Very useful. Thanks for the tip showing hand position for the big unfold; I find the front wheel goes off on a tangent making it hard to do up the frame hinge.
Hello Paul & Sarah, Excellent video, I know when I first got my Brompton I got in all sorts of a pickle trying to fold and unfold it... Nicely explain how not to fall into the traps. I have never times myself so may have a good and will update this comment with my timings. Take care. Paul,,
I’ve just come off a cancer operation so it’ll be about 2 months before I can ride my Brompton and other bikes. But I keep the Brompton in the living room where I can look at it to motivate me. I’ll never be in a hurry to fold it I just like to be gentle with things I love but when I get on it again I’ll be cancer free and happy as hell. Love your videos and your enthusiasm!
Excellent ! just what I needed to get me blowing the cobwebs away! In lockdown I practiced a bit and got quite fast. What helps as well as familiarity is being relaxed, if you tense up and try to rush it it tends to take longer. One " Point of order ", you haven't got a folding pedal so gained a bit of time by not having to fold / unfold that 😉
Hi thanks for watching and your nice comments. Good point about being relaxed! And yep I’ve had these peddles on so long I forgot about the folding peddles 😂 does that make me a cheater?!
@@veloworks9266 Not at all! I was at the BWC in 2019 and watched some of the Pros doing track stands that would have a Buddhist monk admiring the stillness of form, and folding in seemingly impossible times. Birthday next month and I suspect that a pair of the lightweight Brommie pedals are heading my way 😎
Hi thanks for watching. Good question. I don’t think it really makes a difference. But it’s good to pop a little oil on the hinges if storing for a longer period of time (somewhere dry)
I can NEVER permit myself to perform the last part of the fold like that (letting the handlebars drop) - to me, it's akin to slamming the laptop lid down - or throwing a mobile phone onto the tables. Just a habit I learned from childhood ("Don't slam the door!") and can't give up. Never drop something you can lower carefully. Interestingly, this "habit" was reinforced with my new Brompton. I found the brake lever position (almost pointing downwards) too uncomfortable, so I rotated them upwards just maybe 30 degrees. When I CAREFULLY lowered my handlebars, I found they wouldn't click into the clip thingamajig - because the brake cables were in the way! If I'd just let them drop, who knows what damage I might have caused? Lesson learned - even though I know they will now clip into the clippy thingy, I still carefully lower the bars when folding. What's the rush? It's not a competition. ;-)

Glad you found it helpful!

@@doug2835 Hello Doug, great idea about keeping the Brompton in view for motivation... Wishing you the best of luck for your future rides.
Thank you so much. Your encouragement is greatly appreciated!
Thanks Paul, glad you enjoyed it. Oh yes please let us know your times! It’s much harder than I thought to go fast 😂
How does lowering the seat post lock the Brompton together? 🤔
It pushes on a stop behind the rear brake calliper and stops the rear triangle folding back.
Useful reminder 😃
Thanks for watching!

Basic but necessary! One question. Is it better to keep the Brompton folded or unfolded during a long period of time, without using it like winters.
