  • It's finally here. It took me ages to make, but I think it's fair to say it's my best edited video so far.
    God only knows when the next one's due to comes out.

    One can definitely see how much you have improved in editing (the Cutter/Leek montage and the Shaun of the Dead reference were my favorites) and critiquing more than just the creatures. I am impressed how much you managed to squeeze into just under 15 minutes. As a non-Brit I also liked the beginning about the producers because I only started to follow the behind the scenes stuff after series 2 was broadcasted.

      Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it (and caught the SotD reference)! I'm going to try to do more plot and character critique in future, looking back at series 1 I already regret not mentioning a lot of things...

  • @animalman57

    To be fair to the them adding more popular prehistoric animals, most of the episodes still didn't have dinosaurs or very popular creatures. Instead of the classic Woolly mammoth, they picked the more obscured but much larger Columbian mammoth, they added the Eocene crocodillian Pristichampsus which almost no one has heard, they added the odd croc Kaprosuchus which is growing in popularly, is still relativity unknown, and they added and quite a few more. Really, the only big name creatures off the top of my head are Pteranodon, T. rex, Spinosaurus, unnamed species of Terror birds, Giganotosaurus, and Smilodon.

    • @bennettfender1546

      animalman57 giganotosaurus isn't even a big name animal to general public only to paleo nerds really.

    • @dimetrodon2250
      @dimetrodon2250 5 лет назад +6

      terror birds and giganotosaurus were really only well known to those who grew up with the Walking With series. Also the name Smiliodon isn't really that well known either

    Also, theory:
    What if the Giga from season 3 is a Carcharodontosaurus and the raptors in the series, "morrocoraptor". Morrocoraptor is a poorly known dromaeosaurid from Morroco which is known only from teeth and claws. It would explain why in the African forest we had raptors with spinosaurus in season 4. And also why giganotosaurus heads could be seen at the ending of season 3.

    • @daliborjovanovic510
      @daliborjovanovic510 6 лет назад +3

      You're seriously trying to rationalize the scientific inaccuracies in a show like Primeval? And what you`re forgetting is an in-universe phenomenon that can actually be used to hand wave any examples of temporal and geographically misplaced wildlife : animals traveling trough anomalies, like the Future Predator entering to live in the Permian in episode 6.
      And you're also forgetting that in real life there were raptors that coexisted with Giganotosaurus, mainly unenlagiines like Buitreraptor.

    • @theferretman2157
      @theferretman2157 6 лет назад +2

      Dalibor Jovanovic except that the raptor looked like the Spinosaur episode, and this theory actually makes a lot of sense if you look into it.

    • @daliborjovanovic510
      @daliborjovanovic510 6 лет назад +2

      Yes they do look the same, which makes it pretty plausible that they were Deinonychus/Utahraptor that went trough an anomaly. The real explanation however is that the makers of the series simply didn't care about accuracy and went "Raptors vs Spinosaurus?! FUCK YEAH!!!"
      Sumair Ahmer theory doesn't make any more sense, it's just more convoluted and ignoring the obvious explanations.

    Oh yeah, the review of Season 2 has come.
    Great review, it was worth the wait.
    When I fist watxhed it, I was honestly surprised that it took them this long for a Dinosaur to appear, but the Raptors became a series regular after this, so there is that.
    Can´t wait to see more from you and I have to say that I have never thought of Leek´s and Cutter´s "relationship" in the way you brought it up XD

    • @Edaphosaurus
      @Edaphosaurus  6 лет назад +3

      Then again, they'd been calling the synapsids/anapsids/mosasaurs/pterosaurs "Dinosaurs" for ages...

  • @daliborjovanovic510
    @daliborjovanovic510 6 лет назад +7

    Wow, Cutter decked a Deinonychus XD
    I gotta say, while very innacurate, I do love the designs the designs for the Primeval raptors, the striped/counter-shaded look and the blue around the eyes along with the rattle covered back is nice touch and very eye catching, instead of just copycatting Jurassic Park like every other piece of media and making them drab colored, two-legged goannas. And I don't think they have feathers as much as hardened keratinous rattles like the rattleback from The Future Is Wild, I doubt feathers can make rattling sounds.

    • @theferretman2157
      @theferretman2157 6 лет назад +1

      Dalibor Jovanovic you doubt to much what evolution can do, protofeathers have never really been documented, so who knows if they can actually do that, and feathers would be more likely to fall of then the keratinous ridges (if you don't know what I mean it's in episode 5.3).

    • @Edaphosaurus
      @Edaphosaurus  6 лет назад +7

      The design is iconic to say the least

    • @daliborjovanovic510
      @daliborjovanovic510 6 лет назад +1

      And you evidently don't know anything about paleontology. First of protofeathers have been documented in many dinosaur species, we knew of protofeathers on dinosaurs before we knew about penacious feathers on dinosaurs, the former was esentially like fur. And soft fur or feathers can't rattle. The rest of what you said makes no sense.
      Please don't try to "correct" people when you have no idea what you're talking about. It ain't an insult, it's just helpful advice.

  • @prehistorichero2755

    7:00 Well you know that Dromeosaurs like the Dakotaraptors can climb trees to avoid predators or ambush their prey, but they don’t climb on walls like geckos because their claws are designed for climbing trees.

    As far as I can tell, at least one of them is based on Utahraptor, making more accurate that the rest which are based on Deinoncys (tell me how it's correctly spelled), but it's there one thing missing, feathers. Otherwise it's more accurate that the rest.

    • @Edaphosaurus

      @Animusprimalemperor6257 6 лет назад +3

      Actually, as I was talking the Uathraptor model from the Isle. But, I'm not so about the JP one. It's a mix of all 3 (It has Velociraptor' name, the skeletal design is from Deinonychus, and the height is from Uathraptor. So, basically it's a Fakoraptor).

      Edaphosaurus the creatures that I'm writing are Deviants. A Deviant refers to any animal that's more distinctive, specialized, successful, and harder to kill than a normal animal in a given ecosystem. They can come from either Earth or alien planets. Do you think they could exist? If so, what examples from the real world or popular media would you consider to be Deviants?
