    I'm very excited for this ship just as a main base for both myself and others when they come online. It has a lot of versatility and is going to be really fun to be able to load up whatever you want inside and practically do what ever content you want. I love the idea of being able to load up a prospector with extra bags in the hold or vulture (maybe????) and have a mobile storage point for your industrial needs. Or just do a quick swap for a fighter and now you have something else for your crew to do if they dont want to sit in a turret.
    My only concern is the missile turret in the back. It seems like the ammo count is super low especially if we cant reload missiles by ourselves. Just seems like a waste of turret space for potentially another quad size 3 turret.

    You're getting a lot of solo Polaris hate, but CIG knows some people want to operate larer ships solo (I want this too). I have no doubt NPC crew/server blades will compensate for lack of human crew. CIG is big on immersion and people forget NPCs can be programmed to do a lot more than just man turrets and shoot things. The Polaris is cool as hell, I'm excited for you, and cant wait to hear more about your experience when it gets in game.

      I think a part of it will be this, one we don’t have exact concrete information on the limitations of NPC crews. 2 given that this is a multiplayer game and devs will probably want to encourage players to crew these ships NPC crews will probably be dogshit compared to half decent player crews so in active combat NPC crewed ships will probably get fucked but if you’re more into PVE gameplay NPC should suffice.

      @@undeadpeak I agree that they wouldn't be as good as a well coordinated human crew. I think it would be fair to tune them to be about the same as the average player, perhaps slightly below average. Humans will always have an advantage anyway: we can think ahead and proactively deal with problems rather than be reactionary like AI would tend to be. I believe they'll be able to tune this well, while maintaining the human advantage.

      I’d consider if nothing else a C8X/R, Titan, or Cutter. Forget the solo argument for a moment, you could have 15-20 people ready to go day one but you won’t have a contract that will pay the expenses of running that ship around the verse. On Erkul, you can turn off all turrets and turn each on separately to see the individual DPS. That's important because not all turrets will be used on an enemy or can target one. Which means you won't be using the 11k DPS to individual turrets. So you'll need to know where it's weakest sides are both for defense and offense.

  • @nistramai

    In all this solo rahrah, people seem to be neglecting two very important points. One, the server strain each Polaris will have, especially on launch when we all take ours out individually to see it. However, it does cost 750 so it would be reasonable for a solo-is-possible-in-a-highly-limited-way-with-immense-prep-and-funds to be accommodated.
    Server meshing is not an all powerful crutch, but neither can CIG ignore just how much they have sold ships like this. I fear we will all suffer funding premiums later down the line, hopefully they can optimize a solo'd large/capitol server/client side rendering cost. I feel this is why they are milking us so hard right now, cause this will be quite the expensive game to run, and subscription model or whatnot else will catch up quick...
    P.S. I cant wait for the day the Polaris launches. The server lag and drama will be unforgettable. Everyone fighting over dock space, people not giving a shit, probably F12 while exploring their Polaris while in dock not taking off while everyone is yellling at them. Global will be NUTS I tell you.

      Yea so, while you might have a few points here, arguing over ports might not be one of them. Unless you purposely run to a space station "keep in mind that you'll start in a city" that's on you. In cities, we'll have private hangars by then. That means everyone can be in a hangar all at the same time if they want. With no waits. As for space stations, I'd simply remedy it by parking it close to the station and taking a smaller ship out to a pad. Nobody with common sense will stay at a station holding up a port just so they can tour their ship anyway.....That's asking to be hit by a player who said f*ck it.

    Also a Polaris owner, I believe if we do have 432 SCu you will be able to haul cargo short distances in the safety of monitored space in between combat expeditions to cover the operating costs of running this. And regarding engineering, if you just want to haul cargo short distances solo, a basic pre-flight check of components for short travel distances in monitored space will suffice, the ship won't just degrade and implode because you flew from Seraphim station to Baijini point.

    I think the Carrack and the Liberator will be as big as one can manage . Even those will be in the sense of being able to do different activities at a whim while bringing your different ships along, not like say combat.
    I think alot of people will end up melting this really large ships because nobody is going want to crew them outside of org play for the most part.

    This is not a ship for solo players, You may be able to fly it solo but You need crew to man the turrets and to operate stations. Its a ship for groups and orgas.

    I can't wait to go roc mining with this thing. I'd run mine solo and just have it as a base of operations. Very likely scout global chat for those looking to crew up every now and then. Clearly I can't make any serious money or partake in battles without a crew, just good times pretending to be a lone warrior astronaut.

    the S9 Torps are only placeholder till the S10s come in, i heard a leak mention that the S10 torps will do around 700k dmg per torp

    • @MyN0N4M3
      @MyN0N4M3 5 месяцев назад

      They will probably cost the same amount in UEC.
      Torpedos are entirely useless for almost any mission, as they eat rapidly through your profits.
      There are no missions in this game currently that justify using S10 torps, unless you backspace and claim your ship to avoid paying maybe, but it probably comes with a hefty insurance timer.

    • @TheRealHIPER

      @@MyN0N4M3 maybe an ERT idris, but anyways I doubt you'd need the torps in such a situation, since the polaris is getting up gunned it will be able to take down an idris with just it's guns, the torps is more of an emergency use kinda thing, that or pvp use (I think the idris will be out by the time the polaris comes out)

    Everyone is talking about capital ships being unsoloable, what about the defacto large solo ship, the 600i? how difficult will it be when engineering is a factor? because i was hoping i'd be able to run it as my home away from home.

    • @ZyvhurStudios
      @ZyvhurStudios  5 месяцев назад +1

      I think people are too worried about engineering if you get attacked it will only add survivability if you have a crew, but for solo pilots you will always just have to run away

    • @Auldus
      @Auldus 5 месяцев назад

      @ZyvhurStudios a fair assessment. I know the risks of Soloing and understand that ships can be simply too large. But I do feel like the 600i is an outlier. All of it's components are localized and accessible(pre rework) and it's turrets are remote cotrolled from the bridge. 3 size 5 M7As under pilot control and 2 size 3 shields. The 600i can meaningfully hang in combat with heavy hitters and is one itself. Given you have a good pilot that understands the 600i's weaknesses and uses it's wicked range advantage to snipe midsize ships while putting shield power in front. I've survived some wild pvp encounters and taken down a fully crewed redeemer. When components are implemented and the hull HP system is gone I think the 600i will be even tougher.

    • @ZyvhurStudios

      I agree the 600i x is a truly exciting proposition for solo players

    As a primarily solo player who doesn't run around with a group due to time limitations and not being able to stay in game to support a group action etc.. I no longer have any interest in any ship with more than one seat.. Engineering etc is going to make it too much hard work.

    Going to be real hard to run this ship as a solo pilot, especially in any fleet engagements. I would think that the idea that you can solo it is a bit of a pipe dream, the ship is designed to spear head a fleet of ships and act as a flagship/command vessel. There may be NPCs in the future that you can have c0-pilot, man turrets, and perform engineering.. but it is unlikely they will ever perform at the level of an actual live crew... Find a good org man, this really is not a game for solo pilots, especially ones that want to fly capital ships...

  • @daganael

    I seriously doubt you can run a polaris solo... beside running cost and engeneering, the torpedoes alone need a dedicated operator.
    I believe the pilot has just no weapon on this ship. not even mentionning it's going to be a very slow one, so no winning by overflying anyone. as a solo player you just gonna be a very nice target for eclipses and ares or any crewed capitals ships.

    Torpedoes need dedicated players on this ship. I don't even talk about the cost to run it... This ship is not made to make money, but to consume it. This is a warship to go in battle against other organization. Also, under-crewing a military ship is already not a good idea, but this one is probably the less "solo friendly" ship of the entire game.
    What you will do when a component will fail in combat ? When a fire start at the rear ? and when a boarding action will occure ?
    Forget it.

    • @ZyvhurStudios
      @ZyvhurStudios  5 месяцев назад

      I think people are over reacting a bit about engineering, (as someone who has been testing it with only one other friend) imo it will add survivability if you have a crew but a solo player with no pilot controlled Guns will always have to runaway, engineering doesn't really change that

    • @Wayne72LEVRAI
      @Wayne72LEVRAI 5 месяцев назад

      @@ZyvhurStudios I understand your point of view but i think otherwise, specially in combat situation when you will not be allowed to flee.
      Do you have tested the reclaimer as solo player ? Actually this industrial ship can be solo, but even if the salvage seat are close to the pilot one, this is already painfull, after few run it become boring to do everything solo. I prefer returning on a Vulture even if this is less efficient.
      So imagine on a ship like the Polaris ? This will be a pain in the a*s.
      Try to undercrew a redeemer or a hammerhead, you will quickly understand how this idea is bad.
      Now, if you absolutely want it, then take it. This is your money and you have no argument to provide other than: i want it.

      You should be able to use torpedoes only the rest are turrets so require players. You do get a lot of torpedoe, but they only travel at 250m/s, so most ships can just outrun them at scm speed so only really viable against larger slower ships it will wreck hull C's haha

    • @chillylytical9410
      @chillylytical9410 5 месяцев назад

      Nah, they said that the torpedos need another player in that room to properly make use of. You could proably lock on to a target but that data must be relayed to the torpedo by another player, then that player will then allow the torpedo to be loaded into the tube so that you in return can finally shoot it.

    • @Wayne72LEVRAI
      @Wayne72LEVRAI 5 месяцев назад

      As said above, to reload and fire torpedoes you need others players on this ship.
