I always pack mints or gum for my flight. The in-flight bag is a great idea ! Ty
Hi
@user-gy2hg2mk4g. So glad to help!
I pack a plastic grocery type bag in my personal item bag; or in my jeans pocket - to put my personal item bag in because the floor of the plane is sometimes pretty disgusting!
Hi @RoZaly-lm8ge, that is a good idea if you want to keep your personal items on the floor. I like packing those things in my 1-gallon silicone bag and putting it in the seat pocket in front of me. The bag can be wiped clean and it all fits into my personal item bag at the end of the trip. This is all just a matter of personal preference, of course. :)
@Rozaly-Im8ge, that is very helpful information.
@@user-mq5kx2se2q Thanks you so much!!
@theressa4017 Thank you for your kind words!
Hello! Can a non liquid item go in to the Liquids bag?
Eye shadows and brushes.
Wow, counting neck pillows as an item!! I have been considering getting a travel vest like ScottEVest. I typically put items in a coat and or jacket that I’m carrying sometimes I’m wearing a hoodie and a coat. They both have pockets that zip. I love that backpack. I have one just in a different color and it’s a workhorse. I’ve taken it on two trips so far.
That backpack is my new fave! It's already seen 2 trips and I am about to take it on another.
I agree with the gal below. I also pack a small white trash bag to put my pocketbook or personal item bag in when it has to go on the nasty floor. I use white because it's easier to see inside.
Hi @SusanMcBrayer, it's always good to keep your belongings as far away from the floor as you can, so I would agree.
Well done!!!
I am planning to take a sleep sack because I hate sleeping on sheets in places that are not mine! I have always carried a double sheet that I use in my sleeping bag which I've slept in on a bed on a domestic trip, but they have light sleep sacks (like the old youth hostel days!) for plane travel!
Hi @secretariatgirl4249 ! That is a great item to add to this bag. Thanks for sharing that idea with us!
This is the second video I have watched and, again, I like your style. I am gobsmacked' ,- ( Brit speak for amazed). How on earth do that many items fit under the seat and where do you put your put your feet? I am gathering information as flying with only carry on is new to us. Thanks for all the advice
Hi @margaretgreene1929! I grew up between the US and Ealing, London, so LOL..gobsmacked it is! The key to everything is organization. I'm so glad you found this video useful. I have an upcoming vid on two little backpacks that were designed for Ryanair. I think they could be of help to you, so keep an eye out for them. Btw, I was in your neck of the woods just recently visiting the family and we took Easyjet to Portugal as a side trip.
I have a 17" x 10"x 13" "Dr Berg" duffle type bag that I use for 8 day cruises, 8 day in Aruba, weekend trips to pensacola. I pack very light and just what i need. The best part is that it fits under the airline seat. Well except for Deta Boeing 757-200. They have almost no under seat space. In the case I get it gate checked.
Hi @PickledHam. I'm not sure which bag you are talking about and I am very interested. Do you have a link to the bag you are referring to?
@@PerriesPassport It was a promotional item I received at one of his Keto conference. lots of room inside, front zippered pockets and separate wet area that I use for dirty clothes. It has a shoulder strap but no wheels. Sometimes I cram like 40lbs inside and kinda heavy to lug around. so I bought a small wheeled trolley from walmart to push it around. At TSA the trolley folds up and fits neatly inside the duffel bag. Its amazing that its still personal item size and fits under the seat.
@@PickledHam I used to have those wheel trolleys when I was using duffle style bags, and before the advent of what we now call carry on luggage (hope I didn't give my age away, LOL). I love to hear about creative ideas to everyday problems and yours was a great one!
Thank you for another great video! Regarding the new personal item rules, it's actually nothing personal, just business! )))
Hi @MrBadVlad! First off, thanks for your kind words and second LMAO Re: it's actually nothing personal, just business! ))). Best laugh of the day and very true!
Your pill packing idea is great, however, if you are traveling outside of the US (especially Heathrow) they are very strict about medications they need to be in original containers and if they are prescribed they need to have the prescription with it.
Hi @traceyrusthoven2097. That has never happened to me in Heathrow, with the exception of my epi pen, which I keep in its box, and I go there at least 2-3 times a year. Did this happen to you and in what countries?
@@PerriesPassport Yes at Heathrow I had my vitamins in a pill container like yours I ended up having to throw them out
Hi@@traceyrusthoven2097 That is so odd. I have never had that happen and I have had my meds and vitamins for years in that container. Now I'm going to look up their policy on meds and see if that is an official policy. Thanks for that info!
@@traceyrusthoven2097 I just checked here: www.gov.uk/hand-luggage-restrictions/essential-medicines-and-medical-equipment#:~:text=Ammunition-,Medicines%2C%20medical%20equipment%20and%20dietary%20requirements,it's%20essential%20for%20your%20journey and apparently if you keep your prescription receipt you're good to go. Vitimines I am not so sure of. But again, this has never happened to me.
@@PerriesPassport thank you. I have never had an issue with prescription meds, just my vitamins
Isn’t eyedrops supposed to be in liquids bag? Great video
Hi @veemercer1698, yes they are and another good catch. 👍👍 I do abide by the liquids rules, but I forgot what was in the bag since both my toiletry bag and the seat bag are always ready to go, which is a great stress reducer. Sorry about the confusion.🤷♀🤷♀
Regarding the new rule about personal items, what will they do to a vest with many, many pockets, and each pocket is full of stuff?
Hi @pandarush. They do not, and companies like SCOTTeVEST make jackets and coats with loads of pockets. I am in the process of researching less expansive choices. But the rule is if it is a garment and you are wearing it, it's allowed.
@@PerriesPassport i’m gonna subscribe after this because your content was interesting and I want to find out what you find out about ScottEVest alternatives! I recently went to Europe for the first time for three weeks I considered purchasing one, but didn’t is already spent a lot for each trip. I did take the time to look for them in a few thrift stores, but I did find!
Hi @@laureljaneg Thank you so much for your kind words. Those vests are great, but they do cost a lot. I'm looking forward to sharing what I have found. They are worth it though if you do travel a lot since the airlines have found so many ways to upcharge us in the last 3 weeks!
I’m going to subscribe after this video. Very informative.
Hi@@yvettewilliams5967! Thank you so much. I'm so glad you found it informative!
I see you have reviewed both a backpack and a Bento-type bag as your personal item bag. What do you see as the advantages and disadvantages of each one? Which type do you prefer? (I usually travel with a carry-on bag only.)
Hi @susanwexler6983 I like them both, especially since I don't have to carry the backpack on my back (they both have a trolly passthrough). You can use both as a personal item, but I think that the Bagsmart bag is better for packing clothing for a trip, and the backpack is a true personal item. I hope that helps!
Thanks for your reply. I need a new personal bag or backpack and I'm trying to decide which one to choose.
@@susanwexler6983 The personal item bag is also dependent on the airline you'll be using. Some only allow very small bags. Check your airline personal item allowances
@@PerriesPassport Good point! I'll do that!
Consider looking into the Samantha Brown To-Go 3 Ways to Wear Convertible Tote. Wow. And you can carry as a hand bag, a back pack or cross body. Lots of organization. Happens to be on sale today on HSN.
I have the Bento v4 and I prefer my Samantha Brown Essential Carry-All bag.
Where do you pack your makeup items
Hi @pamelagoodson9034 ! In my toiletry bag! The bottom is for liquids and the top is for my makeup.
Why do you have liquids in your silicon bag and not in your liquids bag?
HI @Angelika.W, there are only two items that I keep in my liquids bag that I transfer out of it after the TSA, and that is the Tide pen and the hand sanitizer. I just didn't show that in the video, but you are very astute! Well done!
@@PerriesPassportand toothpaste, moisturizer, Vaseline, nose spray, eye drops. Did I forget something?
@@Angelika.W As I explained, all those things are in my liquids bag, before and since both are packed on top, I transfer the items I need.
Not all toilet papa er is created equal. For cruise ships, for example, they use a special toilet paper that will decompose better and not clog up the system. Toi;et paper brought in the stores are different. I wonder if this is the same for airport lavatories. In any case toilet paper and nose tissues are not the same and toilet tissue should not be used in toilets ever.
Hi @ramonanussbaum. Yes, you are correct that toilet paper and tissues are not the same, but you can flush tissues on the plane since it all gets "flushed" (it's really done by the compression on the plane, hence flushing doesn't work when the plane is on the ground). I didn't know about cruise ships, so that is good info. Thanks!
Seriously....... a neck pillow?!
Hi @elmrkm. There is no neck pillow in the pack.
@@PerriesPassportI meant the airlines counting a neck pillow as a personal item.
@@elmrkm Ah! Insanity!! It's another way to make money. They are also counting blankets, so that they can charge you for one on the plane, and they are not washed daily says my flight attendant friend (which is why I bring mine now)
I’m confused…why do so many items you are not going to use on the plane go into this bag? The extra clothes, your tech and valuables make perfect sense, but an extra purse…a selfie stick? Shouldn’t those extra items be in your suitcase? I personally try to make the personal bag as light as possible so I don’t have to drag something heavy around the airport. Perhaps it is for weight distribution?
HI
@kellyc1578. I am presuming that you have packed your carryon to max and these odds and sods can go into the personal bag. My backpack has a trolly passthrough, so I never really carry it, and the little that I have, it's on my back. With the new regulations with what is considered a personal item, I make sure that this one does max duty. I guess it is a personal choice, at the end of the day.
Use tissue and case problems with the toilet, very idiotic
