not get very tall...and that one is a couple hundred years old, just saying...and yes that thing is very nice...would make some awesome flooring...

My guess would be red oak. I know there are differences in oak species in the south vs in the north, where I am, due to average temperatures, growing environment, and etc. Nice sawing and good video👍

I thought it was walnut but it was oak you say. How about all the bug holes they don't bug you, they're still in the wood or did you spray it with something to kill them? Or are you going to
put it all in a wood kiln to kill them ? When I mill I try to avoid buggy wood, unless I'm cutting for someone else and they bring me buggy wood then I cannot do anything about it..
    great video you too. 👍🏻
