Thanks for sharing Eric. This is the true picture of an elk hunt, grinding every day. I know that elevation and the miles add up to really work on your physical stamina. You guys rock.
Rough hunts like these make the successes all the sweeter, love the journey the struggles and the adventures it’s what makes the outdoors so special, keep up the amazing content and thank you for bringing us all along
I grew up in NM and as a kid, we went many seasons without filling a tag. I remember the indescribable feeling in the bottom of my stomach when I knew my hunt was over! I haven’t had that feeling in a long time and it all came back when you were talking about how your hunt was over. It’s real and thank you for sharing! It brought back lots of memories!
eric you just reached a whole new level of hunter to me! for you not to shoot that big bull and just take that moment to be with the elk and observe them at last light bugling and chirping, thats one of the most beautifle things any hunter can ever experience, and holding that tru expression of being better than ok with that is absolutely amazing, you sir are now on the next level. this is one of the greatests examples of how all of us hunters can carry ourselves, I envision you encountering that big one you passed on in the future or one of his relatives and it may be the biggest bull you ever get. stay sharp brother!
Thank you so much! That was an amazing experience watching and listening to those elk below me. It just wasn’t the bull I was after and I’m ok with that.
Great video, Eric. We can always second guess passing up bulls, but you still had a great hunt with friends. I’ve killed 18 bulls and the experience of being in the hills with my family and friends means way more to me than the racks in the shed. Congrats on another great experience doing what you love.
I’ve had more seasons that ended with tag soup than I have with an animal down. All were successful, with family and friends to spend that time with. Way to give it your all. It’ll make your next one that much more meaningful.
Good job holding out! I’ve only taken 2 bulls in the last 12yrs. Hard to pass on a legal bull but for me it’s about the experience. You learn something new every year! Great hunt guys!
You guys are the most you guys are the most dedicated hunters I've ever watched on RUclips and I congratulate you for the way you guys conduct yourselves. Good luck guys!
I love watching the grind and see all the Hush team always putting forth their best effort. Way to go gentlemen! Me personally I would have taken that Bull but that’s because I have not filled and elk tag yet. Although my goal is to get a Bull in September during the archery hunts in NM. I am completely hooked on archery. Not knowing any better I got into the archery game late. However 2024 will be my year! I am excited training and getting ready! Keep that beautiful Elk footage rolling! Thank you Hush for sharing everything the highs and the lows! 👏🏼🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼💯🔥
Thank you 🙏 Super excited for you to get out there next September. We hope you walk off the Mtn with your first bull, make sure to update us and good luck!
Nice. Love the grind. Beats the pants out of guys shooting a dink from the truck. Most guys who create “content” are shooting animals just because, but those of us who really hunt don’t want to see the small animal that no one is proud of sticking out of the backpack. It’s not the kill that’s interesting, it’s the grind for an animal that makes you excited and proud to shoot--not solely because it’s legal.
I had a bull pre selected to shoot, the bull I found last year. But you’re the type of person that just wants to dos credit what I’ve already accomplished. Enjoy your misery buddy.
I have hunted elk in Colorado for 54 years. I have had many hunts in those years in which I never saw an elk or even a fresh track. I can say with certainty that when you are fixated on elk far away you may not notice the big one that walks behind you. I've seen that happen more than once. I've also found it's not necessary to go miles into back country to find elk. Many hunters pass elk by on their way to the back country. Stay next to a tree and never sky line yourself. I used to hunt alone and there's no feeling like the primal feeling you get when you harvest an elk by yourself and are able to get it out by yourself. I've experienced nothing more satisfying but have passed on elk before because of the location.
As always good content!! Love the channel and the content you guys put out!! Love seeing you guys have a goal in mind and sticking to it even if you don’t wrap a tag around some antlers!!
Eric it is a pleasure to be able to follow you around in the mountains on a hunt ,I enjoy all your hunts .I think you done right in passing on that Bull, you deserve what makes you fell good when killed, anyhow heck of a hunt and same for you Mat,I have been watching All guys you are all great.I look forward to opening up every Monday to see what you guys have done.KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR YOUR GOOD WORK
There is no rule to shoot or not shoot a bull. Up to the hunter. Tag was not wasted. Another good adventure. I have past up good muley bucks in hopes of a bigger one and ate my tag. My choice!
I’ve hunted The bridger teton range north east of Jackson Wyoming and Craig Colorado east of..just a suggestion maybe to much of spreading your scent everywhere in stead of being more patient…just a thought…great video 🤠🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦👍👍👍
Love the videos! Any chance you could highlight your rifle manufacturers, caliber, ammo, optics used in the videos like you do with some of the other gear? I’m just curious to see what everyone hunts with. Either way thanks for the great videos and I always look forward to seeing more!
Been there, done that. A few years ago I let a not so spectacular 5 point walk on opening morning. He turned out to be the biggest bull I saw on that hunt.
It happens. I was 100% ok with passing that bull knowing there was a high chance I wouldn’t see anything bigger. But, I wanted that chance even though time was running out.
I'd love to share this video with all the women on this one video I've seen a couple times where the wife is just having fun with her husband after his deer hunt went unsuccessful and he was about to head off to an elk hunt. It was a cute video but here comes all the bitter, man hating women saying things like "He's not hunting" and stuff like that, implying and straight out saying he's cheating on her because he didn't get anything. Its like they expect you to get something every time and that the animals are just jumping out at you begging to be taken. Pathetic how they take a cute 15 second video and turn it into that. Its hunting, its not supposed to be easy, your not guaranteed to get anything. You guys worked hard for it and didn't get anything. Such a bummer but still an awesome video, got to see some gorgeous country, a lot of nice elk who will become big bulls in the future hopefully :) As a photographer, I would have been super happy lol. I think I would love elk hunting, but have never hunted before and would not be able to afford a non resident tag in another state. We have a few small herds I think here in Minnesota but I haven't looked into seeing if they allowed hunting of them, and if so, I bet those are hard tags to get. I would totally hunt with my friend in Wyoming but those non resident tags are so expensive! Much respect to you.
Hey Eric and Matt, it seems like New Mexico might be a dead end. Your nit the first that had no luck😮. You did well till the end. Way to stick it out Bro's! JO JO IN VT 💞
Our LE elk hunt in here in Utah this year was just like this hunt. We hunted every day of the hunt plus two scouting days before. We had almost the same story. Covered a ton of country, and country we know holds big bulls. We only saw two giants, one the night before the hunt, and one during that we made a play on and just couldn't make it happen. We were able to connect with a decent bull on the last day, but not what we were hoping for. Unfortunately, 15 min after we shot this bull, the giant from the night before the opener stepped out. He had been there the whole time. He just stayed timbered up. In the end, we were very happy with the bull my sister shot, but it was just a different year this year. I'm sure it was the crazy winter we had, but everything was just off. For us it just felt like with all the feed and moisture that the elk, and deer for that matter, are just spread out more across the landscape and not so herded up. Crazy season and quite the grind for sure!
Proof that they’re there even when you don’t see them. Sounds like you guys got the chance to hunt giant bulls with the family. I’m glad you got that time spent together on the mountain. Congrats on the bull she shot 👊🏼
@@gethushin we did. As off as everything was this year, I got to have that elk hunt with the family, I hunted the general any bull with a bow in hand with two very good friends thar we were successful in filing one of our tags (a very hard hunt that took all three of us to get that bull down), and hunted mule deer with my son for 6 of the 9 day hunt. It was a fun season chuck full of ups and downs, but always Blast! Can't wait to see the rest of your session play out! I have gotten allot of my pasion and will to grind hard from watching your videos, so thank you!
Erick, its sad to see you have turned into a trophy hunter, you use to be the kind of hunter that stands for all of us elk hunters who draw a tag and are happy to harvest any elk that puts food on the table. isnt that what elk hunting is all about? or is there a new recipe how to cook horns?
Eric, you broke rule #1 of elk hunting. NEVER leave elk to find elk. You had a shooter bull within range, and you opted to go look for even bigger bulls rather than taking him. After being on that mountain for over a week, you already knew that there weren't any bigger bulls.
They are up there I know it. We just couldn’t find them. I’m ok with not filling that tag with that bull, I’m blessed to have many elk tags each fall. I was up for the challenge and ok with tag soup.
In my book its disrespectful to those who supported you all week, those who could have benefited from the meat, and those who didnt get a chance to uunt because you drew a tag and chased horns. This is the main reason I struggle with this channel.
@@natebranch1323to be fair though it’s his tag to do with as he pleases..anyone who has the tag could’ve done the same thing…no reason to complain about a channel or someone hunting a tag how they want to
Thanks for sharing Eric. This is the true picture of an elk hunt, grinding every day. I know that elevation and the miles add up to really work on your physical stamina. You guys rock.
Glad you enjoyed it. We left it all on the mountain that hunt. Wouldn’t do it any different with the knowledge we had.
Rough hunts like these make the successes all the sweeter, love the journey the struggles and the adventures it’s what makes the outdoors so special, keep up the amazing content and thank you for bringing us all along
Couldn't agree more!
A very relatable hunt, we all experience more failures than we do successes. Thanks for sharing!
I quote you, " Im itching to see whats over there". " I came here to hunt". You nailed it, amen bro.
Right on 🤘🏼

Awesome hunt! You hunt harder and longer than anyone! Love watching the new vids every Sunday! Great content!
Glad you’re enjoying the season, thanks for watching weekly 👌
That’s why it’s called hunting not killing well done guys!
Appreciate it!

Totally agree! This was still an amazing experience. I’m addicted to the suffering… that’s just how I like to hunt.
Great hunt! Thanks for taking us along with you. Eric, you deliver outstanding video content, and you are very genuine. Much appreciated.
Dude, Eric and Matt. That Basecamp is legit. 🔥

Well said! It just didn’t feel right in that moment, but I sure enjoyed it.
This was a real video. Loved it! You may have not seen or got one , but you went home knowing you did your best.
So true! Gave it all we had up there.
Great Vid Eric. Loved it. Shows the amount of effort and persistance you all put in. Respect.
One of the best HUSH videos ever. Relatable
Appreciate that 🙏
That peak area will kick your behinds! But wasn’t for lack of effort! Solid video!
Worked us once again!! But always an adventure up there
Great job Eric. This is a win in my book. It’s amazing how much you learn when on these hunts. Thanks for taking us along. Take care, see ya :)
Thank you! Each time out there’s so much to learn. See you on the next one!
That bull needed another year!!
Even if someone else gets him!!!

you gave it all Eric,,,,,,, I had a rifle tag for that unit but gave it up there;s better unit with bigger bull's keep up the great work
Thank you! There’s definitely better units, I do love the grind and nostalgia of this hunt with great friends.
It's a lot harder when you don't have a connection that has already scouted and preselected a bull for you to shoot huh?

Can't kill em from the couch!
If you shoot small bulls or bucks you will never shoot those 200” bucks or 400” bulls!
Is this private land?
No, public.
