If I remember correctly they had no reverb in use while recording, it was added later in mastering. Flemming rasmussen mentioned the only reverb was the warehouse like room where the drums were
The general feel is very similar to the original, but I think the low end is very reminiscent of Justice as well. That means you could easily get MoP and AJFA tones by EQ'ing...
Also on the album they played 4 seperate guitar tracks to make the guitar sound fuller and more intense instead of artificially doubling it. If James had just recorded it as one track the album would sound dry and weak.

I think you should do other songs/bands if they were on Ride the Lightning, like how would Holy Wars sound on Ride the Lightning? How about Mouth for War? Raining Blood?

Amp vsts like Emissary, cab loading plugins etc and overdrives like tse vst pedals but the biggest is cab selection, playing Ability, and EQ matching to the album guitar tracks (big one there)
