Very good gf bf dynamic. There will be a lot of comments with all sorts of crap. Dont listen most of them. Important bit is learning and having a good laugh doing it. The video was really fun and entertaining. Happy holidays from Estonia.
Don't worry too much about the ticking noise, if it shuts up after a few seconds, it's just because the oil has ran out of the tappets (especially after it has been sitting for a couple months), when it stays, I'd say the car stays on the driveway, then it's time for a new chain first
Sorry another tip when putting the oil in drop car down on floor first before refilling so you get the right amount in sorry if you did do this can't help myself as i used to fix cars im a armchair critic lol and like trying to help 😊
No need to apologise mate! any advice is welcome its all a learning process, i cant remember if i did that when we put the oil in but i know it was definitely level when we checked it in the end the final time
I would invest in a trolley jack as the jack that came with the car aint good to use when the car gets older the sills can go through somtimes or worst case scenario the body can twist due to the age of car anyhow a good trolley jack s good investment as you can jack the car somewhere structurally sound 😀
I have actually invested in a good trolley jack since this video, i agree its just not worth the risk using the little dodgy one, thanks for the tip mate
I just spoke to my dad and he reckons it was maybe the tappets drained back because it was sitting so long, it doesn’t make that noise when starting now
@paddyici6629 appreciate that mate, it had been sat for probably 4 months before starting that and didn’t make that noise at all after the first start up
I’d stay away from bosh stuff now. It’s crap. Go for Mann for filters. Even audura stuff has been great for me. Their brake pads and discs are brilliant for the money. Stay away from brembo too. It’s not the quality it used to be. Spark plugs the same. Bosh are absolute garbage these days. Go NGK
Yeah the quality isn’t the same as it used to be with a lot of things, I feel like they built a name for being quality and now rely too much on the name whilst cheaping out, cheers for the info
Yeah it was owned by an elderly lady before and then a guy I know from work for a couple of months, no idea when it was last serviced but seems like it did it a world of good at the end!
Yeah you’re right there, I’ve seen some people refer to a service as just the oil and filters + check a few things though so what we did felt more major than that 🤷♂️
@@HodgeAutomotive it's a basic engine service nothing major, but good to see people learning the trade at home and your girlfriend deserves a pat on the back it's good to see women wanting to learn this stuff, i was in the trade for 20 years before becoming a fabricator/welder
Yeah it was all her saying she wanted to get involved with it herself so FairPlay to her, I really want to have a go at welding/fabrication, I’ve done a bit of welding before but none of it good haha

Appreciate the genuinely nice comment mate, happy holidays to you too 👍🏻
Great video folks, loved the dog helping out 🐶 😀
He’s a good little helper 😂 haha
@ a good boy 😃
When removing a battery undo the negative first then positive and opposite when putting a battery on put the positive then negative
Thank you, I knew there was an order but couldn’t remember, I guess it doesn’t matter if you’re careful to not let it touch the body of the car

Jack stands is something you don’t want to cheap out.. unless you don’t value your life
Loves them cold start revolutions 😅😅😅😅😅
Lovely dog 🐕 ❤️
The title was misleading i ended up learning about cars 😂
Gotcha 😂
Either I’m actually hilarious or you edited me to be that funny💀
You’re just that hilarious.
You have a great laugh and you are funny great video @hodgeautomotive come from the bearded mechanic

please use a better jack mate they are called widow makers for a reason those ones haha
Thanks mate, already got a better one in the next video! Haha had been meaning to get one for a while
after watching the newer vid then coming back and seeing you jacked the car up by the same mounts you had to replace... wonder why they failed it LOL
The rubber/plastic parts are inserts into a cast suspension arm? Doesn’t have anything to do with jacking it up on them 😂
Sorry made a suggestion without reading the comments lol the widow maker comment couldn't be a truer statement 😊
That will need a timing chain. 👍
Oh yeah? It’s only on 56k miles
@@HodgeAutomotiveroverturbo is correct. That’s definitely a timing chain rattle
Edit. I take it back. Sounds much better.

It failed!!!..lol.. why?
A few reasons 🙄 next video will explain everything!
@@HodgeAutomotiveit failed 3 months ago. 😂
@@johng7304yeah it’s taken a while to edit the video 😂
@@HodgeAutomotiveclearly not easy knocking videos out as some RUclipsrs make it look
@johng7304 not at all mate, the editing process has been a BIG learning curve, hopefully I’ll get quicker with time

That's a mini service, not a major service, major service includes changing all fluids and break components
