Strangely, Polypropylene is not a resin. And I am not sure on your thoughts on the stopwatch etc buttons not being waterproof. I think there's a membrane mounted between their outer and inner part. And, don't watches stand a smaller chance of getting damaged, hit scratched, when they are worn on the inside of the wrist?
I love how he selected a watch to match his own jawline. Next level outfit matching!
How very observant. Humans tend to be attracted to objects that look like them I guess....

Best comment ever
Wearing the watch on the inside today, in the business environment, means seeing the time without the very obvious turn of the wrist which in many cultures and in general business environments may come across as boredom, or a passive aggressive show of disinterest.
I feal you
I’m terrible at that. If I’m wearing a different watch that I have not worn for a while I’ll look at it just to admire it. I was having lunch with an aunt and was doing it and she asked me “do you have somewhere to be?” I had to explain myself!
@@hanscombe72 lol, it's not foolproof
Also if you wear the watch on the inside of your wrist and you’re in a meeting you can check the time without being obvious.
yeah probable the most likely,
kevin heenan Definitely
Great idea!!!
It's true. I often like to have my hands on top of the table when sitting, and if I clasp my hands and twist my forearms just a bit, I can sneak a peak at my watch without making a show of it.
Yeah, I used to switch my watch (not a Casio) to the inside during certain meetings at my last company (the cure for insomnia). Even taught a few coworkers to do it. About a thousand years ago I was in the military and watched other guys do that on our first field training exercise. I just copied what they did. It is good light discipline and does make it easier to check the time when you're holding your rifle. BUT, as an office jockey now, I know will scratch the hell out of the watch pulling desk duty.
When I got my first watch as a kid, I quickly learned to do the "inside wear" so that I could see the time in a relaxed position, without any teachers or preachers seeing me do the obvious time check.
That way the crystal gets more scratches
I love CASIO digital watches.
Me too!
CASIO the best
*_Me too. The ana-digi Casios are growing on me though. I'm not a fan of mere analog watches all. I like the hourly chimes, EL/LED lighting, Auto EL/LED lighting, Solar/Atomic functions, 1 to 24 hour plus Stopwatches, 1 to 24 hour Countdown Timers, Alarms, and etc. found in digital Casios. Nope, I still don't hear analogs 'beeping' or saying anything in response to that._* 😊😉
*_I do wanna try my hand at an automatic analog watch though._*
Casio is eternal... I really wonder how their watches will look like for example in 2124.
@@istvantoth7431 useless after 2099
Great video! Also, for those who do have the older modules that is programmed until 2029, don't fret. Since the calendar restarts every 28 years, when January 1, 2030 arrives, you can set it to the year 2012. Since the year doesn't even show on the main display, this is an excellent way to keep using your watch indefinitely!
2002, not 2012.
@@StorminNorvinThat's right! 👍👍👍👍
I wear a wristwatch inside. I haven't been in LE for 30 years, and never did it for any tacticool reason. Further my violin teacher, who was a nun, when I was a child also wore her watch inside the wrist. Pretty sure she was never in special forces, but with nuns you never know.
Hahhaha!! Thanks for the laugh
Loved this new channel, please keep going!
Just had to give you praise for one of the most interesting and informative watch vids ever. At a time when most everyone is focused on smart watches or sapphire crystaled divers, it's good to good ol' workhorse Casios get their due.
Your watch reviews are fantastic! This is the second video I have watched. Extremely impressed. Thank you for posting
Thanks I appreciate it! More to come.
My W-740 has the earlier 1189 module and is a slimmed down model, but with a similar aesthetic. Still going strong after 25 years!
Unlike other watch reviewers, you have an enlightened, entertaining and intuitive approach to review a watch. Two thumbs up.
Actually we wore watches inside the wrist mostly to not reflect sunlight off the crystal and alert the enemy.
Someone didn't watch the video until the end before posting a comment it seems.
@@Lookansea someone wanted to sound like a bad ass. I spent 8 years in Marine corps infantry... handle every saw any with their watch inside the wrist.
I really enjoy back to this review from time to time. What a great job!
This is how a review should be done. Nice job!
I enjoyed watching that. Lovely overall presentation.
The 5600 you showed is a close relative to the first ever G-shock so def. some history there.
And they do grow on you. (bulldog style)
Your reviews are informative and entertaining.
Thank you.
I bought my DW-9000 G-Shock in 1999. I was in the Army at the time, and it went with me through all sort of tests and endurance. We both survived, and I still wear it occasionally in the 2020s. Best purchase ever. Some of my colleagues used an special strap that covered their watch entirely to prevent reflections. I prefer wear it on the inside of the wrist.
Just bought it after watching your video... I love it!!!! I love the look and uniqueness of it... thanks!
Glad to hear it - it's a robust watch with an interesting history!
One of the best reviews I’ve ever seen.
casio lover here. gets the immediate info i need everytime
Never thought I'd watch a 20 minute video on a watch, yet here I am.
Nice!
Stoic. Great watch I have worn Casio watches for years. Great video. Thank you.
The GD350 G-Shock is one of my favorite sub $100 tough watches. It's got overkill features that I don't really use but has a larger that average time display than my other G-Shocks making it easy to read. Also the black models can be picked up at some Walmart's meaning they're easy to find.
Excellent video! Please keep posting more!
Many more videos planned. Working on one right now!
Ok, you got me. Subbed and looking forward to watching all your videos.
Interesting review of a simple watch. Good job. Love Casios but never had one of these.
What a fantastic rundown.
I had one of this for 12 years and i have to tell you this things don't give a damn how hard you use it they will still work like it was made out of titanium.
This is my kind of RUclips content right here.
This was my first watch as a kid. Loved that thing. My dad actually got one not too long ago. Not a fan or R. Mueller.
I totally LOVE your content! Please please please! More videos!!!
Thanks, I appreciate that! More videos are in the works.
Very well made video very good job. This watch it's not ugly, not at all. All these corners and curves are very nice looking, and casio has huge experience to this part and make it perfect almost every time. I like it as a watch , but i don't know what to wear first this or my GW-M5610-1ER that i bought recently, both of the them are beautiful, you can't ban any of them.
I have this watch. It's one of my go to time pieces
Good to hear it! It's my adventure watch.
I have this watch I bought it over 20 years ago. Still working today! It was based off a G-Shock and has the very rare 1219 Module!
Amazing. How many battery changes have you done?
@@bestcoffeeintown997 I actually can't remember but it was left unused for a very long time. Then I replaced the battery. I also replaced the strap as it was very worn. A G-Shock was the natural replacement. I took a look at the watch last night after this video. She's still buzzing away as usual. One feature I like is the light a lovely blue.
How long did the green letters stay on? Are they still there?
I have a Casio DW-290 module 1219 - Japan from the year 1995. Display illumination is Blue. In the graphics of the display, the colors are opposite of the display colors of this video clock (red color to indicate the light button and the line around the display is in blue color). It's a great watch! It works perfectly to this day.
i’ve been looking for this particular model lately. hard to find.
Thats amazing rewiwev, i wish u got a video on the classic Caso G Shock DW5600
Very very nice review and congratulations honestly. I strongly believe that Casio is the most VFM watch brand. I own two of them and although they are not so expensive they work perfectly for almost 10 years. It is the only wrist watch you will ever need...
My grandmother was a teacher and wore watches on the inside so her students couldn't tell what time it was.
So it was forbidden for them to wear a watch
Women, at least in the time of when people do admire and care of class and etiquette, women zdo mostly wear small watches and wear on the inside of their wrists.
Great video! I really enjoyed the history lesson.
I really like how you explore this watch trough all video, and the examples that you give us about the person who use it. Great job!
The DW-5600 line lacks history? Come again?! A great review, otherwise :D Really enjoyed it. Thank you.
This is an excellent video and I have no idea why I didn't watch it sooner 🤷🏽✌🏽
Great review!!
Great watch and a great video 👍🏻
Great review!
hi, currently waiting for my wort hog to arrive, I guess according to your info mine will last 100 years, thats the first time news to me which won you my subscription ;) great video
Very informative video, I subscribed...good job.
Great video.
Nice info, THX !
Finally and gladly u reviewed this watch. This is my first diving watch. Non gshock watch but has quality of gshock. I surprised that this watch has quite cool history. A former head of FBI daily watch, ethan hunt's watch in Mission impossible 1 and some nasa researchers use it. It used several times to timed my dive duration up to 1 hour at 25m depth.
As a video game designer I find the wearing of a watch the inside of the wrist a useful element to incorporate into diagetic UI for first person games.
You were able to provide a review of a relatively uninteresting watch to be extremely interesting. Well done my brother Canadian. :)
great video!
Nice to know the life expectancy of the watch [1189]. As far as tough, I've had my modle for almost 20 years now, handled carpentry, AME career, farming, swimming, sports and outdoor activities... Still works great super tough and ready for any mission impossible 😎
What kind of watch you have owned for 20 years ?
please, more videos like this!
👌 great review
The Mueller watch! I was wondering what that el cheapo was he was wearing old school bezel saver style. FYI, the accordion aspect of these straps are for expansion over a wetsuit. It's a 200m water resistant watch making it very capable of diving. Nobody is going 200m anyway but 50m is very deep for air diving. Very thoroughly reviewed!
Thanks for watching!
Although the watch can go to 200m, it doesn't have the fail-safes (ex. screw on caseback) to warrant a scuba classification. That's why Casio describes "diving" for this watch as "skin diving." But you're right, most divers will never dive to 200m in their lifetimes!
My comment that the accordion wrist strap is for shock absorption comes straight from Casio: "The band actually acts as a shock absorber itself, protecting against shocks from behind. We have established strict standards for the combination ratio of urethane resin employed. Neither too soft nor too hard, the superb specified combination realizes an ideal balance between shock resistance and comfortable wear-ability."
The accordion area is quite rigid and doesn't really expand more than 5-6 millimeters, even if you pull really hard on the strap.
I love this watch i had it when i was a kid back in 1996... Didn't know that it still exist
Love the big buttons
My favourite Casio adore the shape.
The best dw290 review iv seen mate.👍😉
"Ugly but bulldog ugly" 😂😂 ill try to remember that one 👍👍👍
I have this watch from the 1990's. It still works. It was made in Japan with the module "1219". It was my introduction to G-Shocks. I believe it has a G-Shock module but can't remember what model Gshock watch it was used in. 😎
I have noted Tradesmen on occassion wearing their watch facing inwards on their wrist... when quizzed as to why the answer was to stop it's facia from getting knocked around during a normal working day...
Doctors / Nurses sometimes wear it on the inside as well to easily take a pulse while looking at the watch with the same hand.
@@BBayjay Nurses also use the pin on uniform fob watches as well 👍
I loved your video. So in-depth. Looking to purchase one. Might throw it on a 18mm NATO after the original strap breaks.
Funny, im actually wearing mine right now and somehow this came up on my feed. lol
Nice PPQ. I really want one.
It's really great. Comfortable, goes straight back to target in fast shooting, hasn't jammed a single time even with cheaper ammo.
My Casio 1985 DW-2500, handed down from my brother when I was young, got hit pretty hard that one of the lugs broke :C
Been using on the inside of the wrist for quite a while now, for non-tactical reasons. I just find it more natural to just glance over when working, holding tools or whatever, than to actually rotate my arm towards me to check the time. I also use it on my dominant hand... so there are dozen of us, dozens 🤣
I just bought one for my travel adventures !
Just bought the newer module model and I think this the best non G Shock watch you can buy due to the simplicty of the dial, the el backlight and 200m of water resistance.I think Mr Mueller is cute too!😳
Parabéns! Pela apresentação.
Letter of mine DW-290 are still sharp after few months :D
This is the best g-shock ever, great review!
I just bought one and I think it's great ! 👍✌️
Kick ass watch. I have one from the 90s. It's the black and gold variant.
Ive been wearing a 290 at work for the last couple years. Ironically I wear it on the inside of the wrist as well. I work in a prison and I'm always banging watches on railings and steel door frames. A $300 luminox fell victim to the railings. Bought this cuz it was cheap, durable, it has a timer, and a nice alarm. I work midnights and a decent alarm is required......for naps during my breaks. You're right, it is ugly though.
Like German actress Alexandra Maria Lara. Ugly and beautiful at the same time.
Went to Princeton also. Dropped out to ENLIST for VIETNAM!!!
I have the 1219 japan made, it was the first digital watch I bought myself as a child. It still works today, I just need a new strap for it.
Another reason for wearing a watch on the inside of the wrist is to protect it so that you dont smash the crystal against heavy brush.
He needs to do a review on the watch that President Trump the Great wears.
Just the opposite, inside of the wrist yes but upwards
@@pericodelospalotes5738 I have not been in the military. I was thinking about hunting grouse or woodcock in heavy brush at the edge of fields with our gun dog.
@@shasha1873 he changes watches frequently.
This watch would be cool if they bring out a tough solar version. By the way, nice PPQ, you have good taste in handguns.
Thanks! My PPQ fits the hand so nicely it almost aims itself.
love casio
fenomenal video
"Bulldog Ugly" Love it! Casio rocks, so do your videos.
Great review, i have one of these with the 1189 module but the date is up to 2039 not 2029 ! Not sure if they had tweeked the modules after the originals ?
The new DW291 is a nicer looking followup watch, but also with less personality. The main downside with DW290 is the fairly low contrast and smallish digits, which is rectified with the DW291 so I'll probably get one of those as well.
Perhaps, this drew the inspiration for Ethan Hunt wearing the same watch in Missiom Impossible.
Thanks for pointing that out. I forgot to mention in the video that this is the "Mission Impossible" watch.
Hunt didn't wear it in in the next 6 movies. So I guess he did not lke it that much. ;-)
I like it. I like watches that tell you the time instead of trying to work out where the hands are. And you can pretend you’re in the special forces on a top secret mission.
on circumsantces, I check the time faster with the hands.
I'm between the DW-5600 and this one. Nice review, btw...
Your voice is amazing
Other reason to wear on the inside of your wrist, is if you're sailing a dinghy. Tiller one hand, sheet in the other - and you don't want to let go of either to check the time/your speed.
12:17 What g-shocks are separated by a rubber barrier?
Thanks for the Blade Runner tidbit!
Ordered one today
I was thinking as I was watching this if you could use some goo gone or iso alcohol to remove the teal green text. As is mentioned in many Casio reviews, they tend to use the watch face as a billboard to advertise the features. I’d also look into putting a NATO strap on it. I wonder does it have the same weird way of connecting the straps as a Gshock, because those require special adapters.
Liked coz I had one in the 90's!
The only watch I can comfortably wear inside the wrist is an F91W. It's slim enough to not catch on anything.
Robert Muller are you wearing Casio watch? Muller: Cngresswomen can you give me the page number where you read it?
Not all that hard to figure out. He's a military man. And no nonsense. You get
A lot of cops and emergency services wear digital , when you are involved in an incident you glance down And take note of the exact time to the minute and second. It's probably how he was trained in the beginning and is a long-standing habit he's the gotten used to on his wrist. He's not into flash but practical. I get it
Just purchased this watch last July 3, coincidentally Tom Cruises' birthday.
I love the look of this tool watch, I find it ruggedly good looking and unique.
Great review by the way 👍👍
Does the watch still have the green text? Are they rubbing off?
