      I’m actually going to direct you to a specific video I did about getting El Capitan just last year. Your part will be more in the second half of the video, just follow the timestamps.

    Would this work on an unsupported Mac mini 2012, is it kind of like open core Legacy patcher

    • @EasyOSX
      @EasyOSX  8 месяцев назад

      You can use this to make an installer, even on an unsupported Mac. It depends more on the version of Mac OS you're running and the one you're making a boot disk on. However it won't let you upgrade a Mac to an unsupported version of Mac OS on it's own, only as far as it will officially go either via direct upgrade or complete wipe and reload. If you want to get the Mac to a modern version of Mac OS that Apple doesn't officially support it with then you'll need to use something like OCLP

    I'm afraid to say that none of these methods worked… Terminal says "command not found" and Install Disk Creator just doesn't start loading. I tried everything, what can I do? Am I missing something?

      What installer were you trying to use when the Terminal command said it failed? Also what version of Mac OS are you currently running?

    Okay so I copied and pasted the l Captain thing and pasted it in the terminal but it still won't work

      Did you rename the part of the command to use the name of your flash drive?

    I used the terminal way with a flashdrive for a mba 2011 to install El Capitan. The command worked fine, took about 30min to copy everything. Beforehand I erased the flashdrive disk (16GB). After rebooting and selecting the 'Install OSX El Capitan' disk to install, it tells me there's not enough space on 'Install OSX El Capitan'. Help? 🙏

      @EasyOSX  5 месяцев назад

      Sounds like the issue may not be the flash drive but the drive you're trying to install El Capitan to. Assuming you're installing this to a Mac's internal hard drive, you'll need to either use the Disk Utility to erase the entire drive and install El-Cap, or you need to boot into the Mac normally and see about clearing out some space like deleting old apps, caches, docs and pics, etc.

      Thanks so much for your quick reply! I'm restarting without the flashdrive, looking to free up space. How much free space would you say I'll need? I thought around 7GB would be enough?

    • @EasyOSX
      @EasyOSX  5 месяцев назад +1

      According to Apple you need at least 8.8 GB of free space to install 10.11, though for good measure you probably want to bump that up to 10-12 GB free.. Keep in mind it has to put the installer on the computer, unpack it, and then run everything. You'll get most of that space back once it's done, but it needs enough space to actually do its work while it's on the machine.

      @@EasyOSX I'm back :( Thanks for your help so far! So I got the notification that a GUID partition hasn't been set up. Went back to erase flashdrive, add GUID partition, started the terminal command again, waited for data to be copied onto flashdrive, started install process from there, device restarted, asked me to select a disk to install el capitan on: told me flashdrive has 8.84GB available (of around 15.8, only data on their is install data el cap), and internal mac disk has around 78 GB available. No idea where to go from here..

    • @EasyOSX

      You should click on the Internal drive and follow the prompts to install El-Cap onto that drive, which will install it for that machine

    Hey! Just tried this and it told me that the OS could not be opened because the developer cannot be verified, "MacOs cannot verify that this app is free from malware" Anyone have this issue and know how to fix it?

      You might try right clicking the installer and hitting “Open” that was to launch it first. When it launches it will probably ask if you’re sure you want to open it because it can’t verify the source. Say yes. After it tells you whether it can can run on your system (even if this isn’t the system to run it on) you can close the installer and try running the app or Terminal commands again

      I had issues trying to make the USB installer using option 1, then I tried option 2 but finally option 1 worked for me. Copy and paste did the job.
