    I just realized that at the time, Rex would have been the first to be extinct twice since the ibex did that in 2009 rather than 2007..

    Thinking about something... The reason why those Anurognathids are attracted by blood and live in swarms could be because of the influences of David Peters' not-so-good and completely wacky studies*. He proposed that one species of Anurognathid, namely Jeholopterus, was a blood sucker because he thought they had huge fangs. I see it sadly pop up from time to time in RUclips vids that think it's a fact (which it absolutely isn't) and I'm pretty sure that the producers of Primeval stumbled upon such vids or Peters' website which gave the inspiration for this. After all the taste for blood is already proposed and vampire bats live in colonies.
    *If you don't know about David Peters: he comes to his conclusions by basicaly editing pictures of fossils on photoshop untill he sees weird things surrounding them that he then interprets as preserved (soft) tissues. Yes, photoshop.

    • @Edaphosaurus
      @Edaphosaurus  6 лет назад +3

      Robin Liesens that's quite possible, but I have some reservations. I'm not quite sure how prevalent Peters was in 2006, as while he had suggested vampirism in 2003 I only recall it being regurgitated as fact towards the end of the decade. Perhaps a researcher did stumble across his blog, and the Impossible pictures lot are notorious for taking unconventional hypotheses and running with them (25 metre Liopleurodons cough cough). Then again, the Pterosaurs in this didn't suck blood so much as tearing people apart like piranhas. I guess we may never know what caused them to come up with the Anurognathids in this episode, perhaps is was Peters, perhaps they came up with it independently. Still, an interesting possibility.

      Oh okay, didn't know it wasn't that famous already back then. It could indeed have been something different that made them design these.
      Anyway, keep these kinds of reviews coming if you're planning to. I stumbled upon your channel yesterday and binge-watched them all, it was a funny evening.

    so concerned about accuracy, yet you can't tell what Oblivion is, i'll tell you, it's the game where strange portals open across the land linking the world to a mysterious unrecognizable landscape and also letting monstrous creatures into the world, but with MAGIC

    Wait, wasn't the Pteranodon a female in this episode? Cos if so, the crest is too big for a female. Nonetheless, this is a magnificent Pteranodon and I'm glad it became a recurring creature in the show.
    Also, you made up for the lack of a Nigel Marven cameo in the last review with three in this one? You spoil us XD

    I liked the juxtaposition of episode 2 and 5 at the end, never thought about how many common things there were.
    Once again (I am not sure if you read my comments in the order of the episodes, probably not), you are a little bit too condenscending of the creatures. The quadrupedal launch theory DID NOT EVEN EXIST in 2006/2007. It would be like complaining that they have a Dracorex when it should just be a juvenile Pachycephalosaurus.
    It's acceptable to call out the oversized arachnids because the Megarachne thing was resolved years prior. But you're getting into the worst kind of nitpicks, the ones that only work now in hindsight.

      Originally the expression had meant as a joke in Medicine and in common Science , meaning the developed concept came from wrong assumptions about a situation
      Having had an interest in Medieval Latin really has advantages :)

    2:39 Wait a minute. If Pteranodons eat fish and smaller animals, then why would they it attacked a man that was too big for its diet? In reality, pterosaurs are not highly aggressive creatures and their natural habitat is a rocky shoreline which is a good place to feed on fish.
