Group 5 only had 2 page rulebook
it really does depend on when you looked, and what rules you were looking at. These rules were all of the rules, including how to race, appeal, and more
Oh my gosh you keep covering the cars that i feel are underrated in BeamNG. The fan car for the SBR4, the V16 for the Barstow, and now this. I love the Wendover for pretty much no reason at all, other than the dectective model, race model, and hillclimb model. Actually decent cars.
I think it's an interesting car, but I was kind of not looking for more fwd cars :/
if the wendover was RWD it would be the best car in beamng

Did you notice the timer jump when you crossed the line? I find it cool that even though the timer doesn't slow down graphically when you enter slow-mo, BeamNG still calculates dynamic times based on sim speed. So you could do an entire race at half-speed and the timer will suddenly half itself the moment you cross the line.
interesting, but I did a challenge once with the game at half speed, and it was hard to drive with, because it ends up just feeling like your cars have no brakes. That's because you feel like you're driving slow, but it takes so long to brake
@@fillman86 I've tried driving like that before and I agree, it is very trippy, but it was oddly fun trying to get used to it XD

yeah, it did feel very assetto corsa in its oddities. But these things only showed up after the gambler 500 update, so if they didn't make the whole car, one probably had something to do with that

I'm thinking of making a group 5 mod for the I-series, if the next update is out (so I ron't have too start all over when it's a remaster), I'm gonna make this my first mod. I've learned a lot from these videos, and you've inspired me to try the same. Keep on inspiring me and others!

I know a lot of engines use empties to snap to the frame, etc. and it makes modeling pieces of the model and snapping to the model a lot easier than “that’s as close as I can get so that’s good!” but is a pain in the ass to put into a beam mod, so I have great respect lol!
interesting, no other beamng car has used it, so maybe I'll consider it in the future for my mods
@@fillman86 I think the L19 Plane mod uses it, as well as some older mods. I like to model for X-Plane 12 and you have to use empties for a lot of your models because the engine uses them to create perfect seals with animations like your plane doors closing and opening, cargo hatches, etc.

the capri you were talking about was essentially a european mustang. they were very popular in the UK where I am and it is personally one of my favourite cars
oh, the fox body mustang was sold over there? that's wild, we never had it until like 2016
yeh they were some of the best cars in the UK and they are hella expensive now. they only ever went up to a 3 litre v6 im pretty sure@@fillman86

The widened body on this also reminds me of the mid 80s stock cars, it would be pretty cool to see you make a stock car version of a beam ng car, even if its something weird like a covet with a big carburated v8 (yes i know nothing like a covet has raced in stockcars, it would still be fun)
even I thought it was a little stock car like. Honestly I think a lot of IMSA cars of the time started using stockcar bodies

It was interesting to see an exploded view in Blender for a BeamNG vehicle! It does remind me of creating working drawings in Engineering CAD software 😯

Yo Fillman FYI it might be easier to find the rules on Trans Am of the same era. Virtually identical in terms of rules accept beyond 1988 non American and AWD was banned.
TA1 class also still uses a very very similar rulebook today which is neat

My fav car in BNG for the last couple of months has been a raised 4wd Wendover. I took the Gambler 500 model, added a 4.4L V8, stage 3 block, stage 2 supercharger, Meo's nitros, race brakes, race tires, radiator, oilpan. Puts out a flat 1000hp through a 6 speed geared for 200mph. Take it out to East Coast map to do street jumping and racing.
I will be downloading your version and raising it and boosting it because I haven't been able to get the tires that wide.

I like love the Wendovers styling, and engine options. Also, you can convert it into RWD.
My least favorite thing about the Wendover's weight.
The Wendovers cousin, the LeGran (i assume similar platform) , is a bit lighter.
those are separate companies in the beamng lore
@fillman86 the wheelbase are basically the same, and they use the same engine models, and suspension models, least from what it looks like in game.
According to a wiki, Soliad is a subsidiary to Bruckell

I want you to upload you whole vehicles and mods folder to a google drive folder so we have access to your extensive library of builds. I don't know exactly how much you'd care about that sort of thing but I have 14gb of my buddies that I am compiling and uploading and it's been over 5 or so years so I think it's cool in a couple ways.

The car doesnt work for me anymore. it says the the engine is disabled and i tried to download the car again but, it still not working.
you're right, I fixed it though (they moved one bit of code, and that broke the mod) and it'll be available once it's approved (probably 2-3 days)

Now im no Beam modder, but wouldnt it have been easier to just copy the doors and adjust the weight while using the old door collision models rather than remaking them
less nodes = less weight, and losing weight was really hard

I'm not sure why you chose to use the V8. The Audi GTO had a turbocharged I5, so I would've gone with a turbocharged V6 in the Wendover. It would've made the horsepower figures quite a bit more believable than a NA V8.
if you can't make an NA race v8 in the 90s make that much power, then you're doing it wrong :P Also if you watch the whole video, you'll understand more. Mostly it was because of the weight limit (what I also cut was me talking about america's distain for turbos back then)
@@fillman86 There was no mention of a weight limit, only a weight minimum. The weight distribution of the car would've been better with a V6 anyway. America really didn't have much disdain for turbochargers during the 80s, that's more of a 70s thing. In fact, the 1980s is when we really started to see the turbo take off in things like the Turbo Trans Am, Buick Grand National, Ford Thunderbird, and Dodge Charger.
@@KeeganYF12 they were loathed at the time. The GNX turbo sold terribly, and a few didn't even sell, it also wasn't in nascar, but when it did compete in drag racing, it was often boo'd and lots of anti turbo rules were made
also all turbo performance vehicles sold poorly compared to their other counterparts, and is why they were rare until recently (and still usually not used)
PLEASEEEE look at doing some DTM mods
dtm in that era is kinda just touring cars, and those exist already

I still really want a Mid engine scintilla powered sun burst, ever since i saw that the B piller lined up perfectly with the firewall of the scintilla, and the wheel base was practically identical. But i hasnt the time to make one my self, and further more i have the coding skills of an ape. But maybe one day i will learn. Or i could harass RUclipsrs until the do it for me 🤷♂️
