This is what I've been looking for! Thanks for this video! PS: I wonder how a well designed japanese vehicle like a 4runner couldn't come with this type of solution from factory. Plus... a friggin smaller 4 x 4" hole on the actual skid plate will make the oil change much easier. No need to remove the whole darn thing. Can't understand why Toyota didn't get this fixed.
It is all manufactured by robotics. It would cost to much to program the robotics to make those or it would have to be done at an assembly point which would need a different robot. Any little change on an assembly line costs big bucks over a year. Anything which cannot be done simply with robotics is just not done anymore. Blow and go.
Thanks for sharing. Just got a new 4Runner. This is a whole new world for us. I looked at the skid plate you got. Unfortunately, it won't work for us because the 4Runner has KDSS - not compatible. God Bless and stay safe.
Rci has the skid for you. My 2015 has the black steel plate on it and it’s a perfect matchup to my KDSS. Enoy your Toy.. love the hell out of mine. Just got back from running the shelf roads in Hualapie state park.
Dealing with this same issue, just bought a RCI Skid Plate and need to find someone local who can do this repair the right way, I live in Baltimore Maryland if anyone knows of a shop? thanks
Great video man. I have watched your trail on TAT and Across America videos... You have put Apple through so much that Toyota should be paying you. With that said, if you bought another Toyota product would you go with another 4Runner?
I replaced my skid bolts with flanged button head bolts. easier to slide over rocks better than catching a hex head with flat sides hanging down. ask me how I know🙃👍 Looking forward to your adventures 💯🏆
SWG- You in Mesa? I'll buy you a beer for all your hard work! I had no idea about AZ toy pros and I'm right down the street! Another banger video!
I will be back late Jan I'll take you up on that offer!!
Dealing with this very issue right now! Thank you for this!
Absolutely

Yeah minor oversight for sure.
The engineers and mechanics don't work together.

My boy Ben getting it done for you 🤘🏽
Yeah man. Top notch dude
Ben killing it again! Tacoma is good to go, but I definitely need to have him do this on my Sequoia...
Can you guys list what's the flanged rivet nut that you are using? The ones I find online don't look as beefy as those!
This particular one was in his spare bin
Had the bolts break off on my 2014 Tacoma, thanks for the how-to. Where can I purchase the replacement inserts? Thanks.
We just used some old bolts laying around the shop but you can pick um up at any hardware store
@@SirWilliamGoes what about the inserts?

Looking at purchasing a 4th gen, any special years or things to look for ? Currently in a jeep grand 06 witch has no support as to parts.
Not anything really in particular maybe just look for excessive rust. If it has that stay away!!
Welcome to Toyota land !
Nice fix, Had to do this on my tundra as well! BashFab has you covered in the southeast!
Hell yeah brother. I need to swing by for crawl night while I'm here for a few weeks but I ain't got my creamer e
I have a Tundra with the same issue. What exactly did you have done to fix problem?

Absolutely without hesitation

I work with Ben before he a great mechanic I would love to take my 4runner and get some things done just like what he did on the skid plate.
Yeah man. Great guy
I had to weld a new nut on my turd gen because I decided to go one turn too much and stripped the threads out LOL
Yep. It happens
You're just too rough on it! )
Lol
