I think Rick Rubin gave more of a damn about Johnny Cash than Nashvile did in the 1990's and I am sure teeangers and 20 somethin's that listen to Red Chili Peppers, Slayer, Nirvana, and Weezer like Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. Wanna bet?
Thanks to Rick Rubin for his insight into what Johnny cash still had to offer. I am a long time fan of Johnny cash and I am now a fan of Rick Rubin and thanks to Rick Rubin. I miss you Johnny but your music will go on for ever. The great Johnny cash will never die.
I'm 26 and I am happy to say I've been a Cash fan for about 13 years now, thanks to my dad. He used to play an old Johnny Cash Greatest Hits album which I really liked but it was hearing the work he did with Rick Rubin that really made me a fan for life especially American Recordings. The Man In Black & his guitar. I don't think you can beat that. That's just amazing music.
and gen Y, i am 25 and when i was 17 i moved from england to texas for a year. Was lonely being so far from home but Johnny cash and the lovely people of Texas really grew on me. i'll forever have respect and love for the south, and for Johnny cash.
Mr.. Johnny Cash= integrity forever. The Kris Kristofferson thumbs up is priceless. I had the privilege of hanging around with Kris around the coffee houses of the Prince Arthur McGill ghetto. Another Prince of truth in country music. Thanks for the fantastic memories Kris.
"It's all him..all of his paradoxes" that's an amazing summery from his daughter. Cash was a paradox and wasn't controllable any more because he didn't need Nashville anymore. Their loss was our gain.
Kenny Rogers said it best when Cash was inducted into the CMHOF Johnny Cash was, is and always will be Country Music he did what he did to let all of Nashville know he still the Orginal King of Nashville
a Song was written years ago . and the Country Music Mifia put the word out that anyone recorded the Song would be black Balled from country Music ..years later a number of Singers Recorded this Song Murder on music Row .. I graduated high school in 92 and liked all of the above at the time and still do. I hated mainstream country though

he stood for what he believed in, he was a badass and turned out country music couldn't handle it! best there was
What they could not handle is people not buying his records.
Country music lost it's roots.Johnny Cash was the real deal.He was the root.

Johnny Cash is one of the reasons I hated country music as a kid.

I LOVE JOHNNY CASH!
It's awesome that Glenn Danzig wrote "Thirteen" for him as well. Basically an Impression to who he was.

Historical murder ballads? Is that what you call misogyny and singing about violence against women?
