So when you go on duty the 8 hour clock starts. So when doing your pre trip it’s counting down right? So you lose that time? So now you only have say 7 hours and 45 min of drive time?
Drew Murphy that is correct, Somewhat. Our 14 starts when you start your pre trip. It also starts the 8 hour clock that you can not drive after 8 hours of coming on duty. Then when you take a 30 minute break the rest of your 11 becomes available (if you break after 3 hours of driving).
My company has had Peoplenet for several years. But we are have a lot of issues with the E Log conversation One our tablets do not stay charged when the engine is running. Two you can only certify your logs with the engine running ( sub 2) you have to certify your logs from the event screen not the grid. And when you Log Off you have to re certify all your logs again.
One thing I want to add for everyone. Carry and Updated Manual for the updated software. Otherwise the state trooper will consider your Manuals invalid
@@hasansadig8758that is a bummer. According to the Federal Register's “Regulatory Guidance Concerning Electronic Signatures and Documents” (76 FR 411) which is a clarification of the law it states that the user’s manual, instruction sheet, and malfunction instruction sheet can be in electronic form. I think it is worth fighting that ticket!
@@drivekandj You have a point. Only if you can Undock the device. Once I undock mine I get a red light and it becomes Non-Compliant. Officer don't want to hop in my truck to look at the unit. (Thats when you get a bad state trooper)

Can I drive at warehouse while I'm in SB or off duty status within 10-15 mph ? Or it automatically switches to drive status?? Please, I just got my peoplenet switched to ELD system today and I worry about it ..
You can drive on the property of the warehouse on PC. From what our lawyers told me they have language in there to allow this as a “short move” so you don’t have to stop your 10 hour break to move to or from a dock door to or from the staging area
Michael Duffey pressure from safety group lobbies on Congress. That is why nothing can be done to make it user friendly because these things are required by law.
DOT requirements on the eld should not be so vague and or confusing to commercial drivers. If the DOT has required ELD use, there should be a phone number associated with the DOT for the mandated regulatory requirements. "I've got a few questions!" We want to be compliant. But I'm tired of getting most of my information through other drivers that may or may not have the correct information! We need a legit DOT ELD phone number for clarifications. We need clear information right from DOT. Example: Do all trailer inspections require 15 minute On Duty, Not Driver status? *Pulling 10-15 trailers local each night. Are walk arounds and post trip inspections still logged in at 15 minute increments On Duty Not Driver? These 15 minute inpections are killing my production!
Derek Bush unfortunately you don’t. Because yard move is an on duty activity that you drove for. You have to put yourself into off duty PC to get away with moving during a break.

Hasan Sadig DVIR is not required unless something is noted. So no having a button for it is not required. An inspection must be done once a day and some “on-duty time” must be logged for it. However, IAW 395.8 we are not required to Flag what we are doing, only where and when.
@@10ringcraigdaniels62 So what your saying, you dont need a DVIR. Just putting yourself into On-Duty is sufficient? Also that is good enough for the DOT and Weigh Stations? As far as I am aware, I had State Troopers ask me for Both Vehicle Inspection Report and a Pre-trip on the PeopleNet system. Im still double checking on that.
Hasan Sadig that is correct. A DVIR is only required by law if something is wrong. A company policy can be different but by law no. No time requirements or limits either. In the paper logs days we used 15 minutes because it was the shortest increment on the log graph. It was/isn’t required to even note or flag what “on duty” activity you are doing. PTI, fuel, shipper,stop01... It was/is only required that the activity be logged when and where not what.

The cool thing about the new version is that it has an updated manual on it! Go to your main home screen. Under "Driver" you will find the manual.
