Dealer wanted $18k USD for the Ducati mono RVE. I paid $8k for my 2020 690 with only 1k miles on it….
Wow. It sure isn’t worth an extra 10k for the grin factor the 690 will put in your face. Ride and enjoy my friend.
So you bought a 4 year old ktm and compared it to a brand new bike. Wow.
@@ReapeR948 a new bike that’s double the price….yea….and even in this video they can’t decide a winner….Ducati had 15 years to get it right and still fumbled….
Same for the Ducati for me pricewise and bought a 2021 690 for $9300 with 230 miles

I had the SMC 690 R last week for the day whilst my SDR was in service. Amazing thing, so light and nimble, those country lanes have never been so much fun. Traction off, abs off, map 2 and away I went. I loved it and now want one !!! Deffo needs a bit more punch though. Re map and full system etc. The controls and electronics seem primitive after the SDR and the dash is crap !!! Fuel tank at the rear caught me out too 😂 Amazing things though. Great video 👊🏼
swap the front cog to 15 tooth and that should do it.

I had a 701 before the 690.
Only performance mods so far are the exhaust end can and fuel dongle. It’s gonna get remapped with an open air box around June time.
so to choose the winner I'll time the laughter on both bikes .. proper test !!

I swapped the front cog on my Husky 701 to 15 tooth from 16. Transformed the bike.
I may look at that after a remap
Do you feel that the ktm has more Nm in low rpm?
When in mode 2 at low rpm it's got a bit more grunt.
Great vid. Watched both viewpoints. Curious because i’m considering getting a supermoto and they’re a bit tall - how tall are you two?
I’m 5’7” your inside leg measurement affects it more. I’m 29” my bike has the KTM lowering kit fitted.
They are tall but narrow, the Ducati seat height scared the shit out of me but I'm on the balls of my feet which is good enough for me
@alexpryce555 The KTM is narrower than the Duke.
@@Robbiemoto I have the same inside leg measurement. How is the difference with the lowering kit and without? Tippy toeing vs balls of your feet?
@Vanity7k the kit lowers the bike 25mm. You get front springs, rear spring and a shorter side stand. It fairs quite well. Gives you that little bit extra confidence when on uneven ground.

I never have to clutch my KTM 690 to get the front up EVER.... You just don't know what gear to keep it in... Time stamp 20:35

With a little time,fine tuning,the Ducati'll come of age,n'be,AWESOME,while im 'ere,Ducati,the only m/c,you dont make,a Scooter,please ha ha,since i can't ride a m/c,these days:(those two,would make fantastic everyday m/c,s,with mini fairings,racks,something like a Dominator),even as normal street bikes,lower,n'so on,carry on singles,way t'go
Exactly. They are both great everyday bikes and I’ve no doubt someone will crack the ECU and fine tune the mapping just like the KTM.
KTM redline is clearly 8,888. 🤣

I owned a 2020 SMC R and now a Hypermono 698. Ducati has eaten KTM's lunch. Ducati has made a better SMC R than KTM. And KTM fanboys can't cope with how good the Ducati is.
