I never thought of Xenon the way you described. We don't bat an eye at monochromatic browns, roses, purples, etc. I agree that Xenon is innovative and unlike anything we have seen before. You made me see it in a totally different light! THIS is why I am subscribed to you. Outstanding explanation you offered in relation to this palette.

For me the best palette of the year is certainly the Yucca! And I almost didn’t buy it because I have three green Melt palettes, and thought it was overkill on the green, but actually Yucca is a different tone of green. I wish Natasha Denona would release a forest green, midnight blue, and deep eggplant purple enchanted forest theme palette. I’d just drop to the floor!

Xenon for giving me something completely unique and missing from my current collection with amazing jaw dropping quality. Industrial for pushing me out of my comfort zone and exposing me to so many beautiful textures and colorways and the Byredo Remembrance Palette for the “I don’t have to think about it”reliable beautiful polished airbrushed looks no matter what combination I pick.

I am just sad there is no Viseart on the list 😅, no they may not be the shiniest disco ball, but they hold their own. With that said, I finally found a place to swatch I need a nude, and the colours did not go well on my skin tone. So I think I'll give in to temptation and get Xenon as my first full size ND.
(Not on the list but PM's Moonlit Seduction keeps growing on me, that one is a real hidden gem from last year that I keep returning to. Thank you for convincing me not to overlook it!)

SAME! If I could only keep one from 2023 it would be Industrial 2.0. It sparked so much creativity and joy for me...
The day it arrived I actually gasped when I opened it.
Xenon and INAN are definitely close runners up. But every time I went out of town this year I took 2.0 with a tiny little C.T. Credit card style neutral palette, and with those 2 I can do just about anything!

I think Yucca, Isamaya, then Lightwork V as number one.
I think LightWork has so many different textures, formulas, and shades, included in one fantastic palette. The shifts, and vibrancy of those shades are incredible! Some of the black/gray based shades can easily be used as “matte” shades to make amazing looks, then combined with those bright shimmers …chef’s kiss

Isamaya number 1 because it is SO unique. Esum number 2 as I’m currently reaching for it. #3 Natasha Denona xenon mini. Perfect amount of shades in that family 😊

  • @hazardsigns
    @hazardsigns 9 месяцев назад +2

My personal best of palette this year is a rerelease of an oldie. The Viseart Cool Mattes Pro is my jam. I'm almost at pan on two of the shades already, with how much I've used them. It is immaculate with my skin tone, facilitates a brown, purple, blue or grey/black look and the formula is super blendable. I can pair it with whatever satin or shimmer I fancy and I always feel put together. The tiny size is also a plus.
From your list, I'd go with the Isamaya and the ND Yucca. They both seem the most interesting and have colour stories that speak to me.

I had convinced myself that I didn’t need the Isamaya palette, and then I saw your videos 😂 I’m still debating between the 1.0 and the 2.0, but an Isamaya palette will be going into my palette collection (once I finally decide). That said: Remembrance is my top palette, followed by Midnight Sun (new to my collection this year). I actually don’t think I’d add a third. I was inspired by your quality over quantity mentality and am only purchasing when I truly feel inspired by a palette and feel that it adds to my (small but mighty) collection.

Alicia, what a year it has been for palette releases! I purchased every palette from your thumbnail except for Danessa Myricks. I thrive on colour and texture and this has been a good time to invest in this quirkiness of mine. My favourite palette is still Xenon. I grew up loving grey, black and white which followed from my wardrobe into make-up. I can't understand why so many still do not understand grey? Xenon is far from a black, white and grey palette, yet shades that are full of excitement all by themselves. I still believe that when I swatch each shade and go outside into the sunshine, it appears as if a diamond has exploded within each shade. It's the palette that I mostly grab for and I love the endless looks that can be created. Maybe, if some opened their minds and imaginations, they may learn to appreciate the beauty held within this glorious palette. I still have a great love for all of the other palettes that I've bought this year, it's just that Xenon resonates the most with me, especially as a colour story I have waited ever so long to arrive. I continue to love all of my other palettes too, in particular the two Industrial Palettes, the last two Byredo 18pan Palettes, the entire Range of Prada Eye Palettes and the majority of Rabanne Products and that's just the start of what I've been buying! I'm a lost cause I'm afraid. Good to see what great taste you have in eye-shadow palettes. As much as I do like the artistry of Mother Pat, Natasha Denona wins it for me as the best MUA and creator of palettes and shadows etc. Hopefully, Pat will return to her great palettes from the start of creating her Motherships. They'll both need to keep an eye on Isamaya Ffrench who is rather talented for one so young and is rising up the ranks with her own new brand. I can't see her lasting with Burberry for much longer though. She doesn't have the time and Burberry is suffering for it. Not even a Christmas Collection this year! Not good enough in my opinion. Anyway, my mind can't see past Xenon as being the GOATED Palette of the year - at least. All the very best for a wonderful New Year! 🇦🇺💖👩🏼‍🎨🥂🍾🎆

Like you, this year I have decided to purchase only the eyeshadow palettes that really speak to me. I love Sydney Grace,so I did purchase a few of her singles in colours that I thought were missing from my collection of shadows. I also purchased the Natasha Denona I Need a Nude palette. I use it in combination with other palettes, so I feel like I’m getting my money worth. As for my favourite 2023 palette, I can’t say I have one, but I can say that I am enjoying my overall collection because I am using what I have. I also just enjoy putting one of your videos on as I get ready because you are always upbeat and I learn so much from your techniques. Thank you so much for the inspiration.

Byredo Rememberence would be my number one choice, followed by Lightworks 5 because Rememberance is more versatile/complete and so satisfying for whole looks, while Lightworks for me is "let's add a sparkly moment on top". I wasn't interested enough in the other choices but Isamaya 1.0 is up there in my pantheon, so I think 2.0 probably deserves the spot in top 3.

Love your video and views! I so agree re PMG, the quality went down after end of 2019, think they just got greedy and lazy. I love the old stuff, especially the old 6 pans. Denona didn’t go down - Yucca is fantastic I really like the quirky but very usable colours. Isamaya I find harder to use so interesting you really like it. I didn’t get the new Danessa as I have the LW4 and rarely use it - its great for the fantastic effects though when the mood is right.I find myself dipping into older palettes as there has been so much issuance but nothing really super interesting of late..?

LOL the way that you described putting on the Isamaya palette is exactly how I put on eyeshadow when I first started doing my makeup and then someone criticized me telling me I should do more mats and I got kind of self-conscious about it so I developed the way I do my makeup now which is centered around Matt's but then featuring shimmer on the lids and inner eye.

    • @aliciaarcher
      @aliciaarcher  9 месяцев назад +3

Pffft (to that person 😤) Sure applying mattes is one way to do it, but it’s fun to also play with different textures through the crease. I feel these textures are so soft, that you don’t need a matte to blend them.

Hi Alicia, this is a tough one! I can't choose from the ones you featured in this video. Danessa Myricks and Isamaya are probably the top two, but I have to mention the Esum artistry palettes. Esum is having an awesome sale on holiday sets and their brushes for their 12 days of Giving. Today is the last day! The three artistry palette bundle (the mattes, neutral shimmers/metallics and the colorful shimmers/metallics) is available for $159. That's a steal, as the shimmer/metallic palettes are $120 each, the matte palette is $80; and the empty eyeshadow palette is $15. I grabbed the bundle with the quickness last week, and I must say the metallic finishes are incredible!! The sparkle of the top row in the colorful shimmer palette is to die for!! So those two palettes should be contenders!! Enjoyed this video! Are the Isamaya palettes still available? ❤❤

offhand i would say Isamaya Industrial 2.0 for the formula and color range. it took all my willpower not to jump on it during black friday but someone did mention most of the shades can be duped in PMG's palettes so i figured that was a good test run. however, i love that they are all in one palette in super nice formulas. very easy to pair with any other basic etc palettes we already have.
i'm very happy I got Xenon for all of the sparkly shades that i can mix in with other ND palettes, but none of the color stories this year truly stole my heart. Yucca definitely made a statement, they just aren't my tones. but I could see it being in the top 3 for originality. I Need a Nude would rank high just bc of it's everyday appeal but I personally would have wanted more neutral vs pink-leaning mattes.
Byredo Kalahari is still the stronger color story to me vs Remembrance but the formula is undeniably stunning and i would still put in top 3 as well.

The desaturated coloring in the Isamata one just doesn’t wet my whistle and the rest I just feel like blah. I would have picked the Natasha Yucca but it’s lack of depth and I’ve seen deeper skin tone RUclipsrs struggle with it has that one out the running. Sigh, I guess if I hat to pick a third, I’ll go with Sunlit Seduction but she is lacking but at least I know I can achieve looks on my complexion with her 😂😂

Hi Alicia! Which would you recommend between the isamaya and the Danessa palettes?

I have a number of these palettes but which one do I reach for the most? Yucca. It’s wonderful against my eye color (brown almost black) and my skin tone (light peach with light olive undertone).

I'm going to buy Danessa Myrick's Yucca palette. Have you heard of Merrick cosmetics? During the Sephora Black Friday's sale, Merrick had lipsticks half off. I got two. I love them.

Danessa Myrick isn’t the creator of the Yucca palette… Natasha Denona created Yucca

For me the Lightworks Vol. 5 was the best palette of the year. I absolutely adore it as it truly added something to my collection. Getting 18 special shades in all different colours and finishes in one palette is wild. It's the perfect shimmer palette and all the shadows look equally as good on all skin tones! Definitely my crown favourite. But... A close second would be Yucca! One of the best ND palettes and certainly the one with the best shimmers! ❤️

Blend Bunny is superior quality. I discovered the line this year. Literally nothing else I'd ever want for formula and performance, as well as the accuracy/depth/payoff of colors.

When it comes to higher end vs. indi I have been coming to the same realization. I want quality packaging. I some fantastic indis but I would rather have quality over quantity in formula and packaging, if that makes sense.

Hello beautiful lady! As always, great chat. If I may take a shot to your contender list? Lets just keep it real..."day-to-night" real rule. Those lacking mates and/or can't follow the mentioned rule shouldn't contend not even for a handshake. Therefore:
    3. XENON
    2. YUCCA
    1. BYREDO
And in the voice of my 3yr old Juliette, "gurl, you can do this, zhankx ".😂

I can’t get behind isamaya for other reasons, the palette is stunning, but I can’t support her. Byredo is amazing as is Danessa Myricks, but….. Natasha KILLED it this year! If I could only use one palette for the entirety of 2024, Yucca, INAN, or Xenon could do the job beautifully!
