Pleased to make your acquaintance via Wes' site. Spent several years in Colorado Springs, with occasional trips to places you visited. Fun memories! Glad you got to enjoy your trip anyhow! Kent
You couldn't have broken down in a better place. Wes is one of the best mechanics and troubleshooters I've come across. His work ethic is second to none.
Listen everyone, this is the American dream right here! Being a honest blue collar father who takes care of his family and fixes his problems himself. Awesome buddy glad you guys are safe
More like, dig-drive-diy- and positive mental well-being channel. I love you guys! This is some of the most wholesome and kind content on YT at the moment.
Wes shifted me, and probably several folks your direction-within minutes, I knew I’d discovered some more folks I wanted to know a bit more about. I look forward to watching your videos and learning about the things you’re interested in doing and sharing? ✌🏻
That "tow truck driver", needs to find a job he can handle, if he doesn't know to disconnect the drive line before towing anything with an automatic transmission! It's great to know Good People, Wes is one of them for sure. Glad your vacation turned out as a memorable occurrence.
Neil a jeep would've been more than welcome when I was a kid. We went from Cleveland Ohio to McAllen Texas which amounts to 24 hrs in a Buick Lesabre and those are some of my best memories of vacation across the USA. You're all good man, it's what it's all about!
Neil, many years ago, my folks and two brothers and I were on vacation from central New Mexico to eastern Pennsylvania, and we were driving a dodge van with a trailer behind, and my mom was driving, got into a bad stretch of highway in St. Roberts, Mo. My mom drifted a bit to the right in her driving and the shoulder dropped off abruptly. She tried to get back on the road, oversteered, and flipped the van, and it got totalled. My dad bought a 74 Buick, and we continued to our destination, and returned without any additional mayhem. It was not easy fitting 5 people in the car, but we did the best that we could. Needless to say, we lost most of our belongings on our trip as the van had flipped and burned. Making the best of things is sometimes all we can do.
Yes absolutely. Knowing that we wanted to do Pikes Peak was all the motivation I needed to get that break done. Surprisingly though, the manual transmission did great coming down the mountain. _Almost_ no brakes!
You really couldn't have picked a better place to break down if you'd planned it Neil! Happy anniversary and glad you all had a good vacation. Looking forward to seeing the diagnosis and repair on @WatchWesWork .
When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, just like you and your family did, it still looked like a pretty nice trip, glad you got the RV back and all is well.
Wes brought me here. Looked at your videos youve put out, liked what i seen, and now subbed. Hopefully more of Wes watchers come over to support your channel.
Neil, the money you saved on gas, you spent on accommodation. In the North we use screen on the rad, or a proper bug/summer front , or the rads would be well and truly plugged. Love the kittens. I watched Wes's channel first, as I have been following him for a few more years than you.👍 Take care, and best wishes from the far North.
Glad to have met you at Wes’s shop! I’m sad to hear that the tow driver didn’t remove the driveshaft, might have been a simple fix. Awesome to see that you were able to salvage the vacay, good times!
I've became a big fan of your channel from stumbling upon your pond build series. This led me to watching through a wide variety of your other videos as you're living every little boy's dream of operating dump trucks, heavy equipment, and working in the dirt. The interactions and relationship you have with your family are heart warming and you seem like a hell of a guy. The icing on the cake was the surprise MKIV Supra in this episode, an unexpected foray into my world. I couldn't help but smile when I saw it. Keep up the great work, Neil. I look forward to your videos each week and will continue watching through old episodes to get fully up to speed in the meantime.
Hey that's awesome to hear! Thanks so much for going back through the videos. That Supra is the fastest car I've ever ridden in, and that was about 500hp ago!. He has had it for over 20 years and he's now built it into a 1100hp, 9 second drag racer. dsportmag.com/the-cars/1168whp-supra-big-boost-high-powered-street-car/
@@digdrivediyMy pleasure, thank you for putting out the content. I hope you guys had a good time at Harlan Days. I'll have to read through the article. Skimming the photos, it looks like a very nice build. I'm glad to hear he's owned it for that long as well. I have a '94 Supra that I've built into a drag car and a '92 Lexus SC300 street car that I'm in the process of resurrecting. The Supra made a little bit over 1,200whp while the Lexus' power numbers are TBD. Both builds are documented/being documented on my channel. I'm in central Ohio - if you ever find yourself in this area and need any welding/fabrication work done, don't hesitate to reach out.
Neil, back in the 80's, I did security for a new industrial building on 19th street in Boulder, Co. One day after work, I headed up into the mountains right after work. It was a nice walk that day.
Just started following your channel recently when one of the pond build videos was recommended to me. But this one has to be my favorite so far! Isn't it reassuring to know that not one detail of your trip was unknown to God? Think of some of the "bonding" experiences you would have missed with your family if you had been in that spacious RV or had not stayed with family in Longmont. :) The video of the Estes Park & RMNP area made me feel homesick. I've been out in that area just about every summer since 1966, and when it gets sweltering back here in KC it makes me miss it even more. And welcome to Kansas. I've driven through a bug storm before and they are not fun. Really makes ya realize how an insect swarm can change things. I have family there in Hutchinson, and my dad grew up about an hour west of there, so I've traveled those roads many a time. And what a blessing to have a friend so close who could take in your wounded RV and make it right again. Who knows, maybe your "unplanned" vacation turned out better than your other one would have. :)
What was that on the walkway? Headless teen? Freaky Try Mount Washington in NH. NO edge, straight down.😮 Beautiful, thank you for taking us along. Thank you Wes and God bless you.
I came to your channel via Watch Wes Work. Not only is he a brilliant mechanic, who explains everything in a way that anyone can understand and learn all sorts of information from his explanation. Apart from anything with engines I have also seen Wes repair a washing machine, a welder, a generator, a milling machine etc. I hope the invoice included the following fees. Repair RV - double the cost, RV belongs to a RUclipsr - double the cost. RUclipsr assisting the repair - double the cost.
Hi Neil. You couldn't have picked a better place to break down! I watch Wes all the time and he cracks me up. Even on his second channel. What a great trip. You are so right in saying that there is a lot of good in the world if we stop to look for it. Sometimes it finds us even if we aren't looking for it. Glad everything worked out well. Thanks for the video! -mike
Being a QC native and a John Deere employee, I love that you stopped in the QC and filmed right next to the John Deere Pavilion! Hopefully you stopped in for a visit!
My wife would have wanted to call it quits too after the motorhome broke down. If she would have walked past that sign warning of rattlesnakes, she would have been sprinting for Kentucky and yelling over her shoulder for me to keep up.
When you tightened the ratchet strap on the toats you forgot to say “that’s not goin nowhere”. Perhaps the breakdown knocked you off your square…..thanks for making a simple travel video that wasn’t over hyped….just a nice family vacation

Thank you and the girls for sharing your vacation with us. The highs and lows. Glad yall had a good time and got to see some of our fantastic country. Thank you Wes and John for helping them out.
Wes is a great guy. You're lucky he was able to fit you in. And his wife is a lovely woman. Did you meet.'Pup'? Best regards from South Wales, UK. 🏴🇬🇧
I love how you are able to turn out so many obstacles in life to positives and smile on, thanks for bringing us along on your vacation and also a big thanks to Watch Wes work for making it all happen.
I know how you feel through experience. My RV had a catastrophic rear axel seizure after a $1 spring broke in a rear brake drum causing a brake shoe to rub on the drum. After driving 150 miles at 60 mph on a motorway to the Lake District in the UK the rubbing built up so much heat that it caused all the grease to run out of the bearings on both rear wheels locking them up completely resulting in a low loader trip to a garage where we spent a £1000 in repairs and the first three days of our vacation. In the following few days we then had a collapse of the RV's awning after torrential rain and then ripped both front tyres off a rental car after driving into the biggest pothole I've ever seen! Never again going on another RV vacation. As ever great video and hit the thumbs up on Watch Wes Works channel
I am, by nature, a person who finds gratitude in life. By every measure one could look at my life and say, “he’s got it all.” I’ve been very fortunate and I hope I’ve paid it forward time and again. But Neil, your spirit coupled with your beautiful family makes me even more grateful that I somehow stumbled upon your channel so I can find another source of beauty and gratitude in life. Thank you.
I've come to learn after 35 years, that Illinois can suck the fun out of just about anything. However, the kids won't forget this vacation. I remember loading into the car for cross county journeys with my folks... they were always fun.

One of the most white knuckled drives I ever did was Kansas City to Denver. By the time we hit Topeka we were in a blizzard. Withing an hour or so we were passing off ramps right before they were closing them. I had a new 1990 F 250 4x4 with a port fuel injected 460 in it with 33" Mud terrain tires. if there was a gas stating we stopped. It was a white out and every once in a while a tumble weed would blow across the front of the truck and it seemed like the end. I was physically wore out and stopped in Limon Colorado to get a room. Next day there wasn't a cloud in the sky. In 93 the year of the flood I was where the Missouri and the Mississippi meet. Road graders had literally cleared several feet of mud off the roads and the bugs were like small animals smashed om the windshield. The things we do while traveling...
I went to Colorado Springs in July 1986 for a little vacation. Went back to SD long enough to pack up my stuff and I've been here ever since. Thanks for sharing your trip with us and hope you enjoyed your visit!

Its not the trip its the memories and the people just like you said. What a wonderful story and so glad you shared it with us.
Way to look on the bright side, Neil! I love your attitude!
Good job salvaging the trip! Looks like you guys had a blast.
