Hello, super impressed by your video on Silver Glory. Do you keep it in full light? Do you keep it in that enclosure? Mine are not doing too well (curly leaves, slow growth etc.) Can you give more details on temperature, type of soil, light, humidity etc.? Thank you for this upload.
Hi! Thank you! I have a couple of different plants in different situations. My Silver Glory kept in my grow tent is doing the best, of course. High humidity, bright lighting, warm temperatures. Grows like a weed. The one that is kept in normal room conditions is growing as well but not as fast. It gets lower humidity and the lighting is not quite as bright. But the leaves are nicely open without any curling problems. I'm growing mine in Fox Farm ocean forest soil with added pumice, orchid bark and worm castings. This seems to work well for both plants. Normal room temp for me is around 65 at night to 72 during the day, humidity around 30%. Grow tent conditions are 80% humidity and 75 degrees during the day, 64 at night. Hope this helps :). Thanks for watching and lots of luck with your Silver Glory!!!!
Very interesting, before clicking on your video I watched a video about Merlin Monroe and decided, that I don't want to watch about her, and I opened your video randomly and I see her picture behind you!🤔
They are a great plant! There are a few different colors and it’s one of those plants that you have to collect them all because they are just that fabulous 😊.
New subscriber here from Connecticut. I was looking for new ideas on propagating my sting of hearts & found you. So definitely going to try you method. I also saw that you use soil for succulents. So going to get some of that.. Now on to binge watching your videos! 🤗
Hi Lisa! Thank you! The pot with the two plants is really thriving. It’s a favorite for sure. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching and commenting 😊.
Wow to your props from August....I have three varities and the standard S of Hearts does the best for me....but none that are super long and full yet...I recently repoted all three of my plants and hopefully they take off this spring! Like your prop box too! And yes your new plant is such a cutie...love the pot and it will be nice to see the combo...I have not seen anyone do a combo before!! Love the wire pins you made!! Always enjoy your videos and you always do a nice job!! Love from MN thanks for all the tips and tricks......
Thanks Tina!!!! My VSOH mother plant was a nice full pot but I actually prefer a smaller pot! I think it’s because when they are larger, it’s incredibly difficult to keep the vines from tangling up and becoming a big mess. It’s more manageable for me, and less stressful for me, when they are smaller 😊. I’m so glad you are enjoying my videos ☺️. You are such a sweetheart. Thanks for watching 💚💚💚.
Hi, Grace! Thank you! I do water them initially, and then after that, not very frequently since they tend to stay quite moist in the greenhouse environment. If I see and feel that the top soil is dry, then I go ahead and water. Maybe that ends up being only once per month or even longer depending on the time of year. Summer is more frequent than winter like with most plants. Thanks for watching and commenting 💚.
I would google it to be 100% certain but I think it would be completely fine. The string of hearts is a succulent and I think it would love it in your zone!
I saw your Marilyn picture in the background. I'm a huge Marilyn Monroe fan too! 😊 I have the same two string of hearts. My question is how do you water the propagations? Mine always rot or dry up. No matter what I try. I've tried botton water. If i sprits or use the sqeeze bottle they rott. I've gotten the dry up rott combo too. I've kept both plants alive so far I just can't propagate.
I’ve been a fan since my high school days. That poster hung in my childhood bedroom. I’m so happy I still have it 😊. So with my SOH propagations, I keep them in high humidity while growing out. So the soil stays moist all the time. I never let them completely dry out. I could see it being difficult if you are trying to grow them out in normal room conditions. Try setting the pot in a ziplock bag under high light if you don’t have a cabinet or grow tent. Hope this helps 😊.
@ThePinkTrellis I'm happy you have the picture too! I had pictures since I was a teen hanging on my wall. I lost them in a burglary of all things. I don't know if they thought they were valuable or they were a fan too. I've replaced a few through the years but would love to have my originals. Back to plants. 😁I'm just learning the prop box so I'll try some in there. I'll also try the zip lock. Both my SOH are significant in size so I've got plenty to play with. Thanks for the info!
Hi! You will find that you won’t have to water very often. In an enclosure, like a prop box, it stays pretty wet. I would just water if the top of the soil looks/feels dry.
The prop box is on a shelf under grow lights and it has a built in ventilation window (two of them at the top) where you can adjust how much fresh air you want to get in the box. I would link it for you but I found it locally.
I've tried this method before and it's hit or miss. Does the node part of the cutting need to be touching the soil? That seems to be the most difficult part for me to get right if that's the case. I secure with bobby pins from the Dollar Tree. And why must there be a part of the stem at each end? I'd love to know how the comibination pot turned out. It looked so cute even without any growth 😊.
Hi! It does need to be touching the soil. I leave some stem on either end of the node just to have in order to more easily pin it down into the soil. I think very importantly the newly propagated plant should be kept in a humid (at least 30-40%) and bright location. I’ve never failed with this method. The combination pot is doing great! I wish I could post a photo here. If you go to my Instagram page there is a more recent photo posted there. My Instagram is @thepinktrellis. Thanks and I hope this helps clarify more for you 😊.
@@ThePinkTrellis Am smiling! You replied so quickly that I was still watching one of your other videos. I wonder if you are able to update a previous video and add an "after" a couple of months later, in a case such as this, where it would be nice to see the results all in one place. I didn't do a humidity dome in my previous attemps with string of hearts but will definitely do so now. I'm inspired to propagate!
@@sbffsbrarbrr unfortunately adding to a an already published video isn’t an option. It would be cool if it was! Thanks for watching my videos!!!! And definitely try the humidity dome 😊.
@@sbffsbrarbrr Hi! I just posted an update of this String of Hearts propagation on my latest video today 6/26/22. In case you are still interested in seeing how it's doing :).
@@christinamarie5141 I had to watch it again to see what you are talking about and got sucked in watching the whole thing lol. It is repetitive but I didn’t think it was too loud. It’s a soft tune. This was one of my first videos and I don’t do my music like that anymore 🙃. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!! Have a great day 😁.
I use sphagnum moss with a lot of my propagating but never with SOH. I feel like it would be too tedious switching it over to soil once it’s established with a root system. But maybe not.
@The Pink Trellis I learned this butterfly technique and have used it and what I have found to be successful and easy is to pot up the butterflies with soil as the base and a layer of moss on top of the soil, then the cuttings laid out on top of the moss. Then you never have to transfer the growing cuttings over to another media, they just root into the (kept damp) moss then into the soil below. Fun! And I have my last SOH prop I did that way, haven't had to repot it yet, couple years on.....keeps it simple, and the moss keeps the soil from getting all over the little cuttings, a real solution. ❤
Hi, Dee A! I appreciate the feedback. It was really difficult for me to get a closeup of the cutting, plus this was one of my very first videos, pretty new to the game at that point. I tried really hard to give a great video on how to successfully propagate. Sorry it didn't live up to your expectations. But thanks for watching and commenting. All the best to you :).
Wow! I’m so impressed….I’ll be propagating mine later today … thanks 😊
Thanks! Have fun!

Would you mind linking the grow light you use in your bedroom? I’d like to get one for my string of hearts 💕 ty
These are the ones I use on the shelves:

Where do u keep the prop box and do u open it or u keep it completely closed

I have found this method works well for me. However when I propogate my varigated SOH it tends to lose the varigation on it and not sure why.
That’s interesting! I haven’t had that happen, although once in awhile I’ll get a reverted strand but it doesn’t happen often.
