Troy, Don't pay any attention to negative comments, if it feels good for you it is probably going to appeal to someone else ! And it isn't about playing it just like the original, you are original, that is the magic of music, our true feelings. I play it more like a blues song but I love ballads and country so can appreciate the feelings you have in it. keep your spirit in your songs and you'll do just fine Brother !

Hey Mr. Morris, those are very kind words, thank you. When I started this adventure I knew not everyone would like my tutorials and covers. Negative comments come with the territory. You put yourself out there, you have to be willing to hear everyone’s thoughts. Negative comments won’t deter me from continuing to put more tutorials up. In fact, it does the opposite. Just makes me want to do more! Thanks again Mr. Morris it means a lot!

I can't pick up the strumming pattern from the video, could someone help me?

      Hi Lea,
Strumming…. It can be so frustrating. As you improve in playing guitar strumming becomes almost second nature and you don’t even think about it. When people ask me what the “strumming pattern” is, I seriously have pick up my guitar and play through it to figure out what I’m doing. Strumming is unique to the player and shouldn’t be the focus of your playing. My usual comments when teaching is “play the song not the strumming pattern” I play with a variety of styles and nuances unique to me. I also use a variety of muted slap strums that can take many years to master. Muted slap strums imitate the kick drum to help keep time. A habit, I picked up as a soloist. Now, I don’t even recognize that I do it.
      What I am playing for this song? Well… loosely… I’m playing…

I would encourage you NOT to spend to much time on learning a strumming pattern. Play the song and the natural rhythm of the strumming will come to you. I hope that makes some sense. I’ve added a link to video I did some time ago where I discussed strumming patterns and their perceived importance. You might find it an interesting watch. I hope all of this helps.
