I have a theory that I just made up. (A theory that goes somewhat along with your comment) This (Subaru’s death) would be more impactful if he didn’t return by death. That is true, but it might not be at the same time. That’s why my theory comes in this Subaru’s death would have been more impactful because the characters in here will remember Subaru’s death; (Subaru dying so beatulgease can’t take over his body) and respect his death. There are two ways that Subaru’s ability will work that I have come up with. 5e first way is that when Subaru dies, everything rewinds and goes to the point before Subaru’s death. Nice and simple. The second way is a bit more complicated. The second way is, Subaru dies in timeline A, and Subaru returns by instead of timeline A, he returns but in timeline B, but allowing timeline A to go on after Subaru’s death (Kinda like D4C if you read JJBA steel ball run) if Subaru’s ability is the second way, it would be just as impactful if Subaru didn’t have that ability for the other characters. But us (the viewers) won’t be able to see timeline A after Subaru’s death. If Subaru’s ability is the first way, then anything that happens in timeline A after Subaru’s dea5, won’t be considered canon. :V

Subaru dies pretty horrible, because of Rem 2 times, but she has her own reasons for this Subaru smells like a witch's cultist, who made her suffer for a long time, so I may say killing him is kind of revenge Also Rem is supposed to protect the mansion, so when Subaru was doing smth suspicious she was doing her job First time he was walking in the mansion at night, second time he said that he leaving the mansion and go to somewhere new, but he didn't, he was actually watching them from the hill or what was it, so killing him was her job but when she understand that Subaru is a nice person, she start helping him, doing everything she can for him, even died so that he can live. in episode 16 when Crush asked her, was Subaru ever suspicious she lied, this proves that she believe him no matter what in episode 18 she didn't run away with him and when Subaru reject her, she understand him, she didn't scream or something like that, but she still love him and still want to save him so I think it's kind of cruel that she is gonna live her life, loving subaru and understanding that he love Emilia and he will do anything for, just like she for him but at the same time I think that she will be happy just seeing subaru happy and alive (sorry for bad English)
People keep mentioning Rem but things could have been different in other timelines, where Ram may love Subaru instead. 11 deaths are 11 different stories, if subaru survives in one of those deaths (the 4th death for example) well, Rem may not be the best girl anymore
Wonder what Emilia felt after finding out Subaru died. This episode was really tragic not only for Subaru but for everyone, well pretty much every time he dies it is really tragic. Emilia ever since she was born was treated as if she was a monster, because she looked like the jealous witch. In this episode when people looked at her as if they trust her, she was so overwhelmed that she cried. It was probably one of the happiest moments of her life, then right after that she hears the news about the death of the guy that made it all happen. Truly tragic.

The moment in the video - He watched as everyone there grieved for him, with Julius stating that he had wanted to be friends with him. 2. When he jumped off the cliff - Standing next to his dead body, an angry Ram tried to lash out at Beatrice but stopped when she saw that she was crying while kneeling next to his body. 3. When Pack froze the Roswaal Mansion [a.k.a episode 15] - Reinhard had confronted Pack after Subaru's death and killed him, but not before Pack mentioned that Reinhard could only become a hero. Once he had killed him, Reinhard commented that Felt would be sad. 4. First time he died/was killed by Elsa - Once Elsa had killed both of them, Pack appeared to take revenge, freezing the entire area. 5. When he was killed by Rem [in episode 5] - After hearing that Rem had killed Subaru, Emilia cut ties with Roswaal, slapping him when he called her actions a tantrum. She then had Rem guide her to his dead body as she had decided to bury him in Elior Forest.
yes, spoilers : beatrice is an artificial spirit and had made a contract with subaru in tht episode where he tried going against the curse. She really appreciates subaru alot and even showed a little of it in the movie.

He beats the shit out of him to prove Subaru's useless. Then next time he sees subaru, Julius learns he played an integral role in defeating a 400 y/o threat. Then (iirc) Subaru even apologises for what he said at the capital. That must have been a WTF moment. Then he watches as Subaru, who he proved to be useless with his own hands, fought bravely alongside him against the Witch Cult. They banter in a friendly depreciating sort of way. This defiance of expectation showed Julius that Subaru was a much better person than he was lead to originally believe. Then he _resisted Petelgeuse and told Julius to kill him_. In that moment, Julius knew Subaru was dead serious, and seeing this self sacrifice come from Subaru, in order to save lives, was too much for him. He knew that it must be done to save everyone else, but also knew that a man willing to do that is worth more alive. He knew in that moment, if not earlier, they would have gotten along quite well, and he knew he would be bearing regret and shame for that moment, because he wished he could have found a way to keep Subaru alive. Felix is just as sad in that moment too. For different reasons and since this question's about Julius I won't go into Felix's view on Subaru's death in that moment.

I never really knew why I saw this as a really emotional scene until I watched it again. Those four last hits of Stay Alive (the music) and Emilia turning to the forest was immaculate.
At this point if you realized that are 2 person that survived all of this and remembered all of the events. One Subaru, and us, im sure that Nagatsuki Teppei the original writer and the director literally trying to get the audience pov as close to the characters and story, witness the events, we feel some of subaru's feel. For me this is one of the great things about this series

I have imagined myself in similar situations. I'd be terrified of Rem and probably never forgive her for mutilating and torturing me if I were in the same spot. The fact that Subaru even LOVES her-and the fact that she loves him after being so ready to kill him from the word go- after the shit she put him through early on is incomprehensable to me.

I'm a Web Novel reader, and up till now I always remember these deaths and wonder, will everyone else ever know what Subaro has really been through? And how would they react? Would they feel pity? Would they be disgusted? Would they love him more... That's a golden plotline, I hope Tappei makes it justice

but when she understand that Subaru is a nice person, she start helping him, doing everything she can for him, even died so that he can live.
in episode 16 when Crush asked her, was Subaru ever suspicious she lied, this proves that she believe him no matter what
in episode 18 she didn't run away with him and when Subaru reject her, she understand him, she didn't scream or something like that, but she still love him and still want to save him
so I think it's kind of cruel that she is gonna live her life, loving subaru and understanding that he love Emilia and he will do anything for, just like she for him
but at the same time I think that she will be happy just seeing subaru happy and alive

Wonder what Emilia felt after finding out Subaru died. This episode was really tragic not only for Subaru but for everyone, well pretty much every time he dies it is really tragic. Emilia ever since she was born was treated as if she was a monster, because she looked like the jealous witch. In this episode when people looked at her as if they trust her, she was so overwhelmed that she cried. It was probably one of the happiest moments of her life, then right after that she hears the news about the death of the guy that made it all happen. Truly tragic.

Since people are talking about how sad moments like this are and what happened after Subaru died, I found a reddit post talking about what happened after he died (LN/WN spoilers btw) also credit to u/Nzrazor
They don't actually show what fully happened, just bits and pieces of what Subaru saw and it doesn't show every death.
1. The moment in the video - He watched as everyone there grieved for him, with Julius stating that he had wanted to be friends with him.
2. When he jumped off the cliff - Standing next to his dead body, an angry Ram tried to lash out at Beatrice but stopped when she saw that she was crying while kneeling next to his body.
3. When Pack froze the Roswaal Mansion [a.k.a episode 15] - Reinhard had confronted Pack after Subaru's death and killed him, but not before Pack mentioned that Reinhard could only become a hero. Once he had killed him, Reinhard commented that Felt would be sad.
4. First time he died/was killed by Elsa - Once Elsa had killed both of them, Pack appeared to take revenge, freezing the entire area.
5. When he was killed by Rem [in episode 5] - After hearing that Rem had killed Subaru, Emilia cut ties with Roswaal, slapping him when he called her actions a tantrum. She then had Rem guide her to his dead body as she had decided to bury him in Elior Forest.

Subaru defied all his expectations. Julius was insulted by how Subaru framed the knights of lugunica in the royal hall. He beats the shit out of him to prove Subaru's useless.
Then next time he sees subaru, Julius learns he played an integral role in defeating a 400 y/o threat. Then (iirc) Subaru even apologises for what he said at the capital. That must have been a WTF moment. Then he watches as Subaru, who he proved to be useless with his own hands, fought bravely alongside him against the Witch Cult. They banter in a friendly depreciating sort of way.
This defiance of expectation showed Julius that Subaru was a much better person than he was lead to originally believe. Then he _resisted Petelgeuse and told Julius to kill him_. In that moment, Julius knew Subaru was dead serious, and seeing this self sacrifice come from Subaru, in order to save lives, was too much for him. He knew that it must be done to save everyone else, but also knew that a man willing to do that is worth more alive. He knew in that moment, if not earlier, they would have gotten along quite well, and he knew he would be bearing regret and shame for that moment, because he wished he could have found a way to keep Subaru alive.
Felix is just as sad in that moment too. For different reasons and since this question's about Julius I won't go into Felix's view on Subaru's death in that moment.
I simply love how the ed starts playing, makes it that more emotional.

One Subaru, and us, im sure that Nagatsuki Teppei the original writer and the director literally trying to get the audience pov as close to the characters and story, witness the events, we feel some of subaru's feel. when you die, people will miss you, right? well, let's pretend that subaru never returns by death in this death. this story goes on. rem will miss subaru. emilia will miss subaru. felis will miss subaru. sure, in some of the times when he dies, puck or satella (not sure) has destroyed the world lol. but, remember the time when rem died overnight because she protected subaru and then he jumped off a cliff because ram was going to kill him? or the time when rem killed subaru? or the multiple times when subaru got somehow killed while sleeping in the mansion where lia and rem and ram and beatrice live? there's a lot of... let's say worlds, for every time subaru does return by death, and in some of those worlds, there is people who miss him. so, this is kind of sad. because, they got so far, until... this. let's go off topic for a sec. i'm glad that his new 'checkpoint' is after rem's love confession. the reason i'm glad is, because in every 'world' the other characters often act different than the last time. for example, that kinda clown looking dude leaving the mansion. oh shit i'm bad at coming up with examples or explaining things. anyway, if rem wouldn't have said that in the next 'world', it wouldn't have maybe been so beautiful and meaningful and kinda emotional. however, if only subaru wouldn't have said that he loves emilia, there wouldn't be a million videos with the title 'I LOVE EMILIA' lol.
