      @@PickyPlans caustic cleans tin during cupelling, but it also worked on gold alloyed with tin

    • @PickyPlans
      @PickyPlans  5 месяцев назад +2

      And guess caustic would render a portion of PGMs into cupel specially when used with KNO3.
      Here the majority of jewelers test gold karat like this:
      They first smelt gold sample with NaOH and KNO3 after removing PGMs. They roll out the sample into a very thin bar then boil it in nitric acid to remove any silver and remaining Pd, resulted pure gold piece would be weighed again to calculate Purity...
      I think it's quite challenging to get it desirably done.
      But I really like to try.

    Excelente vídeo!
    Apreciaria muito se puder responder umas questões.
    Como você obteve as quantidades do Paládio e da Platina?
    Conseguiu determinar se o resíduo insolúvel na digestão ácida era o Ródio?
    Você tem algum vídeo sobre a metalurgia do Ródio?
    Obrigado!

    • @PickyPlans
      @PickyPlans  5 месяцев назад +1

      gracias mi amigo. el paladio se precipitó usando zinc y se cupeló por separado. Hice lo mismo con el polvo restante en el ácido nítrico y luego lo pesé con una báscula sensible. Alao, puedes hacer la prueba con una pistola XRF antes de tratar con ácido nítrico. Sí, el residuo negro podría probarse hirviéndolo en un poco de agua regia. Si se disuelve, es platino y, si no, lo más probable es que sea rodio. Desafortunadamente, todavía no tengo ningún vídeo sobre el refinado de rodio, pero estoy considerando hacer algunos...

      Thanks man. Please clarify one more doubt for me. Wouldn't Platinum have dissolved in nitric acid along with Silver and Palladium?

    • @PickyPlans
      @PickyPlans  5 месяцев назад +1

      No problem.
      No it would be released as black powder while dissolution of alloy. This happens to gold and rhodium but gold and platinum could be dissolved in hot aqua regia.

    the concentration method you used could be used for other dense minerals right? such as lead or tungsten bearing minerals?

    Brother !! Please can you yell me why you add nails?? They absorb the oxidized sulfides ?? I heard that they also can absorb litharge !! Is that true

    • @PickyPlans
      @PickyPlans  20 дней назад

      Nails react with precious metals oxide and Litharge to form and PM alloy in lead. In case of sulfides it goes into sulfide and pushes PM from sulfide out into the collector metal

    Specific Gravity
    Lead = 11.4
    Silver = 10.49
    Gold =19.32
    Platinum = 21.45
    Paladium = 12.0
    Ruthenium =12.2
    Rhodium =12.44
    Irridium = 21.59
    Do you spot the issues with Concrntration? Values Can be lost.
    What I do is burn my rocks with very hot flame, which allows the metals to bind within the rocks. Then easily crush them dampened and rinse off the dust into a bucket.
    Then I dry in a pan with enough heat to remove Sulphur, then using a magnet, remove ferromagnetic material.
    I filter out the mud, and rinse well with water within the filter, and dry, demagnetize too.
    Then I mix some Sodium Carbonate and Borax to pull the metals together and with a Torch, smelt. From the crucible I drop the smelt in Cold water.
    And finally just by squeezing tand crumbling he metal balls covered with slag in my hands, the quartz/borax comes off the metals.
    I get what you get, but more.... And most importantly, the element seem to stick together because while using my torch, I work the molten stuff pressing it together with a scissor type tong.
    Once the metals in gran sizes are liberated, then you can refine.

    دوست عزیز
    شما ابتدا تشویه را انجام بدهید به روش احیا بصورت سه مرحله ای
    در نظر داشته باشید اکسید الومنیوم موجود در خاک یکی از عوامل مزاحم است که بسیار مشکل زا هست. و کمتر کسی به آن توجه میکند.
    شبیه به فلز روی ، فلزات گرانبها را به سرباره منتقل میکند.

    • @PickyPlans
      @PickyPlans  5 месяцев назад

      ممنون از توجه شما
      به دلیل کم بودن حجم نمونه فرایند رو خیلی پیچیده نکردم و سعی شد که سولفید با لیتارژ یا آبه سربی اکسید بشه .
      اکسید آلومینیوم تا حجم های مشخصی در وجود بوراکس و آبه سرب به سرباره روان تبدیل میشه ، حتی توی کاتالیست خودرو هم با این فرمول مشکلی ایجاد نمیکنه
