Brett at Underdog is awesome. These skids are really nice. Price is great and quality is high.

Agreed! Your name looks familiar. Do you run an alignment shop in the East Valley?

Love it and thank you for posting. I painted mine black with Steel-it. Did you look at the plates for the lower control arms?

Sweet! I noticed they were included in the kit now on the Underdog Motorsport website. Mine were not included but I want to look a little closer at them to see if they are worth it. Do you have them?

@@AZOverland2017 I do not but am considering adding them to round out the kit.

@@AZOverland2017 I've read mixed reviews on LCA skids. First off, the LCAs are pretty stout on their own and are really protected by the wheel. Second, most LCA skids trap mud and water and even after using a pressure washer, mud and water remain causing rust issues. The ones you're talking about might be different in that regard. The guys at Summit don't recommend them unless you do Baja racing or King of Hammers. YMMV.

Nice work, Anthony! The OEM gas tank skid is a joke. I'd recommend installing a steel skid on the rear diff. That is the lowest point of the 4Runner and there are a couple of plugs that could get damaged, especially with how you drive! :)) Since you're already under there, you might consider installing an ARB breather kit for the front & rear diff, transfer case and transmission to prevent water intrusion. Did I miss a shot of the ever-present banana?

Thank you. Those items are definitely on my list, it's just a matter of time, budget, and which product I choose. Banana coming soon...

Thank you for sharing. Just got a TRD Pro Off Road with KDSS so looking for Skid Plates. We're not hardcore, but want some protection since we are interested in doing some "overland" and visit places like Moab, etc. . How are the Aluminum Skid Plates holding out and Do they provide coverage over the Catalytic Converter to make it harder to steal. Also, were you able to get the bolt in the transmission skid on okay. Or did you leave your "hack" and is it secured? Again, just found your channel. Subscribed. God Bless and Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the comment. We have only been to a few trails since the install. I haven't been under the 4Runner yet to inspect, but I think they will be just fine for what we do. Everything is secured well with the transmission skid plate. The in frame bolts they provided for the front part are indeed a little tricky, but I was able to make it work.
Thanks for the subscription and Merry Christmas to you as well!

I think at this point the 5th gen is so long in the tooth that everything has been done. I still love my 2017 that’s the most complete off road camping machine on earth. I know that’s bold but I dare anyone to challenge me. Aluminum skids are a bad idea for certain cases as they smear and stick to some rock. Definitely better than nothing though. I wish I could run them because of the light weight but I don’t believe they would last for me. Cheers
