Between this, Nat Geos' Sea Monsters and Jurassic World, Deus Ex Mosasaur may well be its' own trope. Also, I always thought the Hesperornis were designed with penguin-type feathers that weren't properly visible on the CG model, but they actually gave it scales? Ouch.
Maybe mosasaurs were like killer whales where it purposely beach themselves to hunt a _Hesperornis_ since we have bite marks on _Hesperornis_ from mosasaurs, but I think more often then not, they hunted them in water, but they may of did that too.
I dont mind a lot of the inconsistencies with reality. Its just them calling everything a dinosaur that annoys me. Im surprised the future preadator wasnt called a dinosaur
I love primeval😃😃😃👍🏻👍🏻😎😎💛💛!!! Please bring it back!!! And explain what started the anomalys explainin the origin of them!!! But the mosasaur in Jurassic world was massive but again that’s probably another creature of the Jurassic movies that’s not biologically accurate and he finds a familiar face Nigel Marvin😂😂😂👍🏻!!!
I think it is fair to say we see a few instances of fault lines in future seasons, though not as explicitly. Emilys anomaly in season 4 and 5 might be one. Maybe a bit of a stretch, but entirely possible.
One thing I didn't like about the series was how they over used violence, for example in this episode they killed a full grown man with a flightless pelican.
Yes, I believe that was done more frequentliy on the later seasons as a panic reaction to the going back viewer numbers. Personaly I had the feeling as well watching those episodes for the first time,, It was one reason my fascination for PRIMEEAVAL became slimmer.
0:47 Holy Fucking Shit! The Primeval Tylosaurus takes shrink-wrapping to a whole new extreme. That thing is literally a swimming skeleton with skin draped over it, I was seriously expecting the episode to end with the creature dropping dead from starvation.
@@Edaphosaurus Ignore my previous requests this does it. Thank you for doing this. Edit: um episode 2 is missing just a heads up. Damn what isn't on RUclips is always on Dailymotion. All the walking with beasts & dinosaurs & all the rest.
2:50 The STUBBORN BEHAVIOUR ties in with the second intrigue plot about the govenment trying to snatch away some of the more dangerous creatures for " some kind of a weapon program ". The first one of cours centers around the wife of Cutter.
Hey Edaphosaurus. I love these reviews of primeval episodes, keep it up. Even though, as you pointed out there are inaccuracies in terms of the creatures they show, I still find this show my favourite of all time. I not only want a season 6 but I crave it. I have a question for you Edaphosaurus, do you also crave season 6 to become a reality one day?
Supreme Archer I really want season 6 of Primeval, especially given the cliff hanger ending, though given the choice I'd probably still rather have season 2 of Prehistoric park!
Edaphosaurus Ah ok. I really do like prehistoric park, it gave us an insight on how prehistoric creatures lived. However, for me Primeval will always come first.
I'll have to admit, the constant Nigel Marven intercuts made me chuckle. And I agree that this episode is a nice example of Primeval introducing an interesting idea and completely forgetting about it forever (the fault line). But again, you complain so much about the mosasaur and Hesperornis that it seems like too much nitpicking. I would still say the resolution of the Hesperornis moel is so low that you can't really see whether it's scales or skin or streamlined feathers like in a penguin.
Exept that we see a whole flock of Hesperornis in broad daylight later on and either way it doesn't change the fact that they are inexplicably portrayed as someones plucked turkey dinner brought back to life. And how is any of that nitpicking, did you even look at the Primeval/Saurian mosasaur comparison, you would have to be visually impaired not to notice all the inaccuracies and artistic liberties. Plus if you're reviewing a series about prehistoric animals it's only natural and fitting to point out real paleontological facts and compare them with the fictionalized depiction of the animals. Spreading knowledge is always better than just basking in ignorance.
@@daliborjovanovic510 Also it might be a fault of the time it was realised in. Also the toy which I have makes it like you say naked but then again it might be a mistake caused by the software they used to render it, low budget & maybe a bit of laziness.
I actually quite like the Primeval mosasaur design. I mean don't get me wrong, I fully acknowledge that it's not accurate, like...not even remotely, but I think it's a neat looking design.
4:57 to make it even worse they're using footage where the mososaur is well under water despite in the other clip it's in water shallow enough for people to stand in.
Yeah, it doesnt look great, but at least its not ridiculously oversized....... shit. Still at least its cooler awesomebroness than the bland awesomebroness of Jurassic World. THATS A MOSASAUR IN DINOTOPIA?! wtf happened there?
NERD Incorporated it is not overly sized the great white shark it ate was probably a juvenile and it's clearly stated on the website to be 60 feet aka the size of the largest mososaurus specimens so no other than the lack of a tail fluke there is nothing inaccurate about the Jurassic world mososaurus.
Actually there's more wrong: there's this row of spines on its back as well as those osteodermy things. Those shouldn't be there, we know how mosasaur scales looked like. They're really tiny. Also, it definitely is too huge. If you compare how oversized it already is in comparison to the crowd in front of it even though the crowd is way closer to the camera you'll definitely end up with a blue whale sized marine reptile if you'd bring it to the same distance. The fact that it's skull is way bigger than that of the Indominus or Rexy's is also another big clue.
Not really, the Jurassic World mosasaur is a middle of the road depiction as far as accuracy goes, it's still shrinkwrapped and its back is covered in osteoderms, plus lacking a tail fluke isn't exactly a small detail, that would be like showing a shark or an orca without a fluke. The JW mosasaur would have been an alright depiction of mosasaur back in in the mid 2000s, but not so much today.
No offense, but you forgot to mention how the mosasaur cannibalism is accurate.
I was waiting for that Nigel cameo and you didn't disappoint :)
Keep up the great work!
I love how nigel dies twice in that series
Between this, Nat Geos' Sea Monsters and Jurassic World, Deus Ex Mosasaur may well be its' own trope. Also, I always thought the Hesperornis were designed with penguin-type feathers that weren't properly visible on the CG model, but they actually gave it scales? Ouch.
Well, since he said the mosasaur was small at 6-7 meters and they lived with _Hesperornis_, it may be a juvenile _Tylosaurus_.
I herd the to be continued music, and I knew it was going to be when the Mosa got him. Nice touch ;)
Maybe mosasaurs were like killer whales where it purposely beach themselves to hunt a _Hesperornis_ since we have bite marks on _Hesperornis_ from mosasaurs, but I think more often then not, they hunted them in water, but they may of did that too.
This episode really messed with me, I wouldn't swim in the deep end of swimming pools with fears of being eaten
I used to have that problem as a kid but it was with the liopluerodon from WWD cause of how you can't see too far in a large indoor swimming pool
"This makes the Jurassic World Mosasaur look good" funny enough, the JW mosasaur falls under the 'not actually that bad' column
Ehh, aside from being *hilariously* oversized, you're not wrong.
I dont mind a lot of the inconsistencies with reality. Its just them calling everything a dinosaur that annoys me. Im surprised the future preadator wasnt called a dinosaur

Also, please do Series 2.
Okay, I must congratulate Edaphosaurus on the sheer brilliance of having that Nigel Marvin clip when he did. That was simply too good.
The Can I have your IPod scene was amazing, please include it if you do review series 2

Could Hesperornis stand upright at all?
12:07 there’s always a bigger fish.
7:07 bottom left corner, is that a Power Rangers toy? Ninja Storm Crimson Ranger?
If you do that episode with Nigel Marven, you have to make him meet Nigel Marven!
To be honest I like that design of Mosasaurus bruh
It’s cool but inaccurate.

Hey. Is there anywhere else you uploaded the review of the first two episodes?

I was rewatching/introducing some college buddies to Primeval and then decided to rematch this series only to find that episode 2 is blocked.
Oddly enough, we were also watching a bit of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (where the "to be continued..." meme comes from)
Sorry, that completely passed me by try this: www.dailymotion.com/video/x6te166
@@Edaphosaurus doesn't work. Just luck I guess.
Hesperornis(or however the fuck it's pronounced):
Basically a big ass toothed penguin
More like big, toothy loon.
Did those anomaly fault lines ever come up again ?

Edit: but 8:47 was also good, gotta love the Wilhelm screem
