  • Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party has selected its new leader, who is also set to become the country's next prime minister. The former defense minister Shigeru Ishiba will replace current leader, Fumio Kishida, who suffered a series of financial and political scandals. Ishiba has pushed for a boost in military spending and has also called for the creation of an Asian version of NATO. The former defense minister argues that Japan's military should be able to respond firmly if territorial airspace or waters are breached.

Well, Article 9th doesn't say anything about building Gundam and since he is a military otaku, I believe he will initiate the project secretly.

Revising Article 9 would quickly get shot down in Japan's diet. The CDP will turn the country upside down again and take to the streets.
Ironically it's true. He will just remilitarize Japan in secret like what past administration has done and just use semantics like how they built a "helicopter carrier" that could also be repurposed into an actual aircraft carrier for F35 jets 😅

Taiwan's own constitution states that Taiwan is a part of China. Taiwan's official name is Republic of China.
Taiwan's own constitution calls for the Reunification of the Island of Taiwan with Mainland China... Up until 1991 Taiwan was raising a military to invade and conquer the Mainland.
The government of Taiwan represented the whole of China in the security council up until 1972.
The Republic of China and the People's Republic of China are both a part of China and belong to the Chinese people.
If there are people living in the Republic of China who don't want to be a part of China they can freely pack up all their stuff and immigrate to another Country... They
Can go to Japan, renouce their Chinese names, their Chinese ancestors, and culture and become Japanese.
      Nobody is stopping them.
But the Island of Taiwan aka Republic of China belongs to the Chinese people.
When Germany was divided between East and West Germany China fully supported German reunification.
Now this German News network is rooting for China to remain divided and partitioned indefinitely like the Koreans with one half occupied by the United States living as an American tributary vassal state in perpetuity.
Chinese people will not have any of it. They want their country reunited and they want anyone else to butt out of their internal affairs.

defunct because China flipped towards the US after the sino-soviet split. particularly Nixon and Mao have a relatively better relations compare to Nixon's predessors. Both of them despise the USSR after the split. So SEATO kinda lost its purpose.

The British India Company grew opium in India, exported the opium to China to get the Chinese hooked on the drugs. What followed was the Infamous Opium War of 1897 in which the Western countries in Europe led by England gave the Opposing Chinese forces a licking in the infamous Opium War in the Battle of Nanking. The Chinese were defeated and had to accede the Island of Hong Kong to UK for 100 years until 1997 when Hong Kong was returned to China. China never forgets that humiliation.

This alliance is likely to fail as East Asia are extremely divided and separated, every country in East Asia tends to hate each other for either land dispute, historical reason, or political reason. I don’t think this alliance will come to effect, it will likely to be an alliance to be forgotten in the future because it’s completely useless. South Korea will not join it because of the land dispute in Dokdo Island, joining it would literally mean Korea will need to admit Dokdo is part of Japanese territory. I don’t think Taiwan will likely join either because of its land dispute with Japan and China. Unless China invade Taiwan the alliance could come to effect, but for now, it is a completely useless alliance

Because western countries would not care about Asia. NATO countries have former Soviet countries and many others in between Asian threat which are China and N Korea. So China and N Korea are not direct threat to NATO. Asians wouldn’t want western countries to make us use our military in case of European crisis either and our main threat is China and North Korea. So, it’s natural to develop allies separately.
