  • In this mid-week mini episode we discover a BIG problem at our Italian farmhouse renovation project after 5 months away. Finding a leak it never a good thing, but when you're in the middle of a two week rainy period, it's really bad. Watch us spring into action and attempt to fix the roof ourselves, it's a steep learning curve but with little budget remaining for this farmhouse restoration we had no choice but to tackle it ourselves.
    Thanks for watching!

    Our Story:
We sold our apartment in Stockholm, packed up the car and headed for Piemonte. After a couple of months searching for the right house we came across Our Italian Dream House and immediately made an offer. Four weeks later (just three days before Christmas 2021) we signed the contract and had the keys.
It's now early 2024 and we have been renovating this epic house for two years now. We are mortgage free and have a very limited budget so we take on as much of the renovation ourselves as possible - follow us on our journey as we turn an abandoned Italian farmhouse into our dream home.

i will get to have similar fun this spring. So glad you are skilled at heights. These tile roof systems are amazing to me. We have systems that are sealed in the states. I am eager to learn more about them. Thank you for the lesson.

I’m new here and I was wondering why you don’t have more views.
Your editing is good, you both are sympathetic and interesting, your house a germ.
I watched around 12 videos from the beginning to the end and here are a few of my thoughts:
You start a project but often we don’t see the end result. Like the self made door.
Almost finished but we never saw it.
Same today with the roof. I was excited to see the result but we didn’t see it, also the garden.
I get it, it’s not finished but a short outlook what happened next would help.
A lot of viewer like to bond with the people they are watching regularly.
That doesn’t mean we need to know the really privat stuff but a little bit more information would help.
Like, what you are doing work wise.
Do you have a second home in France?
I love the little breaks when you are going for a walk with the dog or seeing your amazing food.
It just helps to get a connection to you.
I like your videos, I don’t want to sound negative just my impression after watching a few videos

Thank you so much for your very kind and constructive comment. I (Emelie) can totally see your point, and I understand why it sometimes gets confusing. The truth is; we’re (ehrrm
mostly Edward) experts on starting projects, almost finish them and move on to the next thing 😂 and since we’re doing 100 things simultaneously to save time and money most things still have a few details left to be considered done and perfect so we get conscious about showing them. Hopefully we’ll be able to wrap more things up now since we are actually finishing the house. And we promise you show you the progress and end result 😊 again, thank you for taking the time to write this down for us.

Keep your spirits up: I think everyone pays “professionals” to do jobs & then are disappointed. You have achieved loads. Nice to see you both back. & please just say : what a shit job or hey something went well today.

I live close to Asti and I had to do the same. It’s all part of good fun. Piedmont houses are not really waterproof.

Haha and it’s crazy that they are not. We were discussing that the other day actually. Being from two very wet countries where you weather proof your homes like crazy. It’s strange that the houses here are not built to resist more humidity, considering we have a few months of winter and back in the days they used to get a lot of snow.
