I agree, you don’t need to turn off water. Thank goodness I saw this. helped me see exactly what step I wasn’t doing.made it so much easier to replace filter.
I almost broke my water filter slot thanks to this guy. You are supposed to twist the old filter counter-clock wise, until you can't turn it, in order to remove it from the filter slot. Otherwise, you WILL break your slot, trying to pull out the filter that's securely locked into the slot.
LOL, i just tried it today. same thing happened to me , I almost broke mine as well by doing what he said to FORCE it. It didn't feel right , so eventually i tried to TWIST the old filter counter-click wise like u said and i got it out safely. THANKS TO THIS GUY AS WELL!
@@joecar5112 glad you got it out safely! 👊 Sometimes, rather than listening to others, we gotta follow our own instinct when things don't seem right lol
Don't need to turn off water supply, as confirmed by official LG site. If not sure about your model I would say you are probably good if you can't dispense water when the door is open.
The Lg refrigerator that uses the LT1000P/PC/PCS... FOLLOW EACH STEP BUT WHEN IT COMES TO PULLING IT OUT YOU HAVE TO TURN IT COUNTER CLOCKWISE UNTIL YOU CAN PULL IT OUT!!! I almost broke my water filter trying to pull it out without turning it counterclockwise because it wouldn't come out so I knew it was a different process.
Right on. Those filters are twist-on. And there's a defect when removing the old filter that causes the inner core to turn and you can't insert a new filter. You're lucky if that didn't happen to you. Here's a guy that solves that problem. ruclips.net/video/5mgPSoJrxSw/видео.html
It would be very important to tell everyone to remove the top shelf of the fridge as it shows in this video. If you cannot get the old filter vertical you can NOT remove it. Took us half an hour to figure that out as trying to pull it out at an angle DOES NOT work!!!
Thank you for the important information in regards to removing the top shelf. We had the same problem until we removed the top shelf. Matter of 3 seconds it was off.
Steve made it look very easy and when it's time I feel I can do it myself. Thanks so much for instructing me on what I need to do. I really appreciate your help!😊
Thanks for this video 🍻 LG video said to twist left and that clearly wasn't happening. They're probably trying to get us all to break our fridge for additional repair work... Their junk compressor timed out perfectly, 2 months after free warranty replacement 🤬
My filter was behind the bottom shelf of the left door. Twist and pull. Only one drop of water. Water dispenses without the filter, which is fine since this is connected to our RO filter system.
I'm pretty sure I installed the new filter correctly, but when I try to dispense water the filter dislodges from the housing, water leaks. Has anyone else experienced this? Service tech coming this week.
Rick I had the same problem. I had inserted a non LG filter so I tried to then replace it with an LG filter still leaked. I ended up replacing the whole filter assembly to the tune of $400 GRRRR!
Some of the LG's have a flaw where the inner core becomes misaligned after removing the old filter. This happens on the LG's that have a twist on filter which my newer LG has. Here's a guy that solves that problem. ruclips.net/video/5mgPSoJrxSw/видео.html
No pulling the fridge out required here, pulling the filter down was, in my case it wasn’t completely down, found a jar a pickles was the issue, once relocated filter change went down. I can confirm, you don't need to secure the water and maybe two drips came out once I removed the filter. I DID have to remove the top shelf to remove the filter. The new filter box also recommended running the water for 4x gallons before drinking after the new filter is installed. Process is pretty simple.
Same here. My fridge uses the LT1000P filter, it's a little different, but it doesn't lock in. And I'm using a $35 LG brand filter, so I can't blame it on using aftermarket stuff.
My brother says they say change your water filters because it’s just a way for them to sell there product 🙄it’s been 7 months since he changed it.. is this true ? That you don’t need to worry about changing the filter 😊
You mean I have to move the fridge every time I replace the filter to turn the water off? This is poor design. My previous Whirlpool didn’t require any water shutoff when replacing filter.
I noticed that at 32 second mark where he shuts off the water, that the sheet rock wall must be full of water. You can see the water move at the bottom of the shut off valve box. I'm sure that was a jig they put together for this video but find it kind of funny if that would have been a real situation there would be a huge mold problem LOL.
So do you need to shut off the water first, or not? The LG user manual and filter instructions mentions nothing about shutting of the water, but the video on the official LG site says to shut the water off. Does it matter either way?
I didn't shut off my water and replaced the filter just fine. I know I'm answering a year later, but maybe someone else reading this might find it helpful.
LG has made it difficult to change filter since you have to pull refrigerator out to reach the water shut off, so basically you have to empty the refrigerator so it is not too heavy
I’ve pulled so hard on my filter the refrigerator has rolled out of its spot, I’m afraid of breaking something, haven’t changed it in years because of this, HELP,
The number on my lg refrigerator isn’t charging back to “0” after I replaced the filter. “6” is still there. I held the button down but it’s not changing
Probably means you haven't tilted the filter down far enough. Try removing the shelf so you can angle the filter down to about 45 degrees. Then it should unlock and pull right out.
Just swapped mine out. Did not turn off the water. My fridge only has an ice maker though. Don’t turn the filter upside down because it contains alot of water.
Our compressor went at 1 month shy of 7 years and it only cost $464 to replace it. If I hadn't had the receipt from when we bought it the price would have been about $1100 to replace the compressor. Not sure why so much more, my husband talked to him and dealt with it all while I was at work. But considering the fridge was $2500 new (on sale $1000 off - door-in-door) I was happy.
Ok yall are confusing me, counter clock wise or or straight out. Seems like everyyone has a different opinion. I tried both amd none worked , that thing feels like is cemented on there and i dont want to break it. Good thing i brought my brand new Samsung Fridge to this new home. I have it in the garage. Seems like this LG is going into the garage.
I cannot get the old filter out/0ff. Doesn't matter how hard I pull and twist it will not come out. I will likely break the dang thing which will cost me hundreds, then I'll refuse to EVER buy LG again. GERRRR....my 8th grade shop glass did not cover this situation so puleeze help (I'm 76).
SUCCESS....! My water filter cover was NOT all the way down. When I removed the little apple sauce cup from under the filter cover the filter came down and out like Betty Sue in high school. :). I bad.
Yea, thats why I just gave this video a thumbs down. My wife had me pulling out the fridge and then I was like, hold on, where did you say you got the instructions... yea... not LG

You might have twist-on filter that some LG's have. You can't just pull it out without twist left. CCW.
