Hi Tony🙋this video is a keeper 👍 what fantastic tips from Terry....l was glued and will be sorting my greenhouse out so l can grow things the way he dose, please say thank you to him from us.Thanks for taking the time for videoing this and sharing 👌all the very best 🌱🌱🌱💕
Great video, really interesting with lots of clever techniques. Don't know if it'd be rude to ask Mike and Terry but it'd be interesting to know about the finances of allotments and the spend to return ratio and how much of what they eat is self grown. I found it interesting the other day with your talk of the onions and garlic cost to grow. But I must say as a growing novice you've hooked me and inspired.
TBH... It's a wide ranging question mate... Personally we are currently eating 40% of our vegetables from our plots at a combined cost of just under £1000 per year in overall outlay mate.... We plan to be 90% veg consumption by 2022 given the 8th of am acre we currently farm... With an ongoing cost per year of £500 ish going forward... It has taken 4 years to get us were we are, but I hope the videos are an assistance to the growers to NOT make the cropping and growing mistakes that we did pal. It's A continual process of ergonomic refinement mate, but If we are committed to the process. I think we can achieve the desired results. SELF SUFUCIENT BY 2026. in all aspects my mate!! Wish us LUCK and I will do the same for you Bro.!!! ~ATB GURU M
R'reet Tony, It's always good to see someone else's set up, Terry has a great set up there in his poly tunnel & raised beds, very neat & well thought out. Nickname Terry Dactyl came to mind lol. Weren't they a band in the 1970's. Keep growin wi yed dehn mate.
Good afternoon Tony 😊 would you be so kind as to ask Terry how much he would of paid for his Sotrafa plastic that he covered his polytunnel in,let know it's been....what was it! Eleven years ago.And what l would expect to pay for it now days.Thankyou so very much our gardening friend, Joyce and Jon to 👍.
hi joyce i got my polly tunnel plastic from notrhern polly tunnels you will find it on the internet i think they have changed the plastic to limisol cant find a price joyce but you can send for a brochure from them cheers terry
🇬🇧 Love the pea set up and everywhere is beautifully neat but doesn't he grow winter brassicas ? My favourites veggies are peas and greens, especially Purple Sprouting Broccoli. Not fussed on calabreese. An allotment to be proud of.
Usually he does Sara, but every 3 years he leaves the ground bare to allow it to rest fallow. I have purple sprouting broccoli which I will be doing in the buckets inside the greenhouse shortly so stay tuned for that one mate. x ATB Tony M
Hi Tony, great video full of tips and tricks. You both mentioned Jeyes Fluid in March. Was that just on your pots or for the path and poly plastic interior? The issue of condensation has been a real headache for me and I’m sure the reason I had blight in my tunnel (newbie so making rookie mistakes) 🤦🏼♀️😩 lesson learned! . I can’t grow my tomatoes outside as its too windy and wet so, I’m in the process of removing all the compost and soil down about 6” and adding raised beds in there in the hope of growing tomatoes next year. Any tips on minimising blight spores in preparation gratefully received 🙏🏼
Check out our playlist on tomato Karen... I give all the tips in there regarding in ground watering, spacing pruning and allowing ventilation around the plants.. Single stemming and allowing at least 18 inches between the vining plants is a big help... If they are too close and you have too much leaf on the plants, this is a breeding ground for the blight.. Make sure to add Bone meal or plenty of fine crushed egg shells into the ground or bucket you grow your plants in ~ This adds in the calcium the roots need to grow up health plants. We use liquid feed only when to get the first fruiting trusses on the plants... Ask a fellow allotmenteer if you have comphrey on the plot and watch my video on how to make comphrey TEA... This stuff is the best plant feed for the tomatoes you could ever use so if you havent got comphrey.. Order some seeds and grow your own love.. Hope this helps and best of luck for next year Karen.. ATB Tony M
Thanks Tony, I did most of the above ( already have comphrey seeds, they’re going in once my IBC tank is positioned). I planted my plants 24” apart but the leaf growth was massive, probably taking 2 big armfuls off daily so could well have been an issue. I’ll check out the playlist thanks again 🙏🏼
BUT how do peas get pollinated if double doors ?? Great setup thanks for showing this ps will you more next summer 👍👍👍👍👍👍Nick name ( tidy terry ) just a thought 👍👍
hi graham i pollinate my peas by planting them two inch apart that way when the peas grow they will intertwine each other so they polinate each other ive never pollinate my peas by hand thankyou terry
hi lynda about march next year i dilute jeyes fluid in a bucket and i wash everything in the tunnel i.e all the tomatoe buckets the floors and all the plastic inside the pollytunnel including the doors you need everything spottless before you plant hope this helps you thankyou terry

Also Try First Tunnels if you are in the UK Love... To fit a tunnel the size of mine or Terry's you will need to spend about £90 or so.
