  • I've been stewing over this for a while.I have some more path to adjust on the plot and that is definitely on my agenda today. I also have a plan to move some Purple Sprouting Broccoli plants so that I cam make progress with my plans to give up some of my allotment space. First things first though , I need to gather the ingredients for one of my favourite seasonal meals which is corned beef stew. I show you the basic ingredients and also suggest a few amendments that can be made with this simple stew. If anyone is interested all you have to do is chop all the ingredients plus an onion into a size that suits you and boil everything together until soft.The water you boils the vegetables in makes up the liquid in the stew so don't pour it away.Once everything is soft and to your taste just cube the corned beef from one can and simmer for another ten minutes,then season with salt pepper and herbs to taste…..Hey presto ....corned beef stew.
    UK Allotments are the ideal place to learn how to grow fruit and vegetables. My allotment is a no dig allotment and I share how to grow vegetables and how to prepare a no dig garden. If you are growing in a backyard garden or homestead and you want some tips on how to grow vegetables I hope my channel has something to offer. Allotment ideas are always worth sharing and I am happy to share my gardening ideas and failures so that we can all learn to grow vegetables together. I also learn on the allotment nearly every time I am there and learning how to grow in a Polytunnel or greenhouse can be a fun an exciting experience too. If you are one of the many allotment beginners or thousands of people growing in your garden for the first time then join me growing on Allotments For Fun and food and get some allotment ideas

    Very productive gardens and I must say 10/10 including your house keeping honestly some gardener's struggle to produce quality food because of crap piles everywhere just my opinion I believe cleanliness is just as important as sowing or even transplanting pruning ex. Great job love your work .

    I know I'm chiming in much too late, but it's sad to see you tossing out the leeks with seed stalks. The seed stalks are delicious! Personally I like them better than garlic scapes.

    Hi Malcolm have you manured the parsnip ground. If you have that would be why your parsnips are forking they don't like manure. Same with carrots.

    Lovely looking veg and those carrots are perfect! How will you harden off and store your pumpkins? Mine are still mostly green...can I harvest them as the plants are looking quite spent now and ripen them off the plant? I really enjoy watching your videos and learn so much, thanks Malcolm

    • @MalcolmKingswell
      @MalcolmKingswell  Год назад +1

      Hi Simon, you can lay them out on the plot for a few weeks to finish ripening, just avoid the frost, them bring them in to a cool dry place.....hope that helps Malc

    Good-day Malc!👋 Beautiful produce! Y'all are having a lovely banner year in the garden.👍
    You are going to have a ton of purple sprouting broccoli.😋
    I don't like the cold so I put up kale in the freezer for the winter...to add to stew, soups, casseroles, quiche, etc.
    I also put up chard.🙂
    Thanks for the tour of your pumpkins...they are looking yummy! I'm with y'all on the pumpkin pie.😄
    Continued good time!👍

    What a feast of veg, that stew is going to taste wonderful. I am not a fan of corned beef so it would have been some nice chicken thighs or shin of beef slow cooked with those beautiful veggie. I am inspired to grow swede next year now 😊 Have a good week.
