I'm in Canada too and you are correct...one does not simply just find variegated String of Hearts. I had to ask a friend to pick one up for me the other day. And he thankfully did it, but asked can't you just buy it from Walmart? LOL um no but if I go anywhere and find them I'm spending a lot of money to get them. 😂
😂 I died when you said ‘I’m so sorry’ to your plant after tipping them out! That’s so me. I hype mines up and will them to grow lol yep, I love plants more than people!
My fellow Canadian plant friend! Glad I found this video thank you! 😊 I just purchased a 3’ pot with 4 trailing vines 🤣 Im going to have soltech grow lights up as soon as my painting is done! Never had grow lights before lol. Im hoping with them on a shelf and the extra light they will grow well. I’ve heard conflicting information on how much light these guys like? Where are yours placed? I have a south facing window with a overhang so it doesn’t get direct sun from wall I place my shelves on, do you think this will be ok? with extra light of course from grow light later..
I didn't see this comment until now! How's your setup going? I think they would handle the full light of a grow light just fine. I wouldn't put it directly in front of a south facing window, but pulled back a few feet I think it would do great!
@@desertplantdiarist4822 hmm that’s the only place I can can bright indirect light in my living room.. the leaves are a bit soft though and not hard like they should be., 😩
I keep it on until I see a decent amount of growth. Then once it's fairly established I'll start weening it off the humidity by taking the bag off for a few hours each day, and then remove completely
I water thoroughly once a week when the soil is dry! When you're just starting out rooting the cuttings on top of the soil you can mist it when it's dry, that might help keep them from drying up. For the ones that rot, are you putting a Ziploc/some sort of humidity dome over top?
In my experience it can take variegated string of hearts a while to root, and I find that often the plant will put out new growth before rooting. Using a ziploc bag to increase the humidity in this method really helps encourage root growth, so I'd say after about a month or so you should have some roots forming. I hope these tips help :)
Hey I have a question, did you mist them regularly after putting the bags over them or did you just water them monthly? I’ve been misting like every other day but I noticed some of the leaves yellowed so I don’t know if I’m doing to much? 😩
@@ukulechi1045 I just water monthly! having the bag over top creates a greenhouse effect and will lock in moisture/keep the plant very humid, no need for misting too :)
Bottoms up!
💕 😘 love it
Takes a shot, and begins to talk!! My type of intro
For me it's the... Drops the camera, takes a shot, says 'yuck' then gets into it. It's the stuff of legends
I tried this method two weeks ago, and I'm seeing new baby growth already! thank you!
I'm so excited to hear that! Awesome job 😁
What soil did you use, what mix and thank you
Girl! That shot at the beginning of the video made me hit that subscribe button before you even started talking. 🤣
So glad you liked it 😂 should hopefully be back with new videos soon!

I drop my plants way too often 😂😅
I hit subscribe as soon as she threw back that shot and went right into why we are all here
here for a good time 😂
So for your regular VSOH in the white container- when you cover it with the Ziploc, do you just leave the Ziploc on it?? When do you take it off?
I would just take it off to water it. After a few months when it had some good growth I just left it off 😊

💕💕💕💕💕
How long will you keep the plastic on top? I got mine today
Yeahhh...how long till you take the plastic off?
I keep it on until I see a decent amount of growth. Then once it's fairly established I'll start weening it off the humidity by taking the bag off for a few hours each day, and then remove completely
Can we see the updated version?
Update coming soon!
Do you find that only wetting the soil once a week dries them out, I swear I can’t get mine to root, they either dry up or rot

Can you please tell how to do with this plant as soon as getting it from online delivery...
Thanks for sharing this method. I haven’t had good luck in propagating this succulent. How long does it take to root?

Will you update us on this propagation?!
I occasionally post updates in my instagram stories, but I'm planning on filming an update video in the next week or so!

I watered before planting 😁
Hello 😍

I overwatered my string of hearts and now it’s drying out and coming out the soil. Hope this helps
Hope it's helping ❤️
