Oh my gosh i never realized how accurate the anxiety attacks are in this movie, i had them for nearly a month straight they are easily the worst things ever. The only thing that really helped them was to make myself think creatively. I also have adhd so i had to find something that just made me focus on that and make me continue in curious thinking, of what if. This movie really portrays it perfectly.

Fun fact in the 2nd post credit scene you missed, you see them all sitting quietly eating shawarma in a practically destroyed restaurant, with the owners in the background cleaning up as they eat. Everyone is eating or drinking except for Steve. He's just sitting there leaning his head on his closed fist. This is because when they called them back for pickups and filmed that scene, Chris Evans had a full-grown beard for his next roll.

I feel like the Iron Man sequels are a bit underrated sure they aren't great but they do have great stuff in it with Sam Rockwell's Justin Hammer in my opinion being the best part of Iron Man 2 while 3 does have problems but without it we wouldn't be getting Trevor Slattery as a character. In general outside of Captain Anerica Winter Soilder and Guardians OF The Galaxy I feel like around 75% of Phase 2 films are underrated

love the marvel content , the thing with the arc reactor is from the the first film about stopping the shrapnel from entering his heart and at the end of this film the shrapnel get removed so technically doesnt need one in him anymore , and could just build it into the suit instead

Hey, Kev and Lewis! The fanbase was sharply divided over this Iron Man installment for two major deviations from the comics: the Mandarin and AIM. Ben Kingsley was admittedly hilarious as Trevor and the revelation that he's merely a paper tiger facade for Killian was completely unexpected. However, the Mandarin is Tony's nemesis and one of Marvel's great villains. When he was reduced to a laughingstock, it frustrated all the expectations the trailers had built up for a live-action showdown between these major opponents. The other disappointment was that AIM was reduced to a corporation run by Killian when it's supposed to be a major terrorist organization comparable to Hydra but comprised of rogue scientists! The movie also uses PTSD as a substitute for Tony's notorious alcoholism but this deviation still helps to ground the character and humanize him for audiences nevertheless. The plot is adapted from the "Extremis" storyline written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Adi Granov which propelled the character into the 21st-century.
The Mandarin is a top-tier Marvel villain who deserves a special note. He was created by Stan Lee in 1964 debuting in issue # 50 of the title that was running Iron Man's adventures at the time called "Tales of Suspense". He goes by many aliases such as Eugene Khan, Zhang Tong and Tem Borijgin but none know his real name. He is the bi-racial product of an aristocratic Chinese family from pre-Communist China who claim descent from Genghis Khan. Orphaned at an early age, he was raised by a bitter dowager aunt whose hate for the Communist regime was exceeded only by her hate for the West! A boy prodigy, she spent every last bit of his fortune training him in science, history and combat until they could no longer pay taxes and were evicted by the government from his ancestral estate. Now a proud young man with a grudge against the world, he explored a hidden valley none dare enter and makes a remarkable find: a spaceship with the corpse of a dragon-like pilot from a world called Maklu IV. This find explains the motif of intelligent dragons in Chinese folklore. He spends years mastering the technology which confers upon him longevity and the ten control rings that power the ship. Each ring has a specific function and can be wielded independent of the ship as weapons. He easily seizes the area around the valley which draws in the government whom he intimidates into a detente where they agree to shelter him and turn a blind eye to his machinations so long as he doesn't molest China. He moves his center of operations to the Gobi desert and begins his plans for world conquest. More recently, he has modernized his outfit into a legitimate corporation to advance his nefarious agenda. Perceived as a culturally insensitive "yellow peril" stereotype in collusion with the Chinese government, a true rendering of the character would have prevented distribution of "Iron Man 3" in the lucrative Asian market so the Ten Rings became a logo and the Mandarin himself became a joke. Feige attempted to correct this egregious misrepresentation in the One-Shot "All Hail the King" and the movie "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" but still came up short.
Shane Black, who directed RDJ in the excellent neo-noir "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang", handles this entry as if it were more of a techno-thriller than a clash of armored titans like the last two. It's a smart move and a faithful translation of the source material which has Tony out of his armor for most of the film! The relationship with young Harley is amusing and affecting presaging his mentorship of Peter Parker. The destruction of the Malibu mansion and the human chain skydive rescue are thrilling highlights!
The cast, as always, is excellent headed by Robert Downey, Jr. playing Tony Stark aka Iron Man for the fifth time now accompanied by his regular stable of Don Cheadle as Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes rebranded as Iron Patriot, Gwyneth Paltrow as Virginia 'Pepper' Potts, Jon Favreau as Harold 'Happy' Hogan and Paul Bettany as JARVIS. Paltrow, in particular, gets to perform some amazing action both in and out of some armor! Ty Simpkins as the young Harley Keener, in whose cluttered garage runaway Tony flops, is excellent as an unwitting, pint-sized therapist. Shaun Toub returns for a Yinsen cameo set in 1999. Guy Pearce plays a lean and hungry Aldrich Killian nursing a hateful grudge with a perpetual sneer and running two evil organizations: his company, Advanced Idea Mechanics, which fronts for a mock Ten Rings terrorist cell. Ben Kingsley does a menacing job as the Mandarin and delivers a brilliant comedic turn as sleazy Trevor Slattery. The lovely Rebecca Hall is appropriately tragic as the spurned Maya Hansen. James Badge Dale is savage as the lead Extremis operative Savin. Stephanie Szostak, as another Extremis goon named Brandt, has a vicious throwdown with Tony. William Sadler plays President Ellis, a role he reprises in "Agents of SHIELD", and Miguel Ferrer plays treacherous Vice President Rodriguez. Character actors Spencer Garrett and Dale Dickey have bit parts as a Tennessee sheriff and barfly, respectively.
    TRIVIA:
    1. Shane Black sets every movie he directs at Christmastime and "Iron Man 3" is no different.
    EASTER EGGS:
    1. The dragon tattoos on Killian's chest are of the Makluan dragon and Iron Man antagonist Fin Fang Foom!
    2. The red, white and blue armor and Iron Patriot moniker are references to when Spidey villain Norman Osborn wore the suit in command of the Dark Avengers!
    3. The company the accountant hostage worked for, Roxxon, is the Marvel Comics equivalent of Exxon, a multinational petrochemical juggernaut!
    CAMEO:
    1. Stan Lee appears as a gleefully generous judge of the beauty pageant issuing a score of '10'!
    END-CREDIT SCENE:
    1. Tony recounts his adventure to a half-asleep Bruce Banner who protests that his doctorate doesn't qualify him to practice psychiatric therapy before Tony ignores him and goes on an even deeper dive into his childhood! The gag reveals that the entire movie has been a flashback from this session!
The next chronological stop in the MCU are the first seven episodes of Season 1 of "Agents of SHIELD" followed by the One-Shot featurette "All Hail the King" in which we catch up with Justin Hammer and Trevor Slattery in jail. The featurette is found on the "Thor: The Dark World" blu-ray or on DPlus.

Iron Patriot in the comics was an identity held by Norman Osborn (the Green Goblin from Spider-Man stories) in a period where Osborn was seemingly no longer a villain and was running his version of SHIELD (called HAMMER) and leading his own team of Avengers (really just Marvel villains that were given Avenger costumes)

Hey, Kev and Lewis! Don't miss out on the ONE-SHOTS especially the one associated with "Iron Man 3"!
Following "Avengers" is the ONE-SHOT featurette called "ITEM 47" about Chitauri tech falling into the wrong hands.
Also following "Avengers", you can see "AGENT CARTER", which occurs chronologically after "Captain America: The First Avenger", as an interlude between phases. The first 8-episode season is EXCEPTIONAL!
Whether you choose to see "Agent Carter" or not, don't skip the "AGENT CARTER" ONE-SHOT which occurs chronologically after the "Agent Carter" series.
If you want to see "AGENTS OF SHIELD", episodes 1-7 are seen after "Iron Man 3", episodes 8-16 are seen after "Thor: The Dark World" and episodes 17-22 are seen after "Captain America: The Winter Soldier".
Definitely DO NOT miss the ONE-SHOT featurette called "ALL HAIL THE KING" which takes place after Episode 7 of "Agents of SHIELD" or after "Iron Man 3" if you're not watching the series. It is ESSENTIAL VIEWING and the BEST of the one-shots!

A reminder that the MCU is one BIG story and everything follows on from it. Also there are never more than two end credit scenes which should alwasy be watched, One after the CGI credits and one after the credit crawl. So if you watch both of these parts and there's no scene then you're not missing anything (There's always at least one tho).

Just wanted to say, that like with the Star Wars franchise, some of the best Marvel content can be found in the series! The good news is with the exception of Agents of Shield, they are shorter series more akin to how the BBC makes shows. As far as jumping into the shows, I would suggest starting with Agent Carter and Agents of Shield. Agent Carter is a fun adventure series, that has both Haley Atwell and Dominic Cooper returning to their roles as Peggy and a young Howard Stark, taking place in NYC shortly after the war and introduces us to the real life Jarvis! Agents of Shield is the series that ties into the movies the most, playing off of and into the films through the first, four seasons. It actually picks up right after this movie, and like the Clone Wars you can find watch lists for watching the series in concert with the movies. Agents is an absolute roller coaster ride of a show, with an incredible cast and great script! The other big series to watch are Daredevil, Jessica Jones and The Punisher series, they are all fantastic and there is a good deal of hype about their characters making their way into the MCU. However, with the exception of a brief cameo in one of the last films and a tie into the Hawkeye series, they are for now separate, which gives you plenty of time to catch up. Jessica Jones has an absolutely insane first season, with arguably the best villain in the entire MCU. Daredevil is next level and shows just how good an action series can be, with incredible choreography, great script and stellar cast, it's also through this series that you'll be introduced to Punisher. Extra props to the leads of Punisher and Daredevil, Jon Bernthal and Charlie Cox who do an outstanding job, completely owning their characters and making you forget all about the less than stellar previous movies.

Absolutely love Iron Man in the MCU, don't get me wrong. But I do wish that the Mandarin and A.I.M had been portrayed better, a little more like how we see them in the comics.
    - The Mandarin is Iron Man's greatest enemy; a Chinese warlord and a descendant of Genghis Khan (though pretty sure half the world can claim that, given how often Genghis made the bed shake, if you know what I mean) who wore ten rings on his fingers, each with a unique power. While not as powerful a threat as Thanos or Dr. Doom, the Mandarin was a serious foe to the Avengers.
    - Advanced Idea Mechanics (A.I.M) is to Iron Man what HYDRA is to Captain America. A terrorist organization that believes it can better the world through science; usually by stealing advanced technology from Iron Man or confiscated alien technology from S.H.I.E.L.D. Picture men and women wearing yellow hazmat suits and carrying big guns.

The canister Tony threw into the sea at the end wasn't the arc reactor. It was the shrapnel. He was letting go of the things he'd let define him bc he didn't need to be more than the Mechanic. His skill wasn't tied to the reactor, or the suit, or anything external/that happened TO him. It's a realization that helps with many anxiety-based mental health problems.

    • @PhilBagels
      @PhilBagels 10 месяцев назад

yes, it was the arc reactor from his chest. But of course, he can always build a new one. And he probably needs to, since he now needs one that isn't going to be implanted in his chest, so the design might have to be different. And he's redesigning his suit, having destroyed all the previous ones with the "Clean Slate" protocol.
The shrapnel that was in him, he made into a necklace for Pepper. You can see a shot of him putting the necklace on her.
