    Nice video.... Because the wheels are 16 inch the chance of punctures are raised when you go off curbs .. My advice would be avoid any type of pot hole , dip, curb etc ... This bike is the perfect choice for any one living in a large city... You take the bike into your apartment. ! You dont have to worry about theft..... You dont have to worry about finding somewhere to secure it outside. You dont have to worry about whether it will get stolen.......And it drives great and is fast....... and many more reasons... For added shock absorbancy i added foam hand grips ( cut in half ) to the original hand grips .. these surprisingly work very well !

    Hello, thank you for also explaining the virtues of the Brompton, I have another one exactly the same as yours, black M6L but I bought it electric, because where I live I have unevenness and it fulfills its function of helping on climbs very well, I have already subscribed to your channel, greetings and until the next video 😊👍✨🚴💫

    Pedalling while changing the hub gears is not recommended by Brompton 👍

      They’ve even got a video explaining why on their website! Good reminder to myself though after jumping of MTB and road bikes with external gears!

      @@JoshFosterBikesAndEngineeringi’m new to Bromptons myself and i remember seeing a video explaining the gearing on a C line which is what i now have saying to pause pedalling while changing hub gears but ok to keep pedalling as per usual with derailleur gears, think it was a Brilliant Bikes video who i subscribe to as i do yours…keep up the great content 😃👍🚴🏻‍♂️

    There’s no rental option in Sydney Australia. Out of all the bikes I’ve owned, from years of cycling (road and off road) I love my Brompton bikes the most. I”m close to 60 and just got an electric Brompton for health reasons and I feel like a teenager agin cycling.

      Shame there’s no rental option. I think it opens up a lot more people to being able to afford a Brompton. Loved the electric Brompton when I tried it! Worked in a shop in Brighton at the time. If you haven’t been… it’s very very hilly.

    Thanks for the video. Considering 12-month lease myself to see how I get on with the Brompton. Can you specify whether you get the 3 or 6 gear option? As I’m fairly unfit and live in a relatively hilly area (Stoke) I’d have reservations whether 3 speeds was enough. Also, do you pick the colour or get what you’re given, essentially?

    • @JoshFosterBikesAndEngineering

      They seem to spec the M6L as standard, it also comes with the telescopic seatpost. I had no option to choose colour, at a guess it'll be black. Even the 3 gear options (because they're hub gears) have an okayish range top to bottom. If you buy yourself one rather than lease (e.g. second hand) there's after market options for making them pedal assist, and then Brompton themselves do an electric option. The electric option is also available on the lease but that's £50/month.

    Honestly, as a "Brompton Weight Watcher", the "Telescope Post" would near double my bikes weight, and I have now changed close to all parts on my much former than, 2019 SuperlightM6LXBrompton bike to Titanium and Carbon, where possible. I just changed to a carbon M handlebar yesterday, as some more, the last bolts on my brakes to titanium. I have a titanium, black seat post in several versions, from the standard 535mm, "children size", for folding reasons, inside my Travel Box, to the 600mm, Scandinavian Standard version. I have my clamp on the saddle below it, from that.
    And I hardly found out for what use I had the low gears, of my 6, till I met a very steep Danish hill, and had to walk on top!
    I like to have my bike look as Standard as possible, not to advertise, expensive parts, even though a Brompton is absurdly expensive! Finn. Denmark

      Hi Finn, thanks for your comment! You’ve sent me into a rabbit hole of looking at lightweight Brompton components now! I’m glad I’ve leased the bike for now I’d have started buying up titanium parts. Have you noticed any difference in the ride with your carbon bars? Doubling the weight though, any idea how much it is in kg?

    • @finncarlbomholtsrensen1188
      @finncarlbomholtsrensen1188 5 месяцев назад

      @@JoshFosterBikesAndEngineering Well my much former than 2019 bike is around 9 kilo with mudguards, but the telescope post is about double the weight of a Standard, as it ads an extra tube and clamp! And a carbon handlebar also helps. I just added carbon clamps on my mudguards also. Sadly the 2 holders are permanent, and if not so I would have replaced them, after drilling out and added two from alu! You may consider China, Korea and Taiwan as the main suppliers of advanced spares and parts for a Brompton! They do produce Copies of the bike which are better and - lighter and near all, similar and interchangeable parts are easily found for much less prices. I suppose a titanium seat post, in any color or length in between also, is about the price of an original post? It takes a little more time but they are used to do trading from far away, much unlike the UK! The new EU trade system is sadly a joke, so I don't buy parts from the UK any more!!!
      Shops offering parts are easily found on the Internet, also from Major Chinese Internet shops. Finn

      A T-line with mudguards is very close to my weight, and I have more gears, though I did wonder for what use I had the low gears (till I met an extreme hill and had to walk going up, on top!)? I have also changed parts on my original brakes to titanium, but my bike still looks totally original! I have tried to find a painted version Stempost, from titanium, as mine, but it is difficult. I'm just waiting on mine arriving. Any suggestions for a good phone mount that might work on the handlebars?

    • @JoshFosterBikesAndEngineering
      @JoshFosterBikesAndEngineering  Месяц назад +1

      Though I've never mounted a phone I've seen a few different variations that work better/worse. The leader always seems to be Quadlock - they're pretty popular in the motorbike world as well. Given the brompton folds though just be mindful to take the phone off before folding it fully. Cheaper options include things from topeak. Just look at getting a really decent hard case - just in case...
      The alternative is to look at utilizing something like a smart watch to give you directions. With apple watch you have to use apple maps, but I've used it to navigate around cities without having to keep my phone out. Garmin and Wahoo also produce watches with these features.

    ¿Por qué no ponen los precios?

    • @JoshFosterBikesAndEngineering
      @JoshFosterBikesAndEngineering  3 дня назад

      It's not available in all territories - in the UK it's £35/month for the M6L year sub. £50/month for an option to cancel any time, month by month. And then £100/month for the electric. But that includes servicing and insurance.

      It is pretty pricey. But I don’t think it’s beaten yet on 1 how small it folds, and 2 how easily it folds. Certainly there are cheaper options out there
